Enjoy and Please Say Thanks 🙂
many thanks!!
And Brian Tyler & Elfman rocks in this one 😉
Thanks frank for posting one my most anticipated scores 😀
Thanks so much 🙂
I scanned with 2 different scanners and the found nothing.
It’s a witch! Burn it!
Hail Hydra!
Bwuh-ha-ha-ha!
Yes. Probably have to wait for a complete release…
No it is not so far. I am on 27.

Wait, they’re going to release more? There’s only half the movie on this soundtrack (comparing duration of songs confirmed to be in the movie to the length of movie) and Brian isn’t really one to share stuff too often.
it’s like they brought elfman to do silvestri cross with tyler.

Thanks for the upload, btw. 🙂
NO ‘STRINGS’???

I HATE YOU Brian Tyler!! 🙁 Why didn’t you put your soundtrack together well???!
Thanks for the upload!
Me too !!!

Didn’t somebody here say that their friend (who’d seen a preview) confirmed that Strings did make an appearance or two in the movie? Perhaps those moments just didn’t make the official album. Record companies have made worse decisions before.
Incomplete/corrupted download from iTunes, it has happened to me several times, simply remove the file from the folder and click the button again to re-download.
I’m waiting to purchase the CD version, but thanks anyway.

welcome to every movie soundtrack ever
It is pretty rare that a composer reuses an old theme so this is good enough! Elfman’s theme sounds great to me!
Many thanks for the share!
Still skips
Yes it is.

cheers…
Yeah, it’s apparently in the film, but I guess not on the OST. 🙁
The song was used in two out of the three trailers, though. Why not include it on the soundtrack??
I was really hoping that they’d include the full trailer tracks of Strings on the OST too… guess that’s not happening.
Still, it’s awesome to know it’s on the film, maybe it could be in a voice silent scene so it can be ripped from blu-ray
Unlikely. It would be considered a source cue and therefore absent. Like Inception. Non, Je Ne Regrette Rien is completely omit from the complete score. That’s what all the gaps in the slates are.
The versions used in the trailers were made by Confidential Music, not Tyler. So they wouldn’t be on the sessions.

+1

wow but then why is so hard to get the official version. Is just a trailer song . .
Hollywood logic
Some companies like Brand X do let the general public listen to their tracks, but they’re the exception, not the rule. Most of the stuff you can find from Audiomachine, X-ray Dog, TSFH, and others is all leaked.
Confidential has placed some of their tracks on their YouTube channel, but not the Strings tracks they composed. 🙁
Can’t say that about Clint Mansell’s Lux Aeterna or John Murphy’s Adagio In D Minor lol

And don’t forget those ninjas…
Ninja Tracks?
There are a lot of companies I like. Confidential, Ninja Tracks, ReallySlowMotion (Cosmogeny is awesome!), Massive Noise Machine, Methodic Doubt, ICON…
"The truth is, I am an ordinary man" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NG41xnV9MWk)
There are really only a few TSFH tracks I especially enjoy listening to repeatedly: Nero, Freeedom Fighters, El Dorado, Children of the War, Dragon Rider, Love & Loss… maybe a couple others.
I really enjoy the entirety of the Bergensen albums though (Illusions and Sun).
If you can confirm for us that I’ve Got No Strings is actually in the film, that’d be greeeaaaatttttt
In the pantheon of Famous Last Words, "I forgot the ninjas" is right up there with Custer’s "Indians, what Indians?", or the Minions wondering "What does that big red button do?" or the missionaries saying, "It’s quiet. Too quiet." (And that’s of course when the ninjas attack.)
Is there no one in Australia/New Zealand who can get us the missing track?
And, well, the problem is track 23. Can’t play it.
And I’d say, this dosen’t sound like a "brian tyler action score" so much here. Not in the way that I expacted. And Silvestri’s Avenger Theme and the Helicarrier cue are still here, in a way.
So now that I’v listened to it I’ve got to say I really like it. Silvestri’s themes are there, though mostly in Elfman’s scoring, Jackmam’s new Cap’s theme was there as well. I wasn’tn’t sure what was going to happen throwing in Danny Elfman in the mix but he did a great job not only with a new variation of Silvestri’s theme but also incorporating Tyler’s Thor theme, Iron Man theme, the Twin’s theme, Ultron’s theme and even Jackman’s Captain America theme. That was a mouthful. Loved hearing all of themes meshed together. I hope they keep Elfman at least for the next Avenger’s film but I think with such a huge amount of characters it’s better to have both Tyler and Elfman scoring.
For those saying it’s just more of the same Tyler, that’s because he did the scoring for two of the Avenger’s and then rehashed the themes and music from those for TMNT. I can’t even listen to that score without thinking Ironman and Thor now. It’s nearly identical. So just don’t listen to TMNT and it’s the score it should be and adding Danny Elfman was a fantastic idea which made it even better. That’s just my two cents though.
I agree on this. I haven’t seen TMNT yet but I did hear the score before it, and even though I like some of the tracks, without visuals I just keep getting reminded of Brian’s work on Thor 2. It’s not as blatant as say, Jablonsky’s work on TF4, of course, but the feeling is still there.
If you can even say there is a proper theme for Captain America in the second film that is. Sure it has some motifs but I wouldn’t say themes.
I’m through track 20. There is a variation of it in 15 and towards the end of track 20. At least that’s what my ears are telling me.
After your listen, you’ll see who is wrong. But maybe I should’ve put it "part of the theme".
You are a little confused bud but it’all good. :0) I totally agree with you that Sivestri’s Avengers theme is used. I wasn’t commenting on what you said. I was referring to Jdow’s comment that he couldn’t hear Captain America’s theme in there. Silvestri’s isn’t but I hear Jackmans.
Here’s an updated version of my first cover. In my opinion, this is way better than the official cover (though I say so myself).

I’m listening to the score right now, and I have to say, I’m actually really enjoying it! I’m currently on track 6, and I’ve already heard the original Avengers theme at least three times, Iron Man’s theme from IM3 at least three times, and some distinct Age of Ultron themes. This is really not as bad as others are saying it is!
–EDIT–
I’m loving the string work on Ultron-Twins, particularly the ‘cello! Chilling stuff.
I see it man. That’s alright. As long as we enjoy this score. 🙂
Oh, would you push off?! Seriously?? Nobody (I repeat, NOBODY) wants to have to send a PM and wait for the link when they could just use the original thread with the direct download link. Besides which, you’re just stealing the OP’s thunder.
I’m assuming Brian Elfman has decided to use the most recent themes for each character. In other words, Djawadi’s and Debney’s Iron Man themes are not used in favour of Tyler’s own IM3 theme, Doyle’s Thor themes are not used in favour of Tyler’s own Thor 2 theme, and Silvestri’s Cap themes are not used in favour of Jackman’s Winter Soldier themes.
But is it me, or this score is even more faceless than Silvestri’s one. Especially for a movie with so much of the iconic characters. Some nice action music (that goes to nowhere), Tyler reminds about his previous contributions for MCU, Elfman is actually having lots of fun with Avengers theme and his usual orchestrations… But I can’t really recall any really that great moment from this one. Sleepwalking as it is.
Zippyshare.com – 23 Avengers Unite.m4a (http://www66.zippyshare.com/v/uVvx8lhP/file.html)
Elfman’s material is not only far better than Tyler’s IMO, Tyler’s is just one big ball of forgettable. I’m actually a fan of Tyler too and enjoyed his Furious 7 score.
I think I’ve just truly realised for the first time, with concrete proof as to not only how much better of a composer Elfman is than Tyler, but also why it isn’t an especially good idea to place two composers together, especially when one has a much more distinctive and identifiable style than the other. Say he didn’t sway too far all you like, I could tell every track that was Elfman’s without even looking. I’d give Elfman’s contribution alone a solid B+. I much prefer his new Avengers/Heroes theme to Silvestri’s as well. He certainly made the wise choice to quote it through variation instead of just flat out reprising it each time.
On that note? I’m very much looking forward to seeing the film at my midnight screening tonight! I can only hope the score has a good placement in this mix and can be heard over the carnage.
Fingers crossed.
It’s a digital download you newb potato! The physical release isn’t until May… No physical = no FLAC (FLAC digital download isn’t a ‘thing’ yet).
Yes, exactly. I hear Iron Man’s, Thor’sThor’s and Cap’s new themes all over. I’m really glad Elfman was able to bring all of Tyler’s, Jackman’s and Silvestri’s themes into his scoring as well. I was a little afraid that the score was going to be all over the place having him come in so late in the game but he did an excellent job.
Still cant make any sense out of it yet…Hopefully it clears up when put to film. Tyler’s Furious 7 score was much more inventive…Yep…Disney really wanted him to subdue himself for this score in favor of a pure symphonical one.
It’d be nice if we come band together and create a map of whose themes are in what track and where in them, just for the sake of reference. That’d be fun. I mostly just hear Silvestri’s Avenger’s theme and Tyler’s Iron Man theme.

I thought I heard a cue from The Dark World during the film itself, but it does seem to be absent from the soundtrack release, I could be wrong though. (There are a lot more cues missing though, including a few reprisals of sections of Silvestri’s original theme, which is more prominently featured in the film itself.)

Dupstep is inventive?, i’m a fan of Tyler’s, but Furious 7 is far worse than Fast Five, in my opinion
In this case with Avengers I GET IT – This is Danny Elfman and Brian Tyler’s impression of Alan Silvestri….OHHHHhhhh OKayyy…
What, Silvestri wasn’t available? I don’t get it….
Oh well..Great score anyway…Just gotta wrap my head around it.

Better now?

Yeah it doesn’t surprise me after what we got for previous Marvel movies that it would turn out this way. After all if Silvestri is relegated to short motifs for the first Avengers film why would we expect this one to be all of a sudden proper classic thematic score with long form themes and orchestral development? I hear a lot of short motif statements but very few theme statements. Remember people the difference between a motif and a theme is how long it is. And 5 notes does not make a theme but a motif.
Thanks for the info! I did not know what the difference was until now.
In which cue or cues does the Tyler avengers theme play? I only noticed the Elfman one. Have to re-listen though as I was doing work at the same time.
I thought I heard a cue from The Dark World during the film itself, but it does seem to be absent from the soundtrack release, I could be wrong though.
Track 18 ???The Battle???.
As I understand it, the theme used by Elfman was actually written by Tyler, wasn’t it?
It kinda always is lol…
See now if I didn’t know who they were, I’d say that’s a picture of a male model with his agent
Interesting. The tie-in must be really important (HYDRA-wise) to be as restrictive when it comes to watching order. Where I live, we usually get MCU films a week earlier as well, and I recall seeing TWS before the SHIELD tie-in without any considerable repercussions.
Sadly, I just learned a few hours ago that Ultron will open here on Apr 30th, when I was expecting it to be here tomorrow 🙁

Yeah Elfman is usually funny-looking, but in that picture in particular…. Dear Lord, he’s much better than this
I???ve heard Kevin Feige hated Silvestri???s music for Avengers and the First Cap movie….
it’s like they brought elfman to do silvestri cross with tyler.
Finally I was starting to think nobody understood my mentality on this! Thank you, Zachip! 🙂
Okay quick question and as of right now, unrelated to The Avengers:
Does anyone know who’s set to provide the music for the Deadpool movie in 2016?

Just like that "ear rapist" Henry Jackman in Winter Soldier
Okay, Feige is now on my "I don’t like him" list. I was a loyal Alan Silvestri fan since I was 8 years old and I will always be. The First thing I heard of his was MouseHunt. I was humming that theme for 4 days straight after I saw it. Good times of Elementary School. Good times. 🙂
———- Post added at 07:45 PM ———- Previous post was at 07:43 PM ———-
They also tracked Silvestri’s music for the opening scene in "Captain America 2". Marvel loves Silvestri, but they don’t want to hire him to write music, I guess.
They’d rather have that "ear rapist" Henry Jackman. His music blows more that a tornado. I could have eaten 3 bean burritos and farted better music than what he provided in Winter Soldier.

I have to say, I’m disappointed in the "remix" of Silvestri’s theme. They barely reused any of it.

Some parts I like and some I hated. "Taking a Stand" is a good though.
It’s 10 minutes of musical awesomeness.

Regardless, the links on posts #1 and #118 (Avengers Unite track) work just fine. I used them a few hours ago.
In fact, shouldn’t the link for Avengers Unite be added to the original post? @yrcfrank (not sure if this domain thing works in the shrine, but it’s worth the try)

10 min….which tracks?
I’d like the sessions as well, only cause the OST sucks
Originally I was bummed when I saw Tyler or Silvestri didn’t do it, then I saw the movie and heard it…good God. Easily my favorite OST of last year, and it’s had a permanent place on my list. Fantastic. Also check out his Kingsman work, it’s flawless as well.
Where did you hear this?
And he likes Tyler?
God that’s depressing to even think about.

The ‘Captain America’ track is about 9 minutes long. I’d add ‘Taking a Stand’ as well.
Guess Danny did not realize that he picked a wrong composer to take a photo with.
Tyler is way more charming, maybe that’s why the "creepy" Danny is here.
And please don’t take this personal Danny, you’re good at your work.

FLAC digital download is very much a thing. There are many sites that sell legit FLAC and DSD downloads.
As for FLAC digital, I assume they can’t release those until the official CD release.
As for FLAC digital, I assume they can’t release those until the official CD release.
I think it’s not as good as Thor: Dark World, Iron Man 3, and Avengers 1.
Track 18 is about 10 minutes.
From what I remember… nope… the music is butchered in the film … There???s Silvestri???s Music tracked…. Tyler and Elfman
Do the credits contain any music not on the OST?
And apparently, "There are 12 instances where the image/audio goes to black/silent. This is intended. The instances range from 1 second to 20 seconds. Please do not be alarmed or make any adjustments"
Do the credits contain any music not on the OST?
I think so. I think its tuck between or after the Silvestri Original theme before the final credit..not 100% sure though because from what i just heard listening to the OST most of them contained a temp track from Silvestri’s anyway.
Dare I say it should’ve been Zimmer? LOL
I’ve only listened to track 23 (which is an Elfman cue), but I have to agree with this. But then, I thought the same about Tyler’s score for Thor. And even Doyle’s Thor score at times. I’m not quite sure why Marvel is so keen to make their films seem like cartoons now, but it’s not a change I’m happy with.
Not gonna lie: was expecting way more than what was offered here.
A bit underwhelming, for sure… Hopefully, the recording sessions will be better.
A bit underwhelming, for sure… Hopefully, the recording sessions will be better.
Don’t count on the sessions being a combination of both Tyler’s AND Elfman’s material. It’ll probably be either one or the other. I feel like a similar thing happened with The Wolfman. The "complete" score is incomplete. Danny Elfman, Paul Haslinger and Conrad Pope worked on that one. A clusterfuck.
Marvel is always high on dollar bill fumes when it comes to how they handle film scores, but this is downright unfortunate. If Joss really wanted Silvestri back, he should’ve been more strict about it, instead of allowing the editor to basically extract the soul of the first movie’s score to infuse it to this film. Hopefully Infinity Wars won’t fall prey of such nonsense.

Dare I say it should’ve been Zimmer? LOL
Oh, god no D: Zimmer is like the old lady in a butcher shop that always clogs the line instead of waiting for her turn, and always demands to be dispatched by the same person. Let some other composer give a shot at superheroes.
Djawadi, Armstrong, Debney, Doyle, Silvestri, Tyler, Jackman, Bates and now Elfman have all had their shot. That’s quite a mix. I would’ve had Silvestri return (even though I’m not nuts about him) simply for continuity’s sake, but Marvel don’t know what the fuck that word is. I do feel like Zimmer would’ve been able to pull it off, though. And I will say this: DC knows how to keep continuity. Look at TDK Trilogy and now MoS/BvS
what do you mean "For some reason the cue "Avengers Unite" is broken?
can we still play it?
i’m waiting for mp3 but i will listen to this for now. 🙂

The 3d one is hands down my favourite but i feel if you can erase the heroes figures it would be much stronger !
<.<
But then again… can’t go a day without bashing any other composer either 😉 seriously though, if you’re going to flame (no, i don’t mean you Kadron), keep your opinion to yourself. There are far too many fanboys here. Not all of us enjoy Zimmer, not all of us enjoy Brian Tyler. Not all of us enjoy EVERYTHING by any chosen composer.
If i would like someone else’s opinion on a score, i would very much like it to be based on something more than:
Oh, i just adore Zimmer. Everything he does is magic, but i can’t tell you why/I hate Zimmer and everything he does, but i can’t specify any real reason
It’s like a review i read on a scifi film (can’t remember which one now) that was written by someone that just couldn’t stand scifi or anything not based in reality. Why do people get paid writing stuff like that? If i enjoy scifi movies, i want a review written by someone that knows and understands scifi. In general and not just "I love Star Wars, but hate Star Trek"
Enough rant and give me some INTERESTING posts if you feel you want to comment on any composer or music 😉
Anyway, many thanks for this. Much appreciated.
Thanks for sharing it.
"The Vision" was a nice track tho’.
Now THAT sounds interesting.
It’s not a bad score, of course not, But he is a little lower powerful than the first one. 🙂 And ”Vision” track is…..just perfect (just like the scene :D)
The score… well quite frankly Silvestri should have got a credit as nearly 20-30% of the score (probably more) is tracked from the first film. The first piece of music we hear in the film proper is "Got A Ride" (using the sessions name) from the first film. I hope for an expanded or complete version of the score in the future. There is a lot of beautiful and heartfelt emotional tracks in the film that are absent on the release, including an eerie all female vocal track that’s just beautiful. The new stuff… well the score is more appealing after watching the film as I can actually place each track and go "Ah that’s what they were going for". It’s a lot like "Winter Soldier". Without the film and being presented out of order in a non-complete form makes the score lose something. It works very well in the film and several tracks stood out. So the score isn’t bad. It’s actually good. I think we just need a more complete version of it to see the good stuff.

H???h??? 😉 I think it composed by Brian Tyler, this ”female choir chant ” 🙂 It has to last two minutes but it is rather beautiful and surprising. I just listened to a few hours before going to see the movie, the entire soundtrack, and when I heard this music (toward the end) it gave me shivers because it doesn’t make party of the available soundtrack,I think it’s to protect the suspense. . The music looks like a little of Da Vinci Code’s Choir, concerning this choir of course 🙂 As the first one, there is a scene where we can hear a ”classical song” (In the first one, when Loki is in Germany 🙂 ).
It’s not a bad score, of course not, But he is a little lower powerful than the first one. 🙂 And ”Vision” track is…..just perfect (just like the scene :D)
I don’t think the "female choir chant" was Tyler. It felt very Danny Elfman to me. What we need is a complete score or complete cue list that properly tells us who did what.
The score is a bit strange. Firstly there’s so much tracked music so yeah, Silverstri should get main credit. Also I don’t know if this was just in my screening but the music was turned down very soft. Bombastic cues like track 3 were almost inaudioable which felt very strange to me. Might see the movie in another theatre to see if it’s something in the final cut or just the screening I was in. Finally there seems to be no real coherence in the score. Some cues sound awesome but it does, as many pointed out, feel very butchered. I also hoped for more versions of elfmans theme!
Btw, the no strings song is not in the move as a complete song like in the trailer. When it’s in the movie it’s always just sung for like a few seconds by ultron. Nothing that could have been added to the OST.
Not sure if anyone got back to you on this, but if I remember correctly (I saw the film at a late showing, so I was a bit tired.), the "No Strings" tune as heard in the trailer in not in the film. Ultron hums the tune and says a few lines from the song, and the actually song from the Disney animated film is played for a few seconds, but the trailer versions is not used. On a side not, the score (Which I personally don’t think is anything to rave about) is lost in the film. I barely even noticed it. And the film is one of the weaker ones in the Marvel lineup. It’s worth seeing, but don’t go into it thinking it’s going to blow your mind in any way. It’s a typical superhero film. Nothing more, nothing less.
Edit: Whoops. I see haha123 just beat me to it.
Edit: Whoops. I see haha123 just beat me to it.
Lol!
So was the music played very softly in your screening as well? As I had heard the score in beforehand I noticed some cues from the OST but they were played very soft…

To be honest, I thought the whole audio track was a bit soft, especially in the opening sequence. Music and sound effects seem to take a ride in the backseat. I just assumed it was the theater I was at, but if you had issues……….
Oh and that marvel studios music was awesome right?
i reordered a few, but its not accurate yet
Between ”Sacrifice” and "The Last one” there is another song with Female Choir, really intense. Also, ”The Mission” is more longer in the movie (maybe 3’50, so it miss one minute ) 🙂
There is also a lot of track present in the first one (The Silvestri theme, many times, especially in the end credits). But as you can expected, It miss a Looooooot of cue….That’s all I can say 🙂 (sorry for my english if I made some mistakes 🙂 )
Oh and that marvel studios music was awesome right?
Yeah, it’s a good piece (Tyler wrote it, right?), but I thought this version was a bit…. subdued compared to say, the version from the first Avengers film. As far as theaters go, the one I usually go to, while a bit old, seems to have updated equipment (Digital projectors and the like.), and I don’t ever seem to recall the sound being an issue. It’s not that Avengers: Age Of Ultron sounded bad, just quiet. I assume sound levels can be adjusted in theaters; maybe the ones we saw it in simply had the level low for some reason. But then again, dialogue seemed to be a little too loud, compared to the rest of the film. I’m not sure if I could sit through the film again in a theater (Although I’m sure my kid will want to see it.), but I look forward to reading what you have to say after you see it again.
A lot of people have complained about the film jumping around and being poorly edited. Maybe this is a fix to that.
And hey… more movie = more music! Though if they’re lazy they’ll probably just track stuff over from the first one.
There’s already a torrent going around.
And Tyler’s OST cues are always suites, they’re never what’s heard in the film. So a film order is probably impossible
Oh look, extended edition for the film is comin’ (http://screencrush.com/avengers-2-dvd-blu-ray/).

I doubt that will ever happen. At least, no time soon. 6 years ago there was supposed to be a version of Terminator: Salvation with 40 minutes of deleted scenes. One of them featured Terry Crews’ character that you see dead in the beginning of the theatrical cut. Hell, the "Rogue Cut" of DoFP was originally supposed to just be an extended cut of the theatrical film, released same time as the Blu-ray. But instead it’s a whole other film and is being released some time this summer, way over a year since the film’s theatrical release.
And about the Rogue Cut:
X-Men: Days of Future Past Rogue Cut Steelbook Case Revealed | Comicbook.com (http://comicbook.com/2015/04/24/x-men-days-of-future-past-rogue-cut-steelbook-case-revealed/)
That would be nice, but I’m realistic and not optimistic. I do not see that happening.
And that steelbook cover art is horrible. I hope that’s not final… Logan looks like he’s blasting off with an imaginary jetpack.
It was a good movie… but not the one I was hoping to see. I have illogically high hopes for the Rogue Cut. I want to see the small sequence with Quicksilver’s little sister in addition to all those Rogue scenes, as well as Mystique as the X-Mansion.
Ahhh yes, it could very well be. Yeah that’s the reason the expanded score was pulled after Scorepranos posted it. Debney himself requested it be taken down cause it would damage the planned 2-disc release
But, I may be wrong. Who knows.
I wish Disney was as open to expanded/complete releases. I’d buy an expanded MCU score in a heartbeat (I think Incredible Hulk got a complete release, but that was before the Disney purchase)
And that’s why trailer 3 is my favorite
I wish Disney was as open to expanded/complete releases. I’d buy an expanded MCU score in a heartbeat (I think Incredible Hulk got a complete release, but that was before the Disney purchase)
My money would go towards Djawadi’s Iron Man. Hands-down my favorite MCU score. But like Hulk, that was before Disney obviously because it’s the first film.
But, I may be wrong. Who knows.
Not quite. The version of the first Iron Man film that’s been shown on FX is an extended cut using deleted and alternate scenes. I vaguely recall reading that Favreau was asked to put together this edit to kick off FX’s cable rights deal to the Phase One films. It’s not officially available anywhere as a disc or download, just on FX. So keep an eye on the TV listings and warm up your DVRs. 😀
Perhaps it is the film then and not the theaters. The dialogue was indeed very loud. For some reason I also had the feeling that the surround sound was turned off. That however can’t have been the filmmix lol, but has to have been something in that particular screening. It’s a relatively new cinema, but the lack of projectionists these days is really showing. I’ll be sure though when I’ve seen it a second time in a really good cinema!

I wonder what effect the whole Tyler/Elfman debacle will have on Thor: Ragnarok. Will Tyler score it? Or will someone else score it and either keep Tyler’s theme or create a new one? Will Marvel surprise us and bring Patrick Doyle back? That said though, I would not mind Elfman tackling Ragnarok.
That’s when they do the lame-ass "DVD on TV" and show deleted/extended scenes during the breaks. They do it with every film. There is no extended cut of Iron Man, just deleted scenes.
No, the scenes are added back into the actual film, not just showing brief clips separately on the DVD on TV segments. The two major differences in the FX cut are the extended ambush (with Rhodey blowing the crap out of the ambushers with a 50 cal on his humvee and Tony trying to use a machine gun and it jamming on him before his fateful encounter with The Bomb), and completely cutting out the bit from the theatrical cut where Raza’s men are waterboarding Tony (and while his head is underwater you can faintly hear Pepper’s voice calling Tony’s name) and replacing it with deleted alternate scenes where Yinsen pretends to beat up on Tony after his first refusal to build a Jericho, followed by Raza’s men barging into the cave prison and dragging Tony and Yinsen out of bed before taking them outside to show Tony their arsenal of Stark weapons. Seriously, if you don’t believe me, just watch it next time it comes on FX and then watch your Blu/DVD to compare. 🙂
I wish Disney was as open to expanded/complete releases. I’d buy an expanded MCU score in a heartbeat (I think Incredible Hulk got a complete release, but that was before the Disney purchase)
I think this had more to do with the fact that Hulk was co-produced by Universal (and why Marvel hasn’t done another solo Hulk film) than the Disney buy-out. Or it could be that Armstrong or the record company signed a different deal that made a two disc score release possible.
I didn’t read the article, but I saw something on Yahoo! the other day when I was scrolling through the rolodex. Universal owns the rights to solo Hulk films.
Are you refering to the party when he’s in costume and is drunk? Isn’t that in Iron Man 2? I don’t remember any of these deleated scenes your all talking about. I don’t even remember a deleated scenes section on the blu-ray. Guess I need to go back and revisit it. (Sigh) It sucks getting old. 😉
Anyway, many thanks for this. Much appreciated.
Never mind, the first thirty seconds of "It Begins" is the Marvel Studios fanfare. Saw the movie again today. Now, the end credits music would be nice.
They’re definitely overcompensating. Anything to make more money despite how bad things wind up being.[COLOR="Silver"]

[QUOTE=AdrFax;2941770]Marvel is always high on dollar bill fumes when it comes to how they handle film scores, but this is downright unfortunate. If Joss really wanted Silvestri back, he should’ve been more strict about it, instead of allowing the editor to basically extract the soul of the first movie’s score to infuse it to this film. Hopefully Infinity Wars won’t fall prey of such nonsense.

Oh, god no D: Zimmer is like the old lady in a butcher shop that always clogs the line instead of waiting for her turn, and always demands to be dispatched by the same person. Let some other composer give a shot at superheroes.
In regards to the first: yes I feel like they’re kind of milking it now.
In regards to the second: Any suggestions?

So I had a nosy on iTunes. And my most listened to tracks from the soundtrack are the Elfman ones. In not surprised honestly. I love Danny Elfman. I hope Infinity War just has one composer though. Either Silvestri or Elfman. I don’t think Tyler has what it takes for an Avengers film which is a shame as I love his IM3 and TTDW scores.

As for the first one: I am rooting for Silvestri just for old times sake
As for the second one: I hope Elfman does.
Nope. There’s a party in the beginning of the film (I think after the casino scene when he takes Christine home) and we see "the morning after". Women asleep on the floor all over Stark grounds. Kinda like that Hardee’s / Carl’s Jr. commercial where the model walks around giving everyone a breakfast sandwich :p

Still cant make any sense out of it yet…Hopefully it clears up when put to film. Tyler’s Furious 7 score was much more inventive…Yep…Disney really wanted him to subdue himself for this score in favor of a pure symphonical one.
Pure symphonic score. Still, better than a Zimmer-esque, overused synth score.

Dare I say it should’ve been Zimmer? LOL
The day Zimmer joins the MCU will be the day I stop listening to the scores.

The day Zimmer joins the MCU will be the day I stop listening to the scores.
And here we go again… Everything anyone does is better than Zimmer. I respect your opinion, but seriously? what’s he got to do with Elfman’s effort?
Well I hate to break it to you, but he’s been involved since the beginning. He did some work on Iron Man. And don’t forget he’s the bmoc at RCP. So that’s 2 MCU scores: Iron Man and TWS.
Yes he worked on some cool cues in IM1. The test cues for instance. I think you can check on HZ.com which tracks he worked on. I personally hope he’ll do the new spider man movie. Sue me, but I love Zimmer’s music and in Spidey’s case it really works!
As a composer I feel like people are either gonna like or dislike your music. You’re not doing your job right if everyone in the world likes your music. So it’s natural that some people dislike Zimmer
And it was I who dragged him into this topic, so that’s what he has to do with Elfman :p
And it was I who dragged him into this topic, so that’s what he has to do with Elfman :p
Of course! I dislike composers music as well! Everyone doesn’t have to like everyone’s music, would be boring otherwise if everyone thought the same. I might have mixed up Cameron with someone else like Rocklegend who always seems to be spreading the word about zimmer’s bad music lol.
Ah lol:D
It’s possible the more Williams-like cues are what got replaced by Elfman’s music, due to the studio and/or their test audiences thinking it sounded too old-fashioned, as has happened far too many times before, though never on a film of this box office magnitude. It’s also possible Tyler was on crack, but it’s unfortunate we don’t get to hear his score for the whole movie so we can learn for ourselves.
No, that’s from the party at Tony’s house in Dubai, which happens well after he returns from Afghanistan. (This entire sequence was cut from the film; it’s the one that Ghostface Killah had a cameo in.) Tony has Pepper set it up so he can use it as a cover for him to take off and go save Gulmira. 😉
ETA: And no, the Dubai scenes are not on the FX cut. Just as well, as I think the way that Pepper finds out about Tony’s new "hobby" in the theatrical/FX cut is funnier than the Dubai alternate scene anyway. :p
With everything that’s happening, the things that are about to come to light, people might just need a little old-fashioned.
Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.
I wish Disney was as open to expanded/complete releases. I’d buy an expanded MCU score in a heartbeat (I think Incredible Hulk got a complete release, but that was before the Disney purchase)
Interesting. I like Ottman’s work on DoFP, but in general, it doesn’t really compare to what he did on X2. Even on a cue as superfluous as the one that plays when Senator Kelly joins Stryker and the president in the Oval Office, there are melodic statements that make the track enjoyable. It’s hard to find something like that on DoFP. Many of the smaller moments are drowned on electronic arrangements with various degrees of success. Even though I haven’t found any track of DoFP that is hard not to like, the electronics going on are kinda hit-or-miss for me. It feels like he had a great opportunity to do something interesting on this film, but decided to make something closer to Jackman’s work on First Class (and failing, somewhat). The End Titles track shows how the whole score could’ve been if he had taken a different approach.

Yep, I don’t know them all but there’s one I wish it had been in: At the end, when Pepper fires the Ark Reactor and Obadiah falls in, the scene extends a bit more. He falls on part of the roof, and talks with Tony, sort of reminiscing how he was like a father to Tony. Even Tony tries to save him, but Obie falls and dies anyway.
Don’t know about the other scenes
Don’t know about the other scenes
Oh – I’ve seen that one on YouTube! It’s good… but I don’t think Tony tries to save him. Initially, he does reach out and grasp Stane’s hand, but then when Stane tries to pull him down with him, Tony releases the gauntlet from his own hand and Stane falls alone. I think. Can’t rightly remember. :p
You remember correctly. 😉
Also, FYI for anyone who’s interested: This afternoon/evening, FX will be airing their extended cut of Iron Man in a triple header with Iron Man 2 and The Incredible Hulk. Check your local listings for showtimes. 🙂

Is there a breakdown of this "extended cut" somewhere? Are the cut scenes on YouTube? I have the 2-Disc Collector’s Edition DVD – maybe they’re on that…
Also, what’s FX? Some US TV channel?
Yeah. All they show is movies with lots of CGI. I guess to grab more viewers they add back deleted scenes.
Nice idea. Wish there was a channel here in Monstropolis that did the same. I’d love to see an extended cut of Iron Man.
Is there any way (and anyone who’d be willing to) to somehow ‘rip’ it? I don’t really ever watch TV, so I’m not familiar with how that might be possible. Presumably it’ll be available/shown online as well as on TV?

I think FX does have local channels in other countries, but I don’t know if they’ve ever shown the extended cut outside the US. Some of the extended/deleted scenes that appear in the FX cut are on the Iron Man 1-Disc and 2-Disc Blu-ray editions (I’m assuming they’re on the DVD as well): "Convoy Ambush", "Craps Table with Tony & Rhodey", and "Rhodey and General Gabriel". The deleted scene where Yinsen pretends to beat up on Tony (which the FX cut uses in place of the waterboarding scene in the theatrical cut) hasn’t been officially released; I’ve also got the Phase One box set, and it wasn’t included there.

As far as I know, the FX cut is exclusive to FX and isn’t available any other way except watching it through them. Or if someone rips it. 😉

I’ll try to check out my 2-Disc DVD set.
Can somebody rip the extended cut? That’d be fantastic.
Also the score is mostly buried behind effects and I’m surprised that Brian Tyler didn’t better use his Thor and Iron Man themes because there were plenty of moments especially for Iron Man where his theme could have come in with some heavy chorus but all he does is those few seconds when Iron Man fights Hulk.
And yes the film suffers from having so much cut out but anything cut out with Thor would just be more hints and massive build up to a particular title of Avengers 3.

Heroes
Unused, main Elfman theme
1 Only the first 45 seconds appear on the film, the rest is replaced with a set of Silvestri excerpts (brief phrases from cues ‘A Little Help’ and ‘I Got A Ride’, respectively) and followed by an alternate Elfman cue [heard when Iron Man takes flight and hits Struker’s castle].
2 Only the first 1:42 min is heard on film, as Ultron attacks Jarvis. The rest is apparently unused.
3 The first half of the track appears to be replaced with an alternate version on the film. It’s hard to hear due to the dialogue, but it doesn’t match with the album version until Pietro talks aboout their family’s disaster. Additionally, a portion of this track is heard earlier, during Stark’s vision (the point between 1:50 to 2:27 min).
4 This cue is not used on the film, in its place we hear background music (mainly during Widow and Cap’s dream sequences).
5 This cue should be spliced into two. The first 1:37 min belongs to the raid in Helen Cho’s lab; the rest is heard when Natasha tries to lullaby Hulk in Sokovia.
6 Honestly, this track is terribly messed up on the film. The track goes normally (with a brief alternate portion as Widow cruises through the avenues) until she slides below Ultron’s truck to hand Cap his shield; during this action, a portion of ‘Avengers Unite’ is tracked in, and it stops when Ultron rips the street apart and Widow pulls over. The ‘Seoul Searching’ track continues until Cap surfs over a car to jump back onto Ultron’s truck; during this moment an excerpt from Silvestri’s ‘Assemble’ is heard until Barton approaches on the Quinjet and fires at Ultron. After this, a portion of ‘It Begins’ is heard throughout the scene (the point between 0:45 to 1:17 min), as two ultronbots pursue the Quinjet, the Twins see the action on TV, and Ultron flies Cap into the nearby train. After that, an alternate cue is heard. The ‘Seoul Searching’ track resumes when Widow is inside the truck and looks into the cradle, as the ultronbots get to the sides of the truck and lift the container.
7 A cue that sounds like the beginning of this one (the first 33 seconds) is heard when Cap finds the twins on the street, and Wanda warns him about Tony using the cradle.
8 The beginning of this track (the first minute, exactly) is heard when Barton is tracking Natasha, and Cap and the twins walk in on Tony and Bruce altering the cradle. Additionally, another portion of the track (the point between 1:41 to 2:15 min) is heard in the third act, when Wanda exits her hideout and destroys some ultronbots aided by Barton. The rest of the track appears to be unused.
9 The cue heard when Cap and Barton take Pietro’s body/Wanda kills Ultron’s main vessel appears to be a source cue. I happened to see the film again last night and since the theater was kinda empty, that cue was heard mostly on the center speakers, with a lot of noise and clipping coming them, which didn’t match the rest of the soundtrack. I also checked the score on wikipedia a few hours ago, and this track is listed at the bottom with other source cues (not sure if there’s any truth to that though).
10 After a nice nod to Silvestri’s Captain America theme is heard (during the first 17 seconds), the track is replaced with an excerpt of Silvestri’s ‘A Promise’, which lasts until the end credits start.
I’ve tried to be as accurate and explicit as possible, and I’m sure about most of what I’ve gathered here. I could’ve been more certain if I had a clean copy of the film to work with, but until September I doubt that’s possible; so for me, this’ll do.
I hope any of this info is helpful for @darth2602 and anybody else who was curious 😀
The music you’re thinking of is not actually by Tyler or Elfman. It existing long before the film even came out. It is called "Berliner Messer: Kyrie" by Arvo Part.

has anyone noticed that the track Sacrifice is longer in the movie, and way more awesome, then the soundtrack version?

Aside from the Silvestri themes I mentioned before, there’s a Silvestri cue when the Quinjet lands on the new Stark Tower for the first time; but this cue is from the Avengers sessions (a track called ‘Arriving on the Helicarrier’, I believe). I’ve also read that the end credits have Silvestri themes but I never stayed past the Thanos scene, so I’m not sure 🙁
I’m also thinking that Tyler’s ‘Drum Duel’ belongs to the party scene with Thor’s hammer.
