It says it has an "Isolated Score Track" "THE BOUNTY required extensive music and audio restoration"
THE BOUNTY (1984) — SCREEN ARCHIVES ENTERTAINMENT (http://www1.screenarchives.com/title_detail.cfm/ID/28645/THE-BOUNTY-1984/)
I really hope it is finally a good sounding version of Vangelis’ Masterpiece
I have no clue why this has never had at least a good album release
Thanks for the heads up.
Cheers.
It’s an atmospheric score in a long time, with the rhythmics and quiet Main and End Titles.
I must listen to it again with headphones.
20 minutes more and we’ll have much more that a decent soundtrack, rounding the 45 minutes length.
the 24min video I put on youtube is only a quality sample (of the full film version)
the full film version taken from the blu-ray (Twilight Time) is 1hr 5min (period songs not included)
the old bootleg version is 1hr 32min (period songs not included)
That would be more than a decent disc.
If some tracks
I just ran a test on my "Line-In" recordings it says "Left and Right channels are correlated by 97%"
so yes it is mono
that would be great 🙂

what do you think sounds better, the first 30sec or the last 30sec?
But the first part is in mono, the 2nd part is in stereo.
Question is now, did you convert the mono stream into stereo or have you used a stereo source for this part?
what I did is
1.turned original mono into 2 channels
2.offset left channel by 30ms
3.right channel Bass -2 & Treble +2
4.left channel Bass +2 & Treble -2

I don’t think it’s a good idea to alter the audio in that way. Keep it like it is.
What do you mean with "Line-In Recording" – have you recorded the isolated stream?
Why haven’t you demuxed the isolated score stream with eac3to ?
It’s strange that the soundtrack in the bluray is in mono.

This is a brief note from a Vangelis web:

Another lost opportunity of having this score as one would expect.
Always misleading consumers by offering mediocre quality.

Yes, please.
I will be working on it when I can (it is quite slow going)
I will create a new thread when done (and link it here)
cool, good news.

Go ahead 🙂
RCA jacks?
Unfortunate that’s the only method available to you.
Even more unfortunate the pirate world doesn’t really have this bluray available.
I see only encodes out there with just the main audio track.
I take you are not familiar with Linux to hack your PS3.
It will be a pity after all the time you will be investing to learn that it could have been done better.
Having said that do wait for a PM once I get my copy.
I trust you got the message if you wish. 🙂
I am saving the project files, so if/when I get my hands on a better copy, it should be easy to just drop them into the project as most of the work is already done

I am
However I have one of the "Slim" PS3s, my understanding is that won’t work on a "Slim" or newer versions, but I could be wrong I have not really looked into it
I will be receiving my copy in the next weeks hopefully. 🙂
What software do you use?
The stereo image misses a bit the center depth like that… but it does not sound too bad for a mono feed turned into stereo. 🙂
Anyone skilled, not by your own definition, but who knows their software, I know who you are, please PM when something bit-exact has happened.
You are wasting your time. I have sent THREE, and got no response.

Somehow I cannot seem to be able to PM you, but as far as software you might use I can answer that question.
Adobe Audition is quite to preferred choice when it comes to editing bits of audio streams off a DVD or Blu-ray.
Some might also use Audacity though the audio engine and included plug ins might not compete in terms of quality with Audition… or Cool Edit Pro which was its earlier form before Adobe bought it.
Audacity is freeware though.
I personally like to use Steinberg Cubase… iZotope Ozone and RX4… a bit too expensive e-licences… but there might be some unlimited demo versions out there for you to try and test before resolving to support the developers.
Hope it might help a bit. Anything else… drop a PM! 🙂
