Very nice!!!!! I have the original CD (of Big Screen Records, 13 tracks). It is one of my favorite compositions of the 90s. Very beautiful! Horner composed many soundtracks in year 1993, and almost all are magnificent.

One of those Horner scores that features his traveling piano motif. loved this one when it was first released, then lost it in a burglary.

The film isn’t actually about Bobby Fischer. It’s really a kind of metaphor for searching for the next chess genius, the next Bobby Fischer, in a sense. The film is about a father who pushes his young son into the world of competitive chess, and how he learns over time that it’s not winning the game that matters nearly as much as the relationship between father and son. It’s based on a book written by the father.

Let’s face it, any movie literally about Bobby Fischer wouldn’t have such a gentle lyrical and innocent score.

The man was all kinds of things but this score doesn’t represent any of them. Thank goodness for that.
