Does anyone here still play?

I know it’s a random chance but I was wondering if anyone still plays FFXI here. I’ve been active for a long time on Slyph but I hadn’t seen nor heard of anyone here that actually still plays.

I’m thinking of reactivating my account when I have some funds, but I don’t have the last expansion. I’m on Quetzecotl.

I’ve been on Slyph for awhile. I’ve been doing a lot of the new Escha Content plus I decided to work on a relic weapon once again. It’s quiet on this server during some hours but at times it can get busy during prime hours.

After the whole ClickandBuy subscription debacle (as well as LS drama), I let my sub run out and didn’t go back… that was around… 2011 I think. 2 years ago, went to FFXIV and kinda forgot about XI. Shame, as I did have a lot of fun in XI back in the day…

I still play occasionally, but like Rev I’ve kind of abandoned it for FFXIV ARR. That’s not to say FFXI is bad – far from it. I have had an amazing experience over the decade I’ve been playing the game and have so many memories, both good and bad. The recent changes to the game which make it much easier to solo definitely make the game far more enjoyable (such as the Trust npc fighter system), plus little things like extra homepoints to teleport between freely with gil and the easy to use (and free!) glamour system take ideas from FFXIV and improve them, no mean feat.

So yeah, I still play FFXI, just not as much as used to sadly, my (slightly outdated!) character details are in my sig.

It’s been a balance for me. I hadn’t jumped into FFXIV mainly because I don’t need another MMO sucking up my life. Right now FFXI is still going but it’s been slowed compared to it’s hey-day years ago. I’m amazed SE is even releasing new content in this day and age.

Building a relic is nowhere near as hard as it used to be and I’m enjoying the time doing it.

To each their own… I find I’m not paying as much for a Subscription to FFXIV compared to what I paid for FFXI and I don’t have a PC good enough yet to play games on, so sticking with consoles. Have PS4, so it’s FFXIV for me. Don’t get me wrong, i loved FFXI back in the day, but now… yeah, have no real desire to return to Vana’diel. I’ve entertained the thought of doing so… but no. Only know one person (Enkidoh) who still plays on Quetz and what I loved the most, was playing with groups of people… instead of NPC’s…

Yeah I won’t argue that the trust system while good isn’t something I like on FFXI as much as playing with people. Thankfully there are still group events but yeah, Trusts make a lot of people play solo.

I haven’t played it in a while. May revisit all of them again soon.

There’s a lot of incentive to play now since there’s so much new content.

Gawd I hope not. I’d hoped this schluck would eventually taper off into obscurity like a really bad fad. Instead, they just remade it and called it 14. If anyone does still play, guess what! There’s a shiny, polished new version just waiting for you to get your cheesepuff grease-soaked hands on, and it’s every bit as shite as the old model.

Never played this game!

Simply because I believe that if you buy a game, you should not have to pay extra to play it.

Bit like paying for a taxi, then paying again, to get in it.

My last time I’ve played this game was Feb 2019, the problem is that I can’t play this game more that 2 weeks. I just install the game over and over again and then delete it because the huge problem of this game is the gameplay itself. All the other things (music, graphics, atmosphere, landscapes, storyline) are really, really good.
But this game got a really slow gameplay. I’ve played a lot of MMOs (WoW, Vindictus, Aion, Lineage II, EverQuest II, Wildstar, Guild Wars 2 and a lot more) but this game is really special, but the gameplay along with the interface is really bad.
Basically you get into the game and you don’t know what to do, even at the first mission. I remember looking into Wiki and Youtube tutorial for completing missions.
You don’t know how to start RotZ missions, how to start a new advanced class, how to break the lvl 75 limit, how to go to certain zones, you need to look always for wiki.

I am aware that this is an old game and one of the first MMOs, I always want to rejoin the game just like to enter Zi’tah for the music, or get some feelings while walking on Sarutabaruta. But then I remember that there is no way I can finish this game, too hardcore for me, too boring leveling up gameplay, too slow. I don’t think I will join it again (sadly), but what I will remember forever are the music (infact I did 2 cover albums for FFXI).

I really hope for a reboot of this game for PC, not the mobile R2 thing, with simplified things.

Playing fun private servers was better because of 5x EXP, higher movement speed, mog portal to every zones, etc.. but those still can’t save this game for the gameplay itself
