Wing Commander Music Orchestral Recording Project

Somewhat disappointing project of beloved Wing Commander music performed by an orchestra in Europe. For the most part, performances are good, but not great. Instead of combining gameplay music together into suites that have complete endings, the tracks just fade out feeling cut off and missing closure. Standout tracks are cinematic music.

OK. So, of course the final sequencing of the music on the CD won’t be done until I complete the sample based re-orchestrations, but if it were up to me to create a set list from what we have so far it would be…

This order DEFINITELY does NOT imply an order of favorites, just what I think would be a good sequencing of the music.

The orchestrations definitely seem to stay true to their original versions. The fade out thing is rather puzzling… perhaps these are just samples to tide people over for now?

Some bonus tracks were released yesterday. These are digital re-orchestrations that were promised.

Greetings my VERY patient friends!

I hope you all enjoy the sample based bonus tracks that I’d promised you all. They obviously don’t have the amazing breadth and, as conductor Allan Wilson so poignantly said in his interview, "soul and spirit" of music recorded with a real orchestra, I think they they are light years ahead of the original versions of 20 years ago!

Next step is to finish off the physical CD, which I promise to have shipped out to the appropriate tier levels by the holidays, along with the other bonus prizes that were bid upon.

Again, thank you to all of you for your amazing support! Shall we think about volume 2 for next year? 🙂

This is part of the Kickstarter rewards – the bonus tracks complete the digital soundtrack. It was released a couple of days ago so it was released in 2015.

The OP was the first part of the rewards which were the live sessions.

The only kickstarter rewards left are the actual pressed CDs.

This is simply awesome. I didn’t even know of its existence until yesterday. I now wish I had backed this project but I WILL buy the CD (or digital album) when that comes out.

I love this music ever since playing the games way back in the 90s.

Interested to hear this… huge fan of the game series…thanks!
