2016 Final Fantasy Rumble Qualifiers

Hi! The purpose of this thread is to determine what tracks will be competing in next year’s iteration of the Final Fantasy rumble. Rather than simply replacing the least successful entries from 2015, I thought I’d have a "qualification" phase where the lowest ranked losers face off against newcomers for entry into 2016’s round of 128.

I am leaving this open to voting until probably next May, but I thought I’d post it up right now while the game was still on everyone’s mind (mine included). I’m not going to push for a big turn-out here or present it competition style, but I thought this would be more fun than simply making the selections myself. If you just want to vote on a few, be my guest.

Pairing is randomized loser vs newcomer with a future guarantee against the same two tracks going head-to-head twice in qualifiers.

In the event of a tie, the new track wins.

If you want to see a song added, request away in here. I’m cutting off each game at 15 entries so FF6 is out and a few others are ‘soft’ capped with max entries including some which have never actually appeared in the annual game and can be dropped.

Breaking this down into groups for ease of voting. Youtube links are provided, but I will not be checking to make sure they stay active.

It’s surprising, the number of songs that I don’t know by name, but they are all memorable songs, which makes me remember them, wouldn’t have known them but by listening to them, appreciate it.

There’s a song, which I’m conscious is probably from a previous ff, because it makes an appearance in FFXIV (possibly 3) which is called Syrcus Tower, i can send it to you if you dont find it, could you put it up for ffxiv?

Also, who would have known, that ff3 would have such amazing music in it. I’ve really appreciated that you find the originals also. Why is it that ff3 has not so many famous songs, where as the others are known to all (does it have a notable place in the series? like the others?)

Yes, that is the one, set on repeat on my computer. I’m also sad hearing that dark messenger wont be in it. That’s sad. The more i listen to it, the more i appreciate it and Kuja’s struggle.

Oh, Dark Messenger will definitely be making in appearance in 2016, if that’s what you mean. In addition to the 44 match-ups in this thread, 84 other tracks are guaranteed an appearance in 2016 based upon past performance.

That’s what i was hoping. I thought that it being on this list meant that it was either in or out. I think they did a real good job building you up to this moment in the game. it is one of the most memorable songs of my experience of Final Fantasy.

Ah, I think I see the confusion now. Kuja’s Theme and Dark Messenger are two different songs. Dark Messenger is guaranteed entry next year. Kuja’s Theme has to beat Syrcus Tower.

Whoops! Head in the sand, i’m getting it mixed up with this years rumble. haha!

This is an interesting match up. I’m going for Syrcus Tower in this one. though it’s not only because of the sentiment only. They’ve done some interesting refrains in this version which tie in to the vibe of the dungeon. Like the epic size of the tower and its general look and feel.
