Summary
In 2054, mankind suddenly entered a war with a mysterious alien race which suddenly attacked Earth. The United Nations reorganized the army to oppose them and to defend the Earth, and named it as "The first encounter action." In 2059, the invasion was still going on. A special unit called "Funeral" was set up to actively combat these aliens.

This anime centers around Takudo Kaneshiro, a scientist whose life was ruined by one of the aliens, and Hattie Bartholomew, a innocent 13-year old girl with a strange link to a seemingly friendly Alien named "EX-1" (AKA Frank). [from AniDB]
