see title. didn’t see anywhere better to say this but…

i just finished trying to download some music from both here AND the k hinsi der website and the following happened:

k hi nsi der: i go to download only to find the site is giving me these crappy downloads of files at a size of 50 bytes. no mp3 file is THAT small.

i try here at ffshrine and guess what, EVERY. SINGLE. DOWNLOAD LINK. is an unknown error!

the downloads on both sites are broken and don’t work. if this can’t be resolved then both sites (maybe not these forums since the links here aren’t usually hosted on the main site >.>) are off my bookmarks.

The issues with insider don’t concern the Shrine, as far as I know, I don’t know why you’ve bothered to mention that place. Ah, Galbadia Hotel’s download links have been dead for months, at this point it’s unlikely they’ll return.

It’s most likely the stuff you’re after has been expunged by the people running the server on which the files are located. This happens all the time and requires a re-upload by the sharer. In some cases this can be a real hassle for some uploaders. Perhaps if you asked nicely, you may get a better response.

those of you saying things like that…i hope your trolling cause thats just terrible telling someone they should leave for reporting a broken section of the website. actually, i did remove the bookmark…the GH one, the links here in the forums are still of use and usually kept active so this place isn’t completely useless, though talking to people like you just might be. >.>

Maybe if you were a little nicer, more cooperative and less demanding… I don’t know, just saying.

And, realize links go down all the time for various reasons. I personally have uploaded massive amounts of material over the years. I cannot and do not keep that for myself and most know if it dies, it is gone. Also, I do not subscribe to most threads and so do not read them. If you want to ask for a re-up, you have to pm me. If not, the links will most likely stay dead.

Wait. I always thought the reason for the site’s server costs was because they were still holding all that music up for download, and it was just the links that weren’t working properly. That’s not the case?

KHI works and GH does not. Someone is using a screwed up computer, and Galbadia Hotel needs to improve about at least a few things… not only are the downloads not working, but the text is from the opening 15 years ago or something. Wish we could figure out why it costs so much, working or not.

As far as I know the domain’s lease expired on 29 September 2014.

The server’s owner (good for all those who know who she is) renewed the lease for the top-level domain @ ffshrine.org, but she never renewed the lease for dl1.ffshrine.org.

You can forget about getting any music from gh.ffshrine.org anymore, since the file server for dl1.ffshrine.org is gone forever.

If you are still damn desperate then as ghdude has suggested go try KHI

Emhmm. Definitely. Traffic should have probably shrank to less than 10 GB/week (provided people are just pushing text and stop flushing their caches)

The running costs are just too astronomical… unless you have the money to do so yourself. Setup a server with some RAID 6 (ADG) configuration, get some 15K RPMs /SSDs, and get some energy efficient motherboard technology like Intel Xeon. Done.

The initial set-up costs would agreeably balloon to about SGD$10-12k on a self-built configuration, or SGD$20k on a pre-ordered, pre-configured configuration. Either way, you don’t have to force people to pay $2000 per month after 6 – 10 months, all you are just getting people to pay is really just the electricity (which a server consumes a shit load of.)

But what’s gone is gone, and nothing can be done. Go and find some torrents if you are lucky (which I really don’t endorse), or if you are really desperate, buy some used albums online. It’s worth it. Just imagine the satisfaction you get.

Well, it seems as if whenever folks come here looking for free material and find dead links, their idea of a reasonable response is to demand the links be fixed/re-upped. Sure, a lot are nice and polite, but many more actually **demand**. Like they are somehow owed the material. Like this is a library, or something. And folks wonder why some of the regulars have pulled away from posting?

Is the DDL server completely dead and gone? If a copy of the data still exists, would it be possible to get a torrent of the server’s contents for posterity? There is a lot of good stuff that is hard/impossible to find outside of this site, and I’d love the chance to get a copy of it before it ends up gone and forgotten. I really loved the ability to just wander the download section and listen to any song that caught my fancy.

If it came down to it, I’d be willing to pay the storage and hosting fees on a seedbox for 6 months to cover getting the data into the torrent and a few dozen copies seeded out to keep the torrent alive.
