Seriously too good to not buy straight up…I overlooked this wonderful score until the Evolution version came out and IMO righted all the wrongs of the original arrangements from the original game.

We gotta buy these albums so Falcom gives Ys 8’s score the same treatment!

I’m sure some of you US-Bound bracers are kinda ticked that the Evolution games will probably never make it outside of Japan. I decided that I’d like the best of both worlds: the Evolution music in the original PC version of LOH: Trails in the Sky! Converted to OGG and looped, the music has been changed inside out. It’s quite like playing a different game. I’ve been given permission by logi74 to go ahead and share this with you right here on this same topic:

Just as a heads up, I’ve been playing the game with this and it’s been smooth going until I made it to the Royal Academy. That piece gets stuck in an endless loop once it reaches a certain point. Since it’s driving me crazy, I’ll have to restore the original files (or at least replace this particular piece with the original). Otherwise, the music is a terrific upgrade.

I don’t actually agree for some of the tracks. Sometimes they over-arrange some of the songs or do them in a way I think is inferior.

For example, I think the Fading Light of the Sealed Land from Sora no Kiseki Zanmai (which I also posted here) is far better than either the original or the Evolution version.

I can’t tell you how much this means to me – thanks a lot! This was the critical reason why I decided to buy Trails instead of waiting an eternity for Evolution, and boy am I glad I followed through with it. Do you think you will do another patch as soon SC-Evo comes out in January? 🙂

According to XSEED, licensing issues are the reason why they’re not bringing over the Evolution titles. Not only are the remakes done by Kadokawa/Pyramid, not Falcom, they also use full Japanese voice acting from Chara-Ani, meaning XSEED would need to negotiate with three different companies to get the rights. This also means that if they DIDN’T get Chara-Ani they’d need to dub the entire game on top of all that.

It’s a nightmare to deal with, so you’re not gonna see them.

Xseed barely got Second Chapter out as it was…I read the Kotaku article "The Curse of Kiseki" and……….I kinda don’t know what to say. Call me crazy but I felt all right with triple-dipping (PSN, Steam, AND GOG) with SC; they deserved it (and it helped to have PS and Steam credits). But why GOG? So I can stick it in my flash drive and play it on a computer when bored at work. *insert Tita’s laugh here*

Yeah, I read Xseed’s statement as well in that regard. I’m glad they are that open towards their community instead of responding with "No plans yet." copypasta.
With "eternity" I was referring to the possibility of a fan translation and the means to apply it, which both would take another few years I guess…

Indeed, that article was quite the read. Kudos to your triple-dipping! I’m almost done with FC Chapter 2 and this series deserves a lot more attention + support (my favorite JRPG in fact; it has so much charm in the character interactions and sidequests, coupled with a good battle system, great comedy and great soundtrack). At the very least I will gift one copy of FC to a Steam friend during Christmas.

On the SC Evo OST: according to VGM DB they will release it at the end of December during a special event, while the official release will take place mid-January. My favorite aspect of the remade soundtracks is always the implementation of live instruments (similar to their remakes of the Ys series which also counts among my favorites).

January 15th can’t come quick enough! At least I’ll be keeping busy with Trails of Cold Steel come Dec. 22nd.
