as a contrast to anne dudleys black book soundtrack (2006),available on this board, and jaz coleman`s the island (2013) i offer this 1991 joint venture of the two composers.
wimpel69 has added in depth information on jaz coleman with his upload to which i could not add anything, and about anne dudley i dont know much either.
the island is a broad orchestral symphonic work with lots of tempo changes and mood swings, while anne dudleys black book sounds more like a soundtrack, accentuating the plot of a film.
songs from the victorious city is very different from the later works of the two composers.most of the musicians are from egypt and the record was partially recorded in cairo.besides the oriental instrumentation the rhythms are driving and dont change within the individual tracks.
jaz coleman plays flute and violin, anne dudley keyboards.they both composed the music.additional musicians are hossam ramzy-percussion,fouad rohin-violin,reda bedaire-nai,amir abd-el-qanoun and more.
