thanks for demos
Ah well, this is still cool. 🙂 Hope the sessions are around the corner sometime…
Thanks!
Btw there was no CAPS
Btw there was no CAPS
I was talking about the usual shit in this forum.
Sooner or later people will come in shouting and making jokes.
The joke is that people will demand for the complete score using all caps to make their statement.
You’ve been here since 2009, you should understand that.

"inb4" for clarity: INB4 | Know Your Meme (http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/inb4–2)
I seem to recall it before Courage.
Generally, anyone who doesn’t contribute, has a few posts, newly joined.
They’re all liable to use all caps.
And excessive exclamation marks.
EDIT: "Generally, anyone who doesn’t contribute, has a few posts, newly joined."
For clarity, this statement is NOT directed at OP.
It should be adequately clear to interpret.
Couldn’t be more clearer than that.
Unless someone knows how many demos HZ wrote for SH2 then I think the title is fine 🙂
I too think the title is fine. It’s not like you labeled it "complete" demos or anything.
People could think that this topic has a full demo score like the one for POTC4
People could think that this topic has a full demo score like the one for POTC4
Sure, but that’s a faulty assumption on their part. Perhaps you could call it "Suite Demos" in the title. People will still get confused, but whatever.
But this is a minor issue
AGoS feels like he burned the whole studio down and re-worked Sherlock from the ground up.
Leaving out a lot of the stellar themes well-developed in the first one.
The retail album lacks details. It was mainly a showcase album for all the audio editing done with source music.
"Die Forelle (The Trout)" By Franz Schubert (the one Jared Harris karaokes on acid with) was digitally butchered to create the mix you hear in the film. Although different on the OST and film.
Mozart’s Don Giovanni was remixed with the aid of ADX (http://audionamix.com/adx-history-sherlock-holmes-a-game-of-shadows/) to create "To The Opera!" cue.
And for usual studio sales tactics: "Romani Holiday" (Antonious Remix)
It seems more like this was made for commercial action.
The action cues are really the highlight of the score.
The action music is great. The other stuff is just okay.
Even if you knew how many demos Hans wrote, how would that make this situation any different?? The title still implies that you’ve got the complete demos, when you’ve actually only got three cues.
But whatever. Making a mountain out of a molehill here. Thanks for sharing anyway. 🙂

So if I posted a thread titled "Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows (Sessions) – Hans Zimmer" that would be ok because I didn’t use the word "complete"??
Splitting hairs too much.
How many tracks there are isn’t a requirement for thread titles.
3 demos or 300 demos doesn’t mean the title lied.
You set your goals irrationally.
Your example to post a sesssions thread is unclear.
Do you mean to create a thread for sessions and then post nothing or a single track of sessions?
Suites vs Demos is a tricky concern.
We’ve seen suites as demos. How else does music come to be for the final version?
Day One Dark wasn’t written for a track for the movie. There was no footage to use. Only an idea.
DOD can be seen as a suite because it pertains to nothing.
Whether it was slightly modified to be used in the film makes no difference.
The original demo vs the film mix vs retail albums are all different and treated with different names to reflect the time of their creation.
It’s like with end credits. They’re mostly all suites. Rarely music composed specicifically for the end titles.
But most artists don’t go out of their way to call them suites. They just use "end credits" or give it some other name.
I still don’t see the logic in your exmample of titling sessions when you have none to contribute and don’t offer how your thread will continue once named as sessions.

The title still implies that you’ve got the complete demos
Doesn’t imply anything except that OP didn’t feel the need to specify how many exactly.
The first post clearly rectifies this mishap (on everyone else’s part).
Interesting how the first two tracks are just music from the first film.
I agree with those who agree that OP doesn’t need to specify total tracks.
Others can assume what they want. Let it be their fault.
Demos means demos…..maybe HZ wrote just 3 of them :p
Anyway, as I said I listed the number of cues in the post. You click, you look, you want to download ok, you don’t it is ok too
You need to read the post to get the link anyway so it doesn’t cost you any more effort
This track has been around for ages
News to me. :/
It was posted publicly by Garage included in his Blu-Ray rip of the soundtrack. And Garage got it from someone who wasn’t supposed to share it. All of the demos might have been posted long ago if some trust hadn’t been broken.

Oh. I thought that’s where.
But was it really "ages" ago, or is this "internet ages" like the second day Call of Duty comes out and everyone finished it, played every MP map and got sick of it on day two?
so.. sorta the former
Just another reason to not like Garage.
That’s a ridiculous comparison. A session has multiple tracks by definition. If you only had a few unreleased cues, you’d just post them as… wait for it… "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (3 Unreleased Cues)" or something like that.
Garage is the reason why the tuition of my school is going up…
I was thinking the "Hans and Guy" one was.
It’s the bonus track ain’t it?
If you have it, you might want to let me know.
Seriously?! It’s a completely valid comparison. 😀
Just using your own logic, you could rename this thread as "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (3 Demos)" or something like that. Just like "Sessions", the word "Demos" has multiple tracks by definition unless you specify that it’s only select tracks, in this case only 3.

I am formally looking to trade some exceptionally rare material for Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
If you have it, you might want to let me know.
Ah, some exceptionally rare material. Wouldn’t we all love that. 😉
Yay good for you! :awsm:
But seriously, I agree it’s a teeny tiny thing to be squabbling about, but I’m not the only one who got all excited when I saw the title before opening the thread. But whatever.

When I saw the title I shouted "F(bleep)K ME" in the middle of dinner… my parents were not happy about that xD
No. The "Guy and Hans" track is very similar to the Hans and Guy bonus iTunes track from the first Sherlock Holmes. However, it is a different orchestration and a different pitch (same speed/tempo, though)–and it’s definitely a demo. The "Holmes" track is an extended version of the last part of the end credits from the first movie (second part of the track Catatonic from the OST), and it is, again, a demo. And "Moriarty" is a demo of Shadows part 1 and (almost all of) part 2, and it ends with a very basic idea of the arrangement heard in "The Red Book".
What’s most curious is that none of these tracks are on the list of titles from ASCAP. Really makes me wonder how the OP just had only these laying around and was pretty sure they hadn’t been posted before. Also I wonder where the rest of the score is. I’ve heard something bigger is making its rounds, though I believe it’s going to be the demos, instead of the real recorded score–which I am still totally okay with.
Something bigger? Like what?
