A little bummed though, no single song here is as good as 117 was. I mean, yes, overall it sounds like it’s better than halo 4… but I wanted maybe some more outspoken pieces here. And some of the overused techno junk ruins some of the songs, which is a real shame.
I’m hoping there’s some better tracks that weren’t released, but doubting it. I’m REALLY hoping they a least used the original 117 in this game at some point.
But anyway, what’s everyone’s favorite so far? I’m liking Blue Team and Light is Green more than the others.
As with the previous poster, I was tremendously looking forward to this soundtrack since Halo 4:s soundtrack in my opinion is the absolutely best soundtrack in the entire Halo franchise, if thinking about the number of good tracks compared to the middle or low quality segments of the OSTs.
But what is this, I ask? Where are the epic cues, melodious tracks and the sweeping orchestral songs that were in the past Halo soundtracks? This soundtrack disappointed me since I was expecting more of the musical goodness and especially since the track 117 in Halo 4 is truly awesome, and that composer did the whole Halo 5 OST. My favorite track is undoubtedly Blue Team, just like Lalam24 said. I feel largely sad since I know it will be a long time until another Halo soundtrack will come out, and I have been listening to Halo music since the first game, and I listen to it almost daily because it’s so wonderful, emotional and epic.

I think my expectations may have just been too high. I mean, some tracks are good but overall it’s just… bland. And very inconsistent. Some tracks are overly repetitive and don’t seem to go anywhere, then the ones that aren’t repetitive have short bursts that do very little for me.
I have a feeling that aside from Blue Team, the early preview tracks were obviously the best of the group. I was thinking it was a possibility but hoping that wasn’t the case as they were all decent, but nothing incredible.
Thanks!
Thanks.
Thanks.
new for the series 😉 he also composed music for metal gear solid franchise: portable ops, 4, peace walker just to name a few.

Seriously, how can you say that Halo 4 music is the best? For sure it is good but it is so different from the previous halo.
Here is my opinion:
Halo is a videogame that is quite mythical in a sense legendary, even holy some would say, and the chorus, with religious tone, that is so characteristic of Halo’s 1 OST is emblematic for me. As a person who played all halo until halo 4, I have to say that Martin O’Donnell did an amazing job scoring for the franchise. Notably Halo 2 and Halo ODST OST is simply gorgeous.
With the new Halo trilogy (4 to 6), rules changed, Martin was left and Davidge showed up. A new dynamic in the music appeared from that change, something more artificial, more mechanic, electronic; despite fitting well with the new Halo’s story direction, we completely lost that "religious", sacred music tone and I have to admit I preferred previous Halo soundtrack as I would consider it more dynamic and epic compared to the too "mechanical" music of Davidge.
Anyway that’s my opinion I just wanted to share. Nonentheless Halo’s franchise music is always top notch, no matter which artistic sense you prefer.
Upon then, thanks OP for the post!
