Yup. I pretty much knew there would be when I saw ‘First Date’. That track has instrumental elements of ‘You Take My Heart Away’ and a quick ‘Gonna Fly Now’ tacked on the end. ‘Rocky is sick’ and ‘You Can See The Whole Town From Here’ also has GFN on it. ‘You’re a Creed’ is the most Conti heavy track. It has GFN, ‘Going The Distance’ and ‘The Final Bell’ on it.

Also, does 1:40 after the start of ‘If I Fight You Fight’ sound a lot like the Taarna segment from Heavy Metal? 🙂

So… I’ve literally just finished listening to this score. Upon hearing the opening track…. "Oh know please don’t tell me they have destroyed the beloved musical legacy of the Rocky franchise" instantly came to mind.

By the end of the last track? Just brilliant. Not only a GREAT score but it’s the BEST Rocky related score ever IMO. It just takes everything I loved about Conti’s scores, removes all that dated disco cheese (a few moments of throwback to the corny 70s sung lyrics notwithstanding) and replaces it with a much more and glorious modernization of the symphonic portions of those scores. Love the new theme for Creed. Perfectly cut from the same cloth as Conti’s Rocky theme. Can’t get it out of my head.

This is exactly WHY not having Conti on board turned out to be a GOOD thing. Wasn’t that impressed with his last score, and am fully of aware of the initial problems surrounding his involvement with it also.

Firstly, I have to admit that this score is not only fantastic in every sense of the word (a huge surprise), it’s the best Rocky related score ever put out IMHO, surpassing even the original. Secondly…. when are these album producers going to realise that laying dialogue over tracks is never not going to be "annoying"? And to "stop" doing it?

Here I rectify the superfluous situation they created with doing just that. Here is the music, with all dialogue "removed" and tracks affected re-edited by myself. You want dialogue? Go and watch the also fantastic movie playing at your local theatre, or coming soon.
