Artdink has always been a very quirky company, developing hot air balloon simulator games, unique puzzle games, strategic mecha-based games, and above all developing the longest-running train simulation game franchise of all times. This franchise, originally romanized as A Ressha de Ikou, and also localized in the west as A-Train, has up to nine numbered installments, and some others not included in the main series.
Very recently, the latest title of this long-standing series has been released in the west under the title: A-Train 3D: City Simulator. Just to be clear, this game was released in 2014 in Japan and now has been released in America. What I’m sharing with you is the soundtrack to this game, which is mostly comprised of previous material. Almost the entire soundtrack are tracks from A-Train 6 and 2001, with a few from A-Train 5, 4, 7 and 8. So, more than a proper soundtrack, what this cd really is, is a compilation album of the music of the A-Train series.
The music is certainly fitting for a game that consists in building railway and managing various aspects of the train business. Expect lots of urban jazz-styled music, although there are also uplifting and evocative orchestral pieces, laid-back tracks and extremely playful pieces. After listening to this, it’s hard not to find something that resonates with you. As diverse as it gets.
Don’t miss the opportunity to get to know the unique A-Train’s sound history.
It’s a pity that this doesn’t cover everything in the game, maybe VengefulChip or someone else will be able to do a more comprehensive gamerip.
Right now, I can only offer these gamerips (http://excellent8express.web.fc2.com/A-Train/BGM.html) that include the BGM used in A-Train 6 and A-Train 2001. In some cases, the tracks are shortened in comparison with the soundtrack versions and the sound quality is a bit lacking, but is a good way to know better the soundtracks of these titles.
I can’t thank you enough for digging these rarities up.
