Thanks a lot for sharing this.
I thought his scores for the Monument’s Men, Godzilla and the Imitation Game are all amazing.

The Monuments Men, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Godzilla, The Imitation Game, and Unbroken. This man is pretty busy.
Desplat should at least be nominated for two films at the Academy Awards (although I don’t really care about the Oscars). Seems that only Christophe Beck composed more films in 2014, am I right?
Anyway, what I heard so far was brilliant.

I prefer not. The Academy doesn’t award a composer with two scores nominated due to the splitting of the votes.
For me (let me stress it out – FOR ME), his Godzilla is far from amazing. Can’t remember Monumets’ Men though. And Imitation Games is very good – the one from Despalt since HP8 that I really enjoyed.

John Williams won for Star Wars when Close Encounters of the Third Kind was nominated 😉
Yet, he lost for both Memoirs of a Geisha and Munich when he was a favorite. Same for James Horner for Braveheart and Apollo 13 in 1996.
Seem to be a heroic score(pieces) for a true heroic story!
Marvellous!
