People are going to hoard it and use it to trade amongst themselves because they’re selfish losers.
Frankly, I don’t care how many sessions are being traded, as long as one or two of them leak to the public every now and then.
I do care, just for the repugnant point that I’ve already made before that, people are only doing it so that they can get other rare stuff that they don’t already have. That’s the ONLY reason they’re holding off. They don’t give a fuck about nobody but themselves, and their precious collection. That is the one and only reason why I dislike them so intensely.
I beg to differ. I have stuff that I cannot share because then I lose my friend’s trust. When you swear to someone to keep something to yourself and then you go leak it, that’s a rotten thing to do – and you have to live with yourself. I have also swore to not share or trade it, which I have not. So before you go pointing fingers and claiming that people use scores simply for their value, you may want to learn a few things. And I’m sorry you don’t have friends as fabulous as I do.
I think the ends justifies the means. If people posted anything and everything valuable they had, there would be a lot less rare stuff circulating in the circles. Therefore, there would be a lot less rare stuff being shared publicly.
If only twenty members here have Amazing Spider-Man 2, I’m cool with that. Because inevitably the number of people in possession of it will grow. And there’s always that one guy who decides to leak it for fame, for glory, or to be nice (or to get revenge on someone else). It might be a day or a month or a decade before that happens. But it’s better than nothing.
And you are who?
Its also easy to point fingers to those who have alot and shares now and then, but to think that just because some people have something , they are not obliged to share everything and its up to them if they want to do it. We should be greatful for what we get, but some people are NEVER satisfied and only claim more and more…
Neither do I.
People ask me all the time if I have access to rare Horner sessions, but I don’t. Everything I’ve gotten came from others who offered them to me as a project to work on – to make something of the raw materials if necessary – and post them here only when I’ve been given permission.
I wish I had access, I wish I had those friends in high places, but nope.
Believe me, I’m eternally grateful to have been graced with the treasures I’ve either worked on, or in some cases didn’t have to work on because they were perfect as is.
I’ve made a few things like a custom for "Amazing Spider-Man" (not 2 obviously, since the whole point of this thread is that sessions aren’t out…yet) and "Karate Kid", but didn’t share them because others (such as SonicAdventure) did a good custom of Spider-Man already, and Karate Kid was something I just didn’t see much point in sharing.
I ended up remaking a few things, such as "The Perfect Storm" (gave it some minor audio tweaks and volume adjustments) but haven’t shared it because Sonic made a deluxe people are happy with (though personally I prefer mine because I favor a chronological order without blended cues for that particular score) and I’ve just completed my remix of "Titanic", which took me a week to do because I made some adjustments I hadn’t before, in order to make the whole thing sound a bit bigger and not miss important details…I’m going to upload it soon. It was part of a larger project I was doing and then I had computer issues.
If sessions for "Amazing Spider-Man 2" come out, I’ll probably do a custom of it because I like the score, moreso in the film than on album (though the Electro inner thought vocal thing was cheesy…but it worked anyway in a comic sort of way) and also because with unedited suite material, I could probably do a big Horner/Zimmer combo album or something….I often try playing both themes in my head seeing if they can somehow fit together. They can if the musical keys are right and the tempo adjusted…but that would be a very hard thing to pull off, let alone pull off well.
If the sessions ever see the light of day, I would love to see you make one of your versions. I’m surprised you like the score, I know Zimmer isn’t your taste. I think everyone can agree it works way better in the film. It’s a fun score.
Batman, Spider-Man, Crimson Tide, Simpsons…I’m good with those. More than good, I love those.
The news / Copland thing is a really odd fit for Spider-Man and I really don’t care for it compared to Horner’s Spider-Man theme, especially when it could’ve easily been used in this film and fit with the rest of what Zimmer was doing, but that’s my one and only criticism of the score.
Couple of years ago I made these using the sessions:
The links are long dead (megaupload and multiupload, that’s why) but I never would’ve made those if I didn’t love the scores and in particular loved how well they played in the films.
Also those old end credit links and what not.
I did do one for RISES, but it was not a series of standalone video sequences but an isolated score. I haven’t uploaded it because I wasn’t happy with the audio quality – the editor I used added some minor distortion to the track.
I actually call them all "Film Music Highlights", a term I made up almost 10 years ago. Only other videos available here I’ve done are the ‘War’ sequence from "AVATAR" and the full score for "Amazing Spider-Man".
Basically it’s a Dolby Digital stereo track designed to sync with the film. I do have it synced with a medium quality rip of the film, I can probably just upload that so no one has to do any ‘muxing’ unless they wanted to with a higher quality version of the film itself.
I also made an isolated score track for BEGINS as well, but haven’t done DARK KNIGHT yet.
The track I made for BEGINS I attached to an uncompressed rip of the film from my original Blu-ray disc, so I’d have to extract it to make it uploadable.
One thing I should add about the ending of RISES and its score:
The music at the end of TDK gave the Gordon speech a kind of sad, tragic but proud nobility.
The exact same music plays through the end of RISES and it is intensely hopeful and even magical.
Once Blake ducks down to avoid the swarm of bats, then Gordon begins to feel the texture of the new Bat Signal, while Blake rises up, it’s a completely magical moment and I get teary-eyed every single time I see it. It just hits me right where I live. Love it. Love it.

Is it possible to change the titel of this thread?
Secondly, it’s a tough world. But let’s just be thankful that there are those out there who are willing to share, or we’d have absolutely nothing. I guess this is the only way the whole system will work. And hey, who doesn’t like a bit of suspense?! I’m tempted to think it’d be rather boring if we had the sessions to every film immediately after the film is released. I love getting really familiar with the OST to a film and then exploding with joy at finally hearing the complete score if it gets leaked. If I had the complete score to begin with, it wouldn’t mean half as much…
Regarding the "selfish losers" who don’t publicly share everything they get…
I have had the immense privilege of receiving a couple of very generous gifts from a user here (who shall remain nameless – you know who you are) over the past few months. I am eternally grateful to them and their kindness in sharing. However, they requested that I didn’t go and share what they’d given me publicly on the forum, as they had had to go to some lengths to procure the stuff. There are probably other reasons too, but I’m not going to go interrogating them as to what those reasons are. I will honour my promise and not share the stuff here. It’s what friends do. If I had no problem losing friends and my reputation, I would share. But, as Amanda said, it comes down to personal sense. Besides, how ungrateful is it to go against the wishes of the one who so generously shared with you? Betraying trust is simply not nice.
Anyway, back to the thread topic (regardless of how many heart attacks the title induced)… I particularly want the prologue cue from the plane scene! What other particular cues are people here wanting?
I think Zimmer’s Spidey theme is great – particularly the opening fanfare as he swings through New York. It also works really well as an emotional piano theme when Peter and Gwen are together. 🙂
