2019 Update: Oblivion (Complete / Film Mix / Isolated Score / Lossless)

2019 update. Last time the score was improperly mixed.
This time, all 5 audio channels were utilized and downmixed to stereo (front left, front right, center, rear left, rear right).
Source cues were created from scratch, cue numbers are correct based on the sheets.
This is as complete as it gets – every single ounce of audio heard in the film is present, as heard in the film.

Format is 16-bit/44kHz ALAC.

Yeah, now if Apple can release iOS 8.4 with the ability to play 5.1 I’ll be a happy camper.

But what’s even weirder is that it plays a 5.1, 1080p copy of Age of Extinction just fine. Yet when I sync Oblivion and go to listen to the first track it just skips every single one all the way to the end…..

I think I confuse you with foxtown, don’t ask why. You the one who was complaining about me posting this a few weeks ago when I mentioned it in another thread? Saying it’s not necessary and all that?

I think because iOS devices separate their media players.
Music is pre-dominantly stereo so they don’t have much interest for providingn free surround sound support.
Movie/video players probably support surround sound.
I know with Android, the best surround sound support comes from premium-paid apps.

With iTunes, it’s for both music and video playback.
Probably why it plays 5.1 music, too.
But, they won’t necessarily sell music in surround sound. Just support it because it’s easier to slump all the code into one function. :p

I prefer the first three mixed as one track like on one of the other mixes out here.
Album vs. movie doesn’t matter to me. I won’t give them THAT much respect. :rolleyes:

When it’s available, yes. Some time this week. Things are starting to get backed up, I still have a film mix of an entirely different film to upload

Instead of converting it to 96kHz ALAC, I did 48kHz AAC. It’s still in 5.1 though, which is a huge plus. There’s definitely a difference between the 5.1 and the stereo. Hellen Keller would be able to hear the difference. That’s how I fixed it.

It now plays on any and all iOS devices. That’s what it does.

Ah nice. AAC is very powerful.
What did you use to resample the audio to 48kHz?

XLD, best app there is for Mac OS for audio converting

Can you send me links for the original 96kHz in surround sound?
eac3to uses a modified SSRC library to resample and it’s incredibly clean for resampling.
eac3to and Audacity do a nice job.
Audacity tends to taper off at teh very peak though.

XLD doesn’t seem to be on that website.
XLD does great for straight forward conversions, though. But resmapling is risky.
Some libraries tend to create a lot of sonic/acoustic feedback.

They are, because I don’t do FLAC. I convert to ALAC (in this case, AAC cause iTunes is stupid and wouldn’t accept a 5.1 ALAC file, yet it would accept a 5.1 AAC file so whatever) and then tag the files in iTunes that way. If you want the AAC set I can also send it. It’s properly tagged. And you know if I done tagged it, it’s legit 😉

That’s okay, I’ll chuck on the tags using your iTunes snapshot as a reference point on the two whole gigs of FLACs I got 😉

Well what device do you listen to your music on? VLC? iTunes? iPod/iPhone? WMP?

I recommend the AAC set for iOS, and the FLAC set for VLC or anything that isn’t Apple…

It was a lot of hard work, believe me. I was working with a 96kHz/5.1 channel file. It was a bitch. But judging by people’s overwelmingly positive reviews, I know it was worth it in the end 🙂
