Yay, Christmas came early! I present to you the complete score for this years’ blockbuster ‘Maleficent’. Before you ask: this Edition was derived using the recording sessions, naturally, Im not at liberty to tell you who it was that gave them to me. However, I can say that they were given to me with the specific instruction to make a Deluxe Edition out of them, sharing them once Id be finished in order to use it as some of "advert" for the resurrected Soundtrackjungle. I got them a month ago and I did not listen to them until the day before yesterday, I just was too occupied with renovating our appartement. While I still have to do ‘Last Samurai’, I felt the need to master ‘Maleficent’ first. Reason: I like it. Very, very much. IMO, this is one of the most intelligent scores in recent years (perhaps a tad too intelligent for some people). JNH had the horrible task of creating "flow" for a disjointed movie… not something easy but he still excelled beyond expectations. I think, this score needs to be – at least – nominated for an Oscar. Or a Grammy. In my not-so-humble opinion, Disney should just take my edition and turn it into a FYC, the score is just too darn good to be ignored. And with my edition, I expect a sure win – it presents the score in the best and most fluid way 😉
The sound
So, my old release (Thread 176470) just got superseded by this version here. What are the differences? My old release went into the right direction but I wasnt bold enough when it came to equalization and dynamics. This time, I rectified what I felt were errors or oversights on my older, incomplete set. This new set has more deep bass, is a bit more in-your-face yet less abrasive and generally has much more colour compared to the official release. It now sounds like a typical Abbey-Road-recording (where this score was recorded). I tried to keep as many OST-tracks as possible. You see, the sessions were in 320 kbps mp3 (seemed to me that they were a 1st-generation encoding) so I ended up mixing OST-tracks with sessions tracks. Using your ears, you wont notice the difference anyway.
Chronological suites
Completists will have a field day! This set is complete. BUT: I erased some pieces, accumulating to roughly 2 minutes of music. Two were inserts, supposed to be included in "Battle of the Moors"… though apparently they werent used in the movie. The third was an alternate for "Path of Destruction" that – to my ears – sounded identical and wasnt so alternate at all. Anyway, in order to create a chronological listening experience, I re-watched the BluRay (its ironic; I bought it just one and a half month ago), ending up copying the musical narrative as it appeared in the movie. I repeated most crossfades and also added my own, all in order to improve musical flow. I rarely do this, but in this case I made an exception. Since Im the first one to throw it "out into the world" I felt it prudent to include even material I usually regard as redundant. Thats why many pieces on this set are called "Film Version"; those are the music as used in the movie. The "Original Version" (a.k.a. "Intended Version") can be found at the end of the second disc (basically, they are the OST-tracks without inserts or edits). Theres one exception: the track "Stefan’s Deception". In the movie it ends with tracked bits and pieces from "Are You Maleficent?"… and that was something I just couldnt do. It sounded stupid on its own, even though it kind of works in the movie for such an important scene. So I used the version JNH intended. There are also 4 pieces called "Unused" – it doesnt mean, that they were cut from certain scenes, no the scenes themselves were cut. You can find those among the deleted scenes on the BluRay, here on this set you can hear them without the movie. Another thing: since the score now has a proper beginning, I moved the Suite to the end. It fits well, I think.
Cover
The cover is nothing special. I just used my old cover designs, erased the ones I didnt like anymore and updated the rest while creating a new one. I took some inspirations from other people who did some lovely covers. Apart from that… nothing new.
Blablabla… you know… have fun! 🙂
Now A WARNING:
1. Once the links expire, I wont upload it again, someone else has to do that (maybe by creating mirrors?)
2. Mp3’s: This time, I wont provide them. Dont be lazy, create them yourself, its incredibly easy.
3. I cannot give the sessions to you, so dont bother asking.
4. It was given to me by a member of the Soundtrackjungle. Further information is included within the archive.

I assume you changed the names so don’t they match with the ones from the sessions? There’s some from the cuelist in the BMI Repertoire. It will be interesting to hear the differences between the OST and this one (I hope we get the louder choral version of the Maleficent Suite from the end credits of the film).
Yup, I changed some names. Though most were left untouched. Louder choral version? Erm… I think not. Besides, I listened to the whole movie and to me the suite playing during the Credits was – to my ears – the same as it was on the OST/sessions. If at all, it might have been just a different mix.
the (long) password doesn’t wok. Did I do it wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Yes.

Hello.
the (long) password doesn’t wok. Did I do it wrong?
Thanks in advance!
Just copy and paste.
EDIT: downloaded and tried it myself. Works without problems.
Yes, the middle choral part with the adult/boys voices has a louder mix in the end credits. Though it might be because of the 5.1 mix.

Now, I can say: BIG THANK YOU, sonicAdventure!
Thanks as always.
especially for doing Last Samurai, my holy grail 🙂
Thanks for sharing!
I also thank You for the efforts and congratulate for the great work!
Well done!
Thank you Sonic, you’re da real MVP here! 😉 I can’t really thank you enough and it’s the second time this year 😀
I hadn’t heard of Soundtrackjungle before this and a visit to their web site was uninformative. Is it like this place but with private torrent trackers or something?
I’ve never heard of it either. Does the site’s "resurrection" mean that they will be opening up their registration soon?
Gamefront is not working right. keep getting 504 Gateway Time-out. Even with JDownloader.
Every other host is literally ass slow.
No it doesn’t.
You’re just clicking all the wrong things.
If you have Adblock installed (and unticked "allow non-intrusive ads"), and actually paid attention to what you are clicking, you’d know that you can download all these without installing anything.
Every mirrrored link does not require you to install anything.
There’s often a check box to untick.
The checkbox that says "I agree and understand" is only meant for the hosting site’s own downloader.
That’s not manditory. It’s optional, but always checked when you first load the page because the hosting site wants that attention (since it’s free).
Go back and carefully re-read everything.
Pre-emptive: you’re misinterpreting their wording incorrectly.
They’re did everything right, in as much you’d expect from free services that depend on ad revenues to pay for your piracy.
Everything they do is conducted legally and legitimately.
It’s just you who hasn’t read the fine print or failed to see what to do next.
This reminds me of when people used to make claims about viruses and ads with Mega.co.nz when it didn’t depend on ads (surprisingly). Largely talk about Flash-based attacks where Mega was entirely based on HTML5 which gets rid of Flash altogether.
Of course, they weren’t compitent enough to give any more details on what happened when they were doing it so nothing could be solved for their poor souls.
After letting it sit in JDownloader for some time, Gamefront finally worked.
Thanks for this. Enjoying the re-listening to it.
thanks a mill
Kind regards, Klaus.
?
I think that’s a yes.
ALAC can always be converted back to FLAC, if so desired (on user end).
not cool?
It’s fine, don’t worry about it.
Well, I don’t understand this…
It’s fine, don’t worry about it.
🙂
He wasn’t sure what you were referring to as "cool", since it was right after his post about re-upping to MEGA in M4A/Apple Lossless.
and then things just got cartoony from there.
But, I’m all for a mirror.

Ah, now it makes sense. I was referring to the OP.
But this Deluxe Edition is not Lossless! So, technically, it would be lossy M4A/Apple Lossless… or lossy FLAC 😉
A technicality in wording and splitting hairs.
The format is a Apple’s lossless format, the same as the free open source format, FLAC.
The same as OP’s copy.
It’s not intended to be an upgrade of any sort.
Just transcoded from lossless format to another lossless format.
Essentially, still a lossless process since nothing was altered from OP’s work to the M4A.
Which, M4A is just a container, and in this case, contains the Apple Lossless format.
Nothing was implied to replace the lossy work involved in the first generation of OP’s work.

Its a forum that has been there for a decade (or more) and just got resurrected after the original owner passed away several years ago. They have the habit to open up registering only on occasion… the latest date will be December 1st, maybe sooner (I wrote a mail, complaining :)). On that day, itll stay open for a month (if Im not mistaken).
Just a question, why did someone rate this thread 1 star? Curious.
Maybe that person didnt like what I did to the score? Wouldnt surprise me in the least. After all, I change a lot.

While I admire your explanation (they rock!) I think they are futile. You wouldnt know how often Ive recommended JDownloader – still no one seems to use it. And no one uses an Adblocker! No wonder that Google makes profit using adverts.

AH! Falsch 😉
Its partially lossy. Didnt you read my OP? Ive described it fairly detailed: I kept as many OST-tracks as possible and spliced additional / extended / different lossy version into the lossless tracks. BTW, I bought the CD myself when it came out. The OST tracks were ripped to my HDD using a Plextor drive. But now an example: "Maleficent is captured" – from 0:00 to 4:17 its lossless, from 4:18 to 4:51 its lossy and from then on to the end lossless again. I did the same to all other tracks, except the additional tracks of course. So Id say that 75-80% are still lossless. Merits ALAC, dont you think 😉
😀
On the other hand, technically, its not lossless. I used resampling, stereophasic tools, equalizing, level adjustment, dynamic alteration, etc. Those are DSPs, ‘hacking’ into the formerly pristine data. From a data integrity standpoint, this release now is crap. Splitting hairs of course… but some people would mind.

Well, the OP, Sonic, had stated the sessions were available to him in 320kbps mp3 format..so I would assume it is lossy format.
Does anyone read the OP? LOL
Just look above, you two…
getting too old. no kids on the lawn yet.

Oh, I know the feeling… Just read my OP. Oh wait, you did 😀
Just kidding. I too tend to write way too much.
There’s 70 minutes of music by JNH in the first Hunger Games film. Though some of the best parts were cut out of the movie and CD (Replaced by source cues). Maleficent is a different thing (it’s a fantasy film), the film seems to have wall-to-wall music.
Maleficent is wall-to-wall music. Barely a second passing without any music. Many intertwined melodies (extremely clever ones, too), huge orchestra and choir (recorded in London). Its a fully grown fantasy score. And – I might add – on occasion, really old-fashioned (in a very positive way).
Question:
– Did you finalize the "remastering" of Spider-Man 3 and The Last Samurai?
Question: Did you finalize the "remastering" of Spider-Man 3 and The Last Samurai?
Nope. Far from finished actually. I might enjoy Spidey but Last Samurai has been feeling like a dead weight on my shoulders. Dont want to finish it, not my cup of tea.
Will no one help her out? I wont upload to Mega since I would have to register there…
LD did a mega upload on post #76
Wasnt there one where Stefan says something like that? I dont remember right now and Im too lazy to fire up the TV to have a look at my Bluray. If there was a scene for this, they have cut it entirely and not even included it within the special features.

Youd need to activate ‘gapless’ – if you can. It all depends on the capabilities of the DLNA server and the streaming device. I feel your pain, I do. Last week, I tried streaming over the PS3, it didnt work as expected. Connected to our renovation will also be the purchase of a Yamaha surround receiver which is able to do gapless playback.
check top of previous page :p
Nope, Im sorry. The playback device needs to pre-control or pre-buffer tracks in order to play gapless. But it is possible and depends a lot on the player. Besides, I use JRiver for rendering – that one supports gapless.
I wouldn’t mind getting those unused inserts. And the slates.
The 2 minutes refer not only to the inserts, they refer to one "alternate" (not-so-alternate) piece too. The inserts are musically completely uninteresting and accumulate to roughly 15-30 seconds. And no, these are not the perfect 30 seconds anyone seems to be looking for in a score. They wont be released, at least not by me. They arent related – not even remotely – to the docking sequence.
I don’t think so, but I could be wrong. I remember one of Stefan in the old king’s room which I think corresponds to the "To Wear It Is One Thing" score, and there’s one where the pixies seek asylum which obviously corresponds to the music of the same name, but the other three scenes on the Blu-ray are all shorter than the last bit of unused music and don’t have anything to do with not belonging. Weird; I guess it wasn’t on there then.

Thanks a lot for Mega link Lockdown!!! <3
Oh, I thought, Tapoktro shared his version in form of a singular post. How stupid of me… and maybe Collection’s wasnt joined with this thread because 1. he credited me and 2. people have already responded to it.
FLAC in the original post, mirrorcreator.
ALAC is the MEGA link that Lockdown provided as a mirror.
Transcoding them from one codec to the other is easy and doesnt hurt quality (since both are – in this case – lossless). You could download either and convert one to the other and vice versa. There are many programs available for any system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux) that will do it for free.
Great work, and big, big thanks for sharing it!!!
Much appreciated!!!…
I board a question: for music "Faerie Glen & Welcome To The Moors" missing Instrument for early music
you have this music instrument with missing ????
PS: sorry for my bad english = (
Heeeey !!! tys for the link my friend really i appreciate 🙂 much xoxo
In Disc 2, track 06. Maleficent is Captured (Film Version), there seems to be some small distortion (like a click or so) at around 00:04:25?
Am I just making this up or is it real? And in the later case, can it be corrected?
Cheers.

I know what you mean. I think that this is not a distortion but a member of the orchestra, someone accidentally hitting something. And I never remove this sort of thing 🙂
I see… already expected it could be something like that… every time I hear it it bugs me 😉
There’s a working link at #130.
