The complete score in better sound. Some combined tracks. Good one, VS.

Apparently, it’s not complete. I have read at least one cue is missing. I dunno the score, so I can’t really elaborate.

It appears to only be missing the track Spock To Spock

Shame VS didn’t repeat the packaging of the first Star Trek Deluxe. The artwork suggests this’ll be in a standard jewel case.

I think you’ll be the only one disappointed on that count.

Sadly you’re probably right…99% here will probably settle for this:

Haha too true! I for one just don’t like how the Star Trek ’09 takes up so much more space (length wise) on my shelf than the other Star Trek expansions. Happy to get this new album either way!

Spock To Spock is a really interesting track on the complete score, it’s a shame it isn’t there. Perhaps it’s combined, or are the track lengths indicative it isn’t there?

I would like to request the 320 MP3 version.

I looked at the session tracks and times for "Ship to Ship" and "Hallway Fight" – they pretty much match what’s on the Deluxe Edition (give or take a couple of seconds). Looks like "Spock To Spock" wasn’t combined with either track since it comes between the two on the sessions compilation.

Hmm. Thanks for clearing that up Which Doctor?!

I just ordered this today as I had promised a while back seeing as I didn’t get around to buying the 09 set. I’m just glad it sounds better than the leak at least!

Well, I for one don’t like the new cover art for Into Darkness SE at all. It looks cheap, they should have gone a completely new direction. Or at least handle it with a little bit more care.

I’m talking about the cover art image though, not about the package size.

TBH, the covers should have been switched. Khan should be regular soundtrack, and the ship for the deluxe..

Oh I definitely agree about the covers.

There a few fan covers I like better than both of those, but I agree, the ship would have made more sense for the deluxe.

Do a google search for flac torrents. It’s there. Flac doesn’t improve the quality of the score, though. Unfortunately it’s a perfect example of 21st century background noise. Consider the imaginative gulf between this and Goldsmith’s STTMP, or even Horner’s Wolfen/ST II and III and whatever else Horner re-used the music for. Filling-enough background muzak, I guess, but there sure isn’t much here.

Amanda

However, Goldsmith and Horner’s style from that time would never work at all in any modern movie style. Films themselves do not support that these days. As much as Man of Steel’s score disappoints me, Williams’ themes would be awful in place of it. :notgood: 🙁

Plutopurto

I think Superman Returns was right to use Williams’ themes as that film had the light-hearted tone. Man of Steel had a Dark Knight moody tone.

TeddyV – Muzak? Imaginativ gulf? The times have changed, for better or worse, the process of scoring has evolved and that means the sound has been altered. Giacchino however is a great composer among his peers today and I’m thankful he is born from the ashes of the older generations of composers and not another RCP clone.
