Sorry, "like" function killed a lot of conversation in this forum and in many cases, it made people wonder why the like function was there, if on one is even saying thanks.
And what is it the dependency about the "Like" button?

I have to say that I liked the like button. I enjoyed seeing the numbers rack up if people liked my share.
But now it’s gone. And I can see why that’s good. Because it actually does make people show some actual appreciation for a share, like Orie said. Instead of people just pressing a button, they will (or should) make a comment saying thank you.

It means a lot more than just a crappy notification.

I think your logic is flawed.
What is "real appreciation"? Who is to define that? You? I would say real appreciation is buying the albums and not pirating them here at all.
How is saying just "thanks" more real than clicking "like"? A thread where replies consist of nothing but "thanks" is not a conversation. It looks like spamming. Therefore "likes" could only substitute "thanks" and not real talk. We could still have a conversation if we wanted, "likes" were not a substitute for that and I don’t think they were meant to be. Maybe "likes" should’ve been renamed "say thanks".
I find it pointless to post a new reply if I have nothing to say other than "thanks". The like button was a convenient solution to that.
But I won’t clamor for it to be reinstated. I’ll just download and go.

I see where you’re coming from Dante, but you don’t share a soundtrack and then hope to make conversation.
You share a soundtrack so that people can listen to it. If they like it and aren’t lazy, they’d say thank you. Or indeed, like the post.

Actually it seems most people are leaving me reputation comments now (that don’t say anything most of the time). I think folks are using it as a substitute.

It’s the best of both worlds. They press a button and make a comment.
