Notes
In late 1998, TDI released the first half of the 1997 Shepherds Bush concert, called the ‘Vintage Set’, on the CD Valentine Wheels. It was first available only by internet order in a so-called "Holiday Season Booster", including a T-shirt, an autographed photo, a sticker and the CD. In April 1999 the album was officially released with slightly different cover artwork.

During the first part of the concert Tangerine Dream had performed compositions of the range from 1977 to 1997; the corresponding original versions are featured on the albums Sorcerer (1977), Thief (1981), Poland, Warsaw In The Sun (both 1984), Le Parc (1985), Underwater Sunlight (1986), 220 Volt Live (1993), Tangents (1994), Tyranny Of Beauty (1995) and Oasis (1997).

I’m afraid these files are lossy.
It happened to me with other albums by Tangerine Dream circulating on the net, for example, I have never got "The Keep" (1997 edition) in true lossless.

Time ago i read about that MP3 source material were used to compile latest Robert Palmer re-issues from Edsel. Allegedly:

Edsel Records reject Robert Palmer MP3 mastering claims | superdeluxeedition (http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/edsel-refute-robert-palmer-mp3-mastering-claims/)

…. so maybe that could have happened with some stuff of Tangerine Dream, or maybe someone simply put a fake lossless circulating on the net.

… and further info about the case of Robert Palmer. Just for curiosity.

Unclear what you mean. I ripped it myself from CD purchased directly from TDI (Germany) back in 1998. I also have a slightly older version of the same album (late 1997 release). They both sound identical.

It’s strange. I opened the first track in Cool Edit (similar to Adobe Audition), and I saw that the spectrogram has no high frequencies, like it was an mp3 sourced file. But maybe another (expert) user could correct me.
If i’m wrong, sorry, but if not the question is similar to what happened to Robert Palmer’s reissues (for example): is it a mistake from the original record label?

Anyway, thank you for the upload.

.
I re-listened to it and it does sound compressed and not-as-"good" as other TD albums, including the live album that was released just prev. to this (Tournado, live in Poland 1997 — will post that soon!). Having most of TDs discography, I think VW 1998 is a rare exception (maybe they had to use in-venue recording equip/personnel at Shepherds Bush Empire , etc.) IAC, wait for my posting of Tournado — that opening drum segment is v. well recorded and even "audiophile".

Thanks for the share 13mh13, big TD fan here! As to the audio quality it’s not bad considering it’s a concert.
(recorded concerts are best listed to with a good pair of headphones)
