This is the cancelled Warcraft game from 1998. Blizzard had felt that the game, which would be coming out around the same time as the newest Grim Fandango game from LucasArts, would appear dated next to Fandango’s new 3D graphics.
A novelization of the story is considered Canon. Blizzard’s next game turned out to be Warcraft III.
