My questions are, how the hell are people in the know about these things? Behind the scenes of what exactly?

I’m a far bigger fan of the film than the score on its own, but the score does indeed work, and work very well.

It just seemed to be the same two elements for the most part – solo piano, and massive drum ensemble. It does work in context, but it’s never been something I’ve really been able to enjoy much on its own. This is now an opportunity for me (personally speaking) to marry the two like I’ve done with other scores. I get a much better appreciation for them that way.

The absolute best negative comment I’ve seen about a Zimmer score was for Inception. Apparently it caused someone’s "ears to bleed". OK. Quit being a drama queen. You don’t like it, get the f over it

I’ve checked ASCAP and BMI and Geoff Zanelli is also credited. But no cue names are given.

You have to listen to it in its entirety (like I do when I listen to it, as well as Inception or INTS) to get the full experience. It’s worth it

Same. That’s why I don’t hear Zimmer’s music on CD until I watch the films. He’s one of the worst on arranging his music into commercial releases. Same with mixes (him and JNH seems to ruin their well written material with over the top synth and drum samples and drowned orchestra and choir).

Yes much the same way I can never go back to the albums John Williams makes once the sessions were out. Everything flows much better as a musical narrative.

I would say Clark’s theme is probably my favorite. I made myself a massive suite that runs 30:17 (I wanted to outdo Zimmer’s), but this was back in May, long before I had the complete score. So I only had the OST material to work with. And it was mostly Clark’s theme that I used. You should whip up a Clark suite utilizing the complete score

Oh for sure that’s the reason! LoL I listened to the film mix about 5 times in the last hours or so…and I think I do like the 2nd half of the cue (when Supes flies all over) leaps and bounds (no pun intended) better than the OST now.

but why i had the same message error but i could extract all the tracks without any problem, and all the files are perfect. I downloaded from Sendspace yesterday. i think that everybody downloaded the files without any problem even with that "message error"

They are parts of the score that are recorded individually which are then inserted into other cues. If you have the Inception complete score, you’ll notice that there’s 5m27 Mr. Charles and 5m27 Mr. Charles (Insert). Mr. Charles runs 12 min in length and the insert is nearly a fraction of that. In the film, the insert is added somewhere into Mr. Charles

Yes, whenever I make one of my "Custom Complete Scores" using sessions, I will always restore the inserts into the cues they were made for. An insert can be an alternate take on something the original cue had, therefore making the insert a replacement for that one segment, or it can be a changed ending, middle, opening, anything really.

Yup, that sounds more like it. I have a friend who tends to make film mixes of complete scores and he’ll update me on the process. Sometimes an insert will be placed at the beginning of the original cue it was meant for (replacing the beginning of said cue), sometimes only a portion of the insert is used and sometimes the insert is placed on to the end. It’s interesting.

Well the track ‘The Final Confrontation’ is definitely now with inserted music that wasnt there in the albumversion (You Die or I do)

Easy. Zimmer writes all the music in suites, and then him or his RC cronies writes cues based on these suites. It’s glorified tracking and he did it in the Batman films (Even JNH, whose Harvey Dent suite was used for the music he wrote through TDK), not scoring to picture. Zimmer did the same in Interstellar, but at least all the tracking was made by himself.

I’ve always thought that the vocals on the film version of ‘The Rest of My Life’ were added to mirror the score at the end of the first film, when Capt Stacy dies; or at least the atmosphere of the scene looks the same on both movies. Ironically, I don’t recall such vocals being on any release of TASM, either.

Easy. Zimmer writes all the music in suites, and then him or his RC cronies writes cues based on these suites. It’s glorified tracking and he did it in the Batman films (Even JNH, whose Harvey Dent suite was used for the music he wrote through TDK), not scoring to picture. Zimmer did the same in Interstellar, but at least all the tracking was made by himself.

I figured that, but the track didn’t give the impression of being a suite because the concept is relatively simple. Besides, the track is quite short, unlike his humongous 10 to 30 min suites that always strain my attention at the first listen.

Taken just now from the interior gatefold of my vinyl. That’s him down in front (on the crease), along with Jason Bonham (John Bonham’s son) and Satnam Ramgotra, another featured RCP musician. Junkie XL is front and center conducting them.

Probably the real reason Zimmer uses DTS Headphone:X for the mobile devices.
It would be easy to convert that recording to stereo with DTS encoder and then decode it again to get (close-to) the 11.1 matrixing.

I was not happy that the "Deluxe Edition" was so blatantly incomplete and left out all the Lois-related cues.

Privacy concerns and policies. (also very much in regards to local state/province/country/etc laws)

However, none of DaK’s links are coded.
They’re active links, meaning you can just click it and it’ll open the link in a new tab or cycle the existing tab.

Active links tell the target site where you came from.
"Referrer".
To get to Mega, you need to click on Shrine.
With any human moderator at MEGA, or probably even scripted bot, the key words involved would be the score involved and this site.
Looking at their own database, they can see a significant portion of links hit with DMCA Takedowns coming from Shrine.
From there, it’s a no-brainer that piracy is involved.

That’s just partly the issue.

Using "MoS" or similar patterns in each re-up, just makes it easier to figure out it’s the same content as the previous Takedown.

Even if you were just to rename the archive files to something obscure with password protection (and "encrypted" option enabled so files are hidden when the archive is opened without a password or incorrect password), they can still do a hash checksum against the new file and the previous Takedown files.
Disregarding the dates.
Adding a picture, coverart would change the checksum values.

That’s just to bypass the robot.

A human operator at MEGA can investigate manually, tracing back to Shrine, your post and see that it is indeed copyright infringement and issue another Takedown.

Probably how some of my end credits get taken down.
All of my John Wick end credits got hit.
And The Expendables 3.
And those were all coded links so no real traceback.

What other protocols they have, is unbeknownst to us.
Due to their policies.

Could be outside influence. An agent looking for random things to slam DMCA’s against.

I’m not active on this forum, but I kept reading that the Man of Steel complete score would never be released. It was a hard blow, especially after being so hopeful once I’d downloaded the complete score for Inception.

So I pretty much lost my shit when I logged in and saw this gem was available. Grabbed it quick as fuck, put it on my iPod, turned off the lights in my room and listened to it in bed.

An awesome experience. I’m smiling now just remembering some of the reactions I had listening to the score. Just… wow. (This’ll do wonders for my writing, too!)

As far as I’ve heard, The Amazing Spiderman 2 will not leak but as time has proven that theory wrong on many accounts, I wouldn’t give up hope just yet because if you recall what the S on Superman’s cape means it means "hope". Others "insisted" on stereo only because most people only are listening through stereo speakers. Very few have a 7.1 setup. And most 7.1 mixes are upmixed anyway, according to Sparktank. Having a 7.1 mix of something on your computer, unless it’s actually hooked up to a 7.1 sound system and not upmixed, is kinda a waste of hard drive space.

Every time I hear this watershed score, I can only imagine what wonders Junkie could’ve done incorporating Hans’ material in Justice League. Elfman’s score doesn’t exist as far as I’m concerned.

And personally I don’t mind the Danny Elfman version as a stand-alone thing. It’s entirely inappropriate for the film though.

I think he only used that "kooky, random and off-the-wall" music in his early days as a gimmick to get recognition. Nowadays, unless its a Tim Burton movie, his scores are very generic.

My issue with a lot of the JL score hate is that as a few here have already mentioned: it isn’t anything particularly special. I like it okay for what it is, but I do acknowledge that it’s nowhere near what Elfman used to be. And yet, it’s apparently the worst thing ever? Get outta here with that talk. It’s too standard to be anything abhorrent, and all it makes me think is that we’re still bitter about Junkie XL being fired. Who, by the way, seems to only really have Mad Max under his belt of stuff people liked, so I’m not sure if he really would’ve done a better job as well.

My issue with JL is really just in the fact that the Williams Superman theme is used at all. It’s not because it’s out of place for the character, considering you actually could’ve sold me on it, should the time have been taken to establish it. It’s just the fact that, well, how many films was it in? Five flicks. And how many times is the big theme at the end of MoS used? Once. We seriously have missed the opportunity to make remind people that this is his new theme, which I think perfectly embodies the character in its own way. Don’t care at all if you used the Elfman Batman theme, but the Williams Superman theme had its time in the spotlight. Hopefully, whenever they decide to do MoS 2, they at least play it once in the flick.

And Spark: I wouldn’t have expected the guy who has chewed Quantum out for no real reason to know what his thought process is.

Ah, but please note I do not really like JL’s score. I don’t hate it either. It’s just not something I will archive or even listen to a second time.

Though in my own personal opinion: I think "What Are You Going to Do When You Are Not Saving the World?" does a good job of exemplifying Superman’s character, even more so than the film it’s for. It has its own set of optimism that sets it apart from the iconic Williams theme. Considering that Zimmer didn’t think there wasn’t a good place to put it in BvS, and with Elfman not using it either, it’s a shame that it only got relegated to the end of MoS. And for that, I hope whoever gets hired next has a better chance on utilizing it more for MoS 2.

It is…interesting to me that Zimmer’s Wonder Woman Theme gets reused in her own film and is referenced by Elfman in JL, but the Batman and Superman material is ignored.

As for why the MoS theme wasn’t used in JL, I’m thinking Elfman ran into the same problem Zimmer did for BvS: no good place to put it. It’s such a dense score in its construction that Elfman decided it would be easier to stick to the iconic themes for JL, since it was intended to be DC’s Avengers and all that. Though really: the bit where Supes punches Steppenwolf probably could’ve used WAYGtDWYANStW? fine.

Though I couldn’t explain why he went for a new piano theme for Clark instead of the MoS one. ???\_(ツ)_/???

I should say that there is a tracked piece of MoS music ("Krypton"), for the scene when the team break into the Kryptonian ship.

Oh, I know you meant no malice when you said that. Considering that no one could believe the frontman to Oingo Boingo could compose film music at the time, Elfman decided to be as stylish as possible to show he truly had skill. With your comment, I was just reminded of the more egregious RCP fanboys, who believe that Zimmer is a divine being, and that every other composer is immensely inferior. Obviously, I do not think this to be the case with most RCP fans, but there’s a key few that drive me nuts. Especially when it came to JL, and recently with M:I- Fallout. Makes it a bit difficult to be enthusiastic about Zimmer and co., really.

Well, is it though? This is the silliest Batman costume we’ve had in ages. He fantasized about being lifted by bats when he fell down the well. His acceptance of Superman came down to the fact both their mothers had the same name. He’s certainly more overtly vulnerable and limited compared to Bale’s Batman. Plus, considering the fact that Burton’s Batman was also supposed to be the dark and edgier take, but is seen as silly now, I don’t know if I could truly consider it unfitting for this current incarnation of Batman. After all, we can associate it with B:TAS fine, so why is it not a problem there?

Again, you could’ve sold me on using these themes for this particular film, but the final execution leaves a bit to be desired.

I???m sure it was Whedon???s idea to do it, especially since he was the one who brought Elfman on board in the first place. The whole film had the ???I Don???t Give A Fuck??? attitude that made it seem like Whedon was intentionally throwing out what came before. Having Elfman give all the interviews beforehand seemed more of a PR move than anything else, and according to Hybrid over on the HZ site, both Danny and Hans are actually on good terms with each other.

But. I look at this way: JXL was canned from JL. However, J???hannsson was canned from BR2049 and replaced by HZ & Wallfisch. HZ scoring that film was my prayers being answered, and it’s my favorite film score of 2017. So as sad as I am about JXL not getting to continue and wondering what could have been, we got an RCP BR score. Fair trade off. And HZ payed homage to the original by including Vangelis right at the end 😉

Is the 2-note Superman motif (which opens the Krypton cue and starts climbing the scale) basically the main Superman theme from “What Are You…..” but just stripped down?

If I were a composer I’d want to be on good terms with all of my peers as well. However I’m not exactly sure how I’d feel if the characters I began with had completely different themes and my peer threw out what I wrote. But that’s business, and it’s most likely what Whedon wanted.

This is true, however director Marc Webb originally wanted HZ from the beginning, but he was busy doing TDKR. So Webb went with Horner instead. And I don???t understand why people always say Jackman abandoned his Cap theme in Civil War. It???s heard in quite a few cues, most notably 4m36-37 Bucky Escapes right at the end when Cap grips onto the helipad and the helicopter. Very epic arrangement.

Initially I thought it was the “B” Captain Theme (tail end of credits/Smithsonian scene) which actually is used in Peggy’s funeral scene. It definitely seems to be longer though. Hahaha someone needs to ask Henry….

That is true, they have been getting much better, so I definitely stand corrected there.

But thematic continuity is a pretty important part of world building. Take Star Wars or POTC, you have themes that grow and develop throughout the series, and when they return down the road there already is a connection to those themes/ideas. Now if the music is great as well that???s a plus 😀

With the MCU, considering how insanely perfect of a comic book adaptation the whole thing is, I almost like viewing the composers as the illustrators in a way. Where they each bring their own flavor, and some do return to work from time to time again. Of course, some are of better quality than others, but that’s what you expect when hiring different people of sorts.

I know this isn’t a literal comic book, but I just like thinking of it like that.

Oh definitely not, I never said that. But it definitely improves the experience. Imagine if each Avengers film had a different theme. By the time Infinity War rolls around you wouldn’t have the emotional connection to the Avengers theme when it is used.

But I’m really not a big stickler when it comes to certain properties. Thor or Iron Man having 3 themes personally never bothered me.

They are the two things I am missing in FLAC for my DCEU collection. I already have Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman, and Josstice League, and I know that Aquaman and Shazam haven’t leaked yet.
