Back in the day…and possibly even now…budget labels would often record their own knockoff versions of film soundtracks to capitalize on their success, often with practically unknown singers and new different arrangements and songs not from the film. Disney did this with their own film soundtracks, with bigger budgets and sometimes well-known singers. While this album doesn’t have any big name singers credited (the back cover just refers to the singers as "The Jungle V.I.P.’s), it definitely offers new and different jazzier interpretations of the 6 songs from their 1967 film of The Jungle Book, plus two songs not from the film that still had a "jungle" motif. Like many of those records, this one has never been released on CD, and while many of them have found their way to iTunes in recent years, this one remains unavailable. This copy is ripped from a not-so-mint condition vinyl using a not-too-top-of-the-line turntable. Still, the quality is listenable, and after click/pop removal, even more listenable, but you won’t forget that the source is vinyl.

1. Colonel Hathi’s March (1:57)
2. The Bare Necessities (3:30)
3. I Wan’na Be Like You (4:16)
4. The Abba Dabba Honeymoon (1:36)
5. Trust In Me (3:16)
6. That’s What Friends Are For (2:10)
7. My Own Home (2:52)
8. Civilization (3:07)

Thank you!
There are the re-recorded versions I loved as a kid. I’d forgotten how different they were to the original recordings.

Excellent article about this re-recorded Disneyland Records version of the soundtrack HERE (http://cartoonresearch.com/index.php/the-grooviest-jungle-book-on-records/)
