Welcome to the VGMPP#2, the Video Game Music Preservation Project #2!!

As the forum has changed its internal structure, my old project with almost 90 pages (!) ended as none of the links are working anymore. You can still get all games posted there – just ask and I’ll update the according post if you directly link me to it.
I will post each requested game in a new topic inside the forum and link to it here.

Goal
My goal is – once again – to preserve game music in its source format, i.e. the original copy of the original data. That is, as far manipulated that it’s playable or decodable with some tool but the stream data itself has to be unchanged. As last time, I’ll try to rip every single platform the game was to released on for the sake of completeness.

Why source formats?
preserving original data
source formats have no quality loss because they are not transcoded
all tracks are decodable to uncompresses PCM, so this is the main resource if you want to make custom soundtracks
faulty frequency or channels can be corrected inside the header without data loss
aesthetic reasons 😉

Current ripping queue (no particular order)

Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell: Blacklist ~ 2013 ~ PC, PS3, X360
Far Cry 3 ~ 2012 ~ PC, PS3, X360
Amped 3 ~ 2005 ~ X360
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock ~ 2007 ~ PC, PS2, PS3, X360, Wii

Decoding/Playing

bika (Bink audio) – binkconv.exe from the RAD game tools: RAD Game Tools (http://www.radgametools.com/) + eventually a batch file to open *.bika files (binkconv %1 "%~d1\%~p1\%~n1.wav")
aa3, at3 (Atrac3+) – Sony Sound Forge, foobar with vgmstream plugin
at3 (old Atrac) – Free Download Sony ATRAC3 Audio Codec 0.98 : Sony ATRAC3 Audio codec was developed by Sony for its portable audio players (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/sony_atrac3_audio_codec.htm)
all other formats – vgmstream plugin for Winamp: vgmstream (http://hcs64.com/vgmstream.html)

Requesting

1. Games I have already ripped (link to Google spreadsheet in signature):
– everybody can request
– one request per user

2. Games I haven’t ripped yet:
– only users with more than 100 posts may request
– one request per user

Platforms I can rip (normally):
– PC, Mac
– PS, PS2, PS3, PSP
– Xbox, Xbox 360
– Gamecube, Wii
– Sega Saturn, Sega CD, Dreamcast
– 3DO, Neo Geo CD
– iOS, Android

Platforms I can’t rip:
– any cartridge-based consoles
– pretty much everything pre-1990 (but those can normally be found on different sites like mirsoft.info)
– any game with an engine-exclusive MIDI/Tracker system (some Playstation titles, NDS, 3DS)

All others: ask and I’ll try. 😉

Jesse already posted in the VGMPP that the links will be restored.
So uhm, if you’re reading this Jesse, you might want to delete this topic. 😉
