ir’d like to present to you ‘The Crime Jazz Definitive Collection’.
Ir’d been a fan of the collection way back, having downloaded it from some torrent, and later visited the site in question, for background info, where I realised that the links had been dead for some time and wouldn’t be re-uped.
On a personal note, the site and this collection as a ‘hobby’ project belittles the proffessionalism and high standard that ensured.
The artwork alone, by the originator and compiler THXjay, was way beyond what the mainstream commercial ‘bods’ would have achieved.
Four of the volumes are "mixes" by Licorice Pizza, and the collection, as a whole are worthy of more audience.
Luckily, THXjay is actually also a member of this forum, and has allowed me to re-up this collection, so please, seek THXjay out and thank him for his efforts, for what is considered by many, and certainly by myself, to be the ‘Definitive Crime Jazz Collection’.
I also believe that if it hasn’t already, this collection deserves ‘cult’ status.

Thank you, Guideff, for sharing this! 🙂
Grateful to you. Take care.
The original intention for volumnes 2,3,4,and 5 ("mixes" by Licorice Pizza) were that they be downloaded as one single file each. There was talk at ‘The Crime Lounge’, back then, of some cue file being available to separate the whole into individual tracks. It appears that future torrent files must have used this cue file to such effect that they forgot to seed the original one file. That’s the rub….you just can’t cue a mix.
What I ended up with was ‘individual tracks’ that stop short of an ending – with the next track colliding into the end of the previous one. I actually don’t think there’s any hope of the original whole files being available any more.
With the help of Audition3 I’ve managed, in effect, to recreate Vol.2 (the mix) into one original track file, (as I will with Vol.3,4,and 5 also), as they should be.
So below I’ve given the tracked version link (as I received it) and also my recreation. (with the hope that I’ve done it justice, but that’s for you to judge).
Also particularly with this Volume there appears to be some discrepancy between whats on the back-cover tracklist and the actual content. The original scan states 28 tracks when in actual fact only 27 are present. With a bit of gigery-pokery (ie with the help of photoshop) I redid a newer version. I’ve included my new back cover and still left the original one in the scans folder, so you can see what I mean).

Well! This is the last of the mixes.
Licorice Pizza, as the originator of these mixes, Where-ever in the world you are, thankyou.

It’s a pity it’s no longer active.
Cheers.
Particular thanks for doing them as a single file. Split tracks just don’t work for mixes like this.
Cheers!
This is the last contribution by Licorice Pizza, and although hinted on the back cover as a "mix by", it is actually individually tracked all the way. Although MP3 variable (very), the end result is a great nostalgic sounding to the time. And with the added bonus disc, this volume is a good exit encore for Licorice Pizza.

Sadly, this is the final volume of Jazz Crime that was ever done.
Having said that, it is a 2 discer, so here it is, out with a bang…..

So all that’s left to say, really is thanks to Licorice Pizza (where-ever he may be), and especially a big thanks to THXjay for his compilations, artwork, for for being the originator of it all.
Greatly appreciated.
When Guideff contacted me about posting up the collection I was surprised as it had been so long since I semi-retired my site "The Crime Lounge". It’s still there but I haven’t had the time to continue work on it, and being a self-confessed perfectionist I would rather leave it than start doing sub-standard stuff.
I did always intend to go back and continue the Crime Jazz series at some point, either with more volumes or just redo them with lossless versions. I don’t usually bother with mp3 stuff these days as I’ve moved over to flac where possible. My media player/tablet remote app system is all tagged and bagged to give me lovely lossless lovelyness 🙂
Anywhoo….
Guideff has asked me if it would be OK for him to continue this series with a "Season Two" using my basic template with all his own artwork and track selections. I’ve seen the first couple and am more than happy to hand over the baton to him as he obviously cares about the series and I did always want it to grow into a definitive set!
So I hope you will all give Guideff your continued support and I’ll check in to see how things go. I look forward to future volumes in "Season Two" 🙂
Thanks all!
Jason
Many thnaks for all this!

where I’ve uploaded vol.1 of Crime Jazz – Season 2.
Sorry to say, but they never started out as Flac, but hopefully THXjay who originated the series is contemplating upgrading the collection, maybe sometime in the future.
I daresay that most of the tracks could by now, on an individual basis be available in better quality some where, bearing in mind that the last of this collection was finished way back in 2009 (I think).
In any case, THXjay have good taste for music!

I have re-uped with Zippyshare, most of the posts.
Is there any chance for a FLAC version? Sorry for appearing ungrateful (which I am absolutely NOT!) but I’m afraid I am an audio snob and I can hear the distortions and fuzzy high frequencies that have been mangled by MP3 compression. I’d love to hear the original sound. 🙁

As I mentioned in post #45 to the same query

Thank you for pointing me to this! I missed the post #45. Of course you are right, one could just search and find these tracks oneself to make ones own collection. But I am a lazy bum and just asking for it so much easier… 🙂
Was going to post for a sincere thanks, but this is maculated by the warning for Volume 06, Disc 2. The link is down.
Neverthless, still a sincere great ‘thank you!’ for THXjay and Licorice Pizza for creating these mixes. THXjay, the cover designs are stunning. Well, not really. I didn’t lost my arms strenght, put an idiotic bug-eyed smile and drooled ‘oooo’ at my screen, but it was close. ^_^ Top notch!
And a great thanks to Guideff for presenting and maintaining them to us. Really great! Can’t wait to hear the music. And to have a look at season two (already noticed the posted link). This is a lot of good music!
Thanks once again, guys!
I do actually intend to re-up the all the links to Mediafire someday, when I get the time.
Zippyshare was a godsend at the time, but there is that ‘use it or loose it aspect to it.’
PM for link.
I believe there are more. Crime Jazz season 1 contains 17. But there’s also a season 2 which contains at least another 10 incl. Italian, British, Blaxpolitation, 1950s, etc.
I hadn’t even heard of the voices one you posted elsewhere.

Yep, I meant all 17 from original collection. Season 2 is another thread, I don’t have those.
PM for link.
Thanks. Link received.

I suppose it depends on your connection. Downloading 3 Gb only took me a few minutes.
PM for link.
Awesome!! Thanks for the link, Plisken!

By the way, it seems the torrent (or a clone of it) you refer to in the first post may still be (slightly) active.
make couple more posts in the forum to activate your PM
They can be had accessed through the notveryprettymusic blog.com site and the password is that word. Very highly recommended and so are other treasures found there.
hello, please can you send me the link? please, thanks a lot
