Petr Hapka
Petr Hapka is one of the most renowned Czech composers, as song writer as well as film music composer. He wrote music for more than 150 films, from drama, historical to comedy, children animation, TV serials and of course fairy tales. One of his earliest works is the sci-fi thriller Akce Bororo (Operation Bororo) from 1973, his latest film is called Dešťov� v�la (The Rain Fairy) and was released in 2010. Sadly, no soundtracks where released in terms of his music, with exeption of the three part compilation V obrazech (Thread 177688), released between 2003 and 2004, which covered some of his most remarkable compositions.
Everlasting Melodies is a project I had in my mind quite some time, as I’m a huge fan of this composer and some of his melodies stuck in my head from that time I heard them. Here I will give other people the opportunity to listen to some of his music as part of an audio rip. I selected the tracks, ripped and tagged them and put them together. Sadly, I have no professional equipment, so the tracks are featuring some dialogue or sound effects. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoy them!! This is the first volume of the series, which I hopefully will continue, if you give me some positive feedback (maybe also some suggestions or tips!) 😉 Well, now let’s take a look…
In this collection, we have the Czech-German co-production of the classical tale by the Brothers Grimm, Snow White (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105326/?ref_=nm_flmg_com_30), which discovers the secret of the Dwarves – a bunch of scientists, which have a very special gift for the King…
The second film, The Seven Ravens (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0108075/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_7), based on Božena Němcov�’s (Three Nuts for Cinderella) version of the popular Grimm fairytale, for which Petr Hapka uses, like in Snow White, a very elegiacal tone, inspired by
Johann Sebastian Bach’s Preludes, as well as the organ melodies, which resemble Bach’s chorals. The film won a few awards. Last but not least, we have another co-production, this time of the CSSR, Germany France, Italy and and Austria.
Vandronik’s (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0246305/?ref_=ttfc_fc_tt) story is based on a novel by Danish writer Hans Christian Andersen, and like the previous two films, directed by veteran Ludv�k R�ža. Here, Hapka makes use of a beautiful panflute melody, similar to be highly popular "Motiv l�sky from the 1985 film Perinbaba.
