There are soundtracks and scores hailed as classics – John Williams’ Star Wars series, Jaws, Nino Rota’s The Godfather or Jerry Goldsmith’s Planet of the Apes, to name a few. Their status as such often makes us say we like them even if we don’t. Well, not here. I just thought it would be interesting to know what classics you don’t really like that much, without judging, condemning or trying to convince anyone that he’s wrong, stupid or deaf. Just, you know, good old brainstorming, exchanging thoughts.

For me it would be the Star Wars series I mentioned. I mean, I like it generally, even more – there are tracks in each of the scores that I really love, but at times I find it to be a tiny bit cacophonic, especially when it comes to fanfares/trumpets/whatever that sound is. What about you, fellow Shriners?

actually i cannot connect to most of what is called "golden age" classics.
Seems I am more of a "modern" composer type (i am aware there are "repetitions" 😀 )

so, goldsmith (exception: medicine man), rota, rosza, and others are just not on my favorite list.

John Williams’ Star Wars series, Jaws, Nino Rota’s The Godfather or Jerry Goldsmith’s Planet of the Apes I hate. I have a total distaste for anything ‘classical’, know what I mean. I hate violins

I have a hard time with most of Elfman’s score, except the ones he made for what I call Tim Burton’s "gothic" period (Batman, Batman Returns, Edward Scissorhands, and Sleepy Hollow). The rest…meh.

I usually don’t like soundtracks that takes multiple albums, probably because of my short attention span.
Lot of soundtrack have few interesting tracks, then I’d rather skip the remaining.
I tend to prefer stuff with some electronics, rather than pure classical.
I don’t hate any particular composer (why ?, there’s just too much choice, stuff to listen) , I try to notice stuff that are interesting.
