"One dance" is already edited, it is in the last album "The Little Mermaid: Greatest Hits" which came with the Diamond Edition.

"One Dance" is not a deleted song from The Little Mermaid, it wasn’t even written by Menken & Ashman. It was written for some The Little Mermaid themed album by Chris Martin.

Yes, Silence Is Golden is in The Music Behind the Magic, I downloaded that box-set in FLAC from this forum and most of the demos included are different than the ones in the Disc 2 of the Legacy Collection box-set:

Wow there’s a lot of stuff there that’s not on the Music Behind the Magic boxset, be great to have the songs separate from the demos and the work tapes (which is the one problem I have with the Music Behind the Magic set), might just have to pick this up at some point. And davidlai unfortunately Music Behind the Magic is very much out of print (if I remember correctly it was released 20 years ago this year), although some do pop up on ebay and Amazon marketplace from time to time and agreed Poor Unfortunate Souls is much better than Silence is Golden lyrically, although it’s always great to hear Alan Menkins and Howard Ashmans creative process.

From 2.30, there are two tracks crossing each other, the one without the choir and the one with the choir – really messy. You’d think they would put some more work in this expensive Legacy cds instead of just throwing some old music together without giving it a good mix – or even listen what they release.

Well, TLMerman, the laughter at the end of the track was a pretty interesting story. As we all know, this reprise was sung by Jodi Benson, and that’s the same in the film. The laughter at the end had two parts, first is Jodi Benson and then crossfades into Pat Carroll. On this CD, it presents Jodi’s original work, which to me is less scary, but I think it does the trick, since it was Ursula who stole Ariel’s voice, so she must "play" with it. That’s just my own opinion.
Another thing that really upsets me about this release is the "poor unfortunate" mixing/editing at the end of CD1 (track 32, Happy Ending). Also, some tracks didn’t fade well. The one I noticed is, the end of "part of your world (reprise)" didn’t fade but ends abruptly, and then Ursula Plots begins. Also, I personally think they could have separated the two, since the original album concluding chord for the reprise of the song is here.
Also, lead-in dialogue is present on Under The Sea and Part of Your World. The manner in which the lead-in dialogue cuts in in Part of Your World is pretty bothering to me. I don’t mind Poor Unfortunate Souls, since this song is story-driven, though I would prefer it if the orchestra was left alone, so the evil motifs can be heard clearly. But lead-in dialogue situations mentioned above are not for my taste. I had hoped that this release would restore this, but no luck!
Guess I shouldn’t keep my hopes up afterall. 🙁

Well I ripped it at the slowest setting I could to try and keep that from happening. It could be like that on the CD but I doubt it. I’ll take a listen to the track on cd and see if it is there. If not I’ll re-rip it.

I just noticed that on the track "Poor Unfortunate Souls (Reprise)" it states that the contributing artist is Pat Carroll, and there’s no sign of her. 😀 Also it does kind of deminish the excitement when you don’t hear her laugh at the end.

Thank you so much for the upload, hack3rman. I took a listen and placed my order for the CD straight after. This is an extended release that’s done right in every way I could ask for. Finally, no silly brick-walled loud master, no akward remixes, no mixes that sound completely different from what was used in the movie (at least none that stood out to me). Everything that I wanted is present, in perfect order, with crystal clear sound quality. Absolutely fantastic. I pray for Disney to give the same treatment to the announced Pocahontas set next year and hopefully all other works of Alan Menken from the 90’s, both in terms of content and care. Thanks again, hack3rman!

What bothered me the most about the edits was the lead-in in POYW, not because of the talk, It’s because it’s not the same as the movie, it’s the soundtrack version, which contains diferent dialogue.
The transition (intro and then the lead-in/song) didn’t work. It sound poor. (same with Poor Unfortunate Sould)
I didn’t like Jodi’s vocalizing in Poor Unfortunate Souls, the volume is too low D: it’s almost a copy from the soundtrack (again)
Also misses her getting-her-voice-back vocalizing D:

I loved the extra laugh in Vanessa’s Song (although Pat should be there) and Jodi’s voice in "Ariel Left Behind" (Vanessa at the beach), it sound so clear and wonderful <3
We also finally got both Eric’s flutes.

Well I ripped it at the slowest setting I could to try and keep that from happening. It could be like that on the CD but I doubt it. I’ll take a listen to the track on cd and see if it is there. If not I’ll re-rip it.

What bothered me the most about the edits was the lead-in in POYW, not because of the talk, It’s because it’s not the same as the movie, it’s the soundtrack version, which contains diferent dialogue.
The transition (intro and then the lead-in/song) didn’t work. It sound poor. (same with Poor Unfortunate Sould)
I didn’t like Jodi’s vocalizing in Poor Unfortunate Souls, the volume is too low D: it’s almost a copy from the soundtrack (again)
Also misses her getting-her-voice-back vocalizing D:

I loved the extra laugh in Vanessa’s Song (although Pat should be there) and Jodi’s voice in "Ariel Left Behind" (Vanessa at the beach), it sound so clear and wonderful <3
We also finally got both Eric’s flutes.

I noticed that too. We are getting more time and enhenced details in some tracks but we are loosing some seconds in others, appart from vocals and backing vocals missing, poor edited cuts… It’s a bit unprofessional to be a Legacy Collections album that has been remastered this year…

Well, TLMerman, the laughter at the end of the track was a pretty interesting story. As we all know, this reprise was sung by Jodi Benson, and that’s the same in the film. The laughter at the end had two parts, first is Jodi Benson and then crossfades into Pat Carroll. On this CD, it presents Jodi’s original work, which to me is less scary, but I think it does the trick, since it was Ursula who stole Ariel’s voice, so she must "play" with it. That’s just my own opinion.
Another thing that really upsets me about this release is the "poor unfortunate" mixing/editing at the end of CD1 (track 32, Happy Ending). Also, some tracks didn’t fade well. The one I noticed is, the end of "part of your world (reprise)" didn’t fade but ends abruptly, and then Ursula Plots begins. Also, I personally think they could have separated the two, since the original album concluding chord for the reprise of the song is here.
Also, lead-in dialogue is present on Under The Sea and Part of Your World. The manner in which the lead-in dialogue cuts in in Part of Your World is pretty bothering to me. I don’t mind Poor Unfortunate Souls, since this song is story-driven, though I would prefer it if the orchestra was left alone, so the evil motifs can be heard clearly. But lead-in dialogue situations mentioned above are not for my taste. I had hoped that this release would restore this, but no luck!
Guess I shouldn’t keep my hopes up afterall. 🙁

Agree. I should get the film and listen to it. I heard it at a friend’s house before. I mean, I’m curious about the difference in Jodi’s performances. What a pitty for this album! 🙁 I’ve kept my hopes up for so long and this is what we have. 🙁 What shall we do about Pocahontas?

The only different is 2 sentences. It picks up at the third on the sound track. Which is where they had her start when they did the recording for the song. Does it make a big different if we hear "If only I can make him understand? I just don’t see things the way he does!" But I do think if they did have her voice over as is in the film. Some would also be complaining that why they didn’t omit it? Cause they would just want to hear that small segment without the dialog.

But I do wish they did have in Ariel’s scales when she received her voice back.

But over all, I am very happy with this release! I love how clear it sounds.

Don’t worry, with the preview on iTunes I’ve heard the same glitches, the cds are ok, it’s a problem from the High "Disney records".

A wonderful restoration! Howard Ashman never should have had the word "was" follow his name. He was one of the best lyricists and character/story planners in theater and film — and not just of his generation. When (and sadly if) you can, try to see or even read all Ashman and Menken did in their adaptation of Vonnegut’s "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater". Ashman’s why Disney’s approach to cartoons (characters, storytelling, songs) was not just reinvented but resurrected in the late 80’s. To have all of this is more than a pleasure. (PS. If any of us have either the CDs or DVDs of "Beauty and the Beast" and "Aladdin"… along with the excellent casts a particularly great singer’s was there, too. Who? Nancy LaMott!

Yes, it’s true. Also happens at the end of Under The Sea, when it starts with the extended final part. I’m a bit disappointed too with the missing backing vocals in "Fireworks" and Vanessa laughters in Poor U… Reprise are different from the ones in the film

Hi TLMerman, today I returned to the original 1989 album release of the Little Mermaid. The version I have is the Special Edition with remastered audio. The backing vocals are there.
It’s my belief that they used orchestral-only tracks for the score and original album mix for the songs, and they treated "fireworks" as score only
