Has anyone picked up the Blu-Ray? It has the final film version that contains music that was not included on Intrada’s out of print release. Thank you in advance.

I received the Blu Ray of EMPEROR OF THE NORTH today and I gave parts of the isolated score a very quick listen. Unfortunately it is still problematic.

The Main Title (Part One) is not the Marty Robbins vocal that appears in the film – instead it is a weird stripped-down instrumental, missing the vocal elements.

The Main Title (Part Two) is an incomplete mix of the instrumental that appears in the film.

The good news is that the score’s standout instrumental cue, the “Collecting Oil Cans” sequence, is presented in its entirety. In fact it goes on slightly longer than the film version. I love this cue and was severely disappointed when it didn’t appear on the Intrada CD (it was replaced by a song) so it’s great to finally have it here.

Other key tracks appear to be intact, including the film version of the End Titles which isn’t on the Intrada CD. I’ll check out the rest over the next couple of days and report back 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to respond. That’s very interesting about the song. I’ve heard another version from one of Marty Robbin’s albums, back in the 80’s and it was quite different than the one used in the film.
Glad to hear the "Collecting The Oil Cans" is intact. It too, was my favorite cues from the film.
Keep us posted! 🙂
