I just read, that Atlantis Models is coming out with the flying saucer from EARTH VS THE FLYING SAUCERS,
semi-transparent plastic, with pre-wired LED for the death ray, and black and white backdrop of the White House.
It can be built landed or flying.
I really like this movie. Of course, I hated to see Washington trashed.

Your damn skippy Right!!
Now that sounds cool! I love that movie too, along with "Them" scared the crap out of me when I saw it as a kid! that sound of those ants just got to me!! I still watch both movies…got to love DVD! All the special effects of the space ships looked great! they still hold up after so much time.
If it was done today I would not mind so much if the liar in-chief was taken out! but spared the White House! I don’t want to see the Military or Secret Service go down for that knot head!!

It was a great idea my friend 🙂

Here is the patch display I made and screen grabs from THEM! to show the patches. Real patches I found on ebay.
The Police Uniforms are the real deal. That is what make this movie so good, they tried to be serious and as real as they could.
What were the patches going for? do you remember? I’d love to get one of those shields they wore!! 🙂
Scott
As for the shield, I want one, too. You can get one made from sites online. I was looking into getting one for another movie, just never placed an order.
Hey, Scotty, my friend, how do you do? (Off-topic: had time to listen to the latest James Last albums, from the 90ies?)
And, your location now makes me wonder if the partnership with my home-town is still possible! I really hope so – my people hate censorship as much as you do! 🙂
AZSneed, nice to see you again. Have to come to terms with your new avatar, though – has it some special meaning I’m not aware of?
As for "Them", I saw this picture on German TV way back in the 70ies – it’s starring James Arness, later to be known as Marshall Matt Dillon from "Gunsmoke", one of my all-time favourite Western TV shows! And, if you watch "Them!" again, have a look for on of the Air Force Sergeants! If you look hard, you will see… LEONARD NIMOY, no less, in an un-credited minor role! 😉
EDIT: Found a youtube clip from "Them!" with the Nimoy scene:
THEM! – Nimoy and Parker – Leonard and Fess – THEM! – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHvs7CzZWWk)
My avatar is from Captain Spectre and the Lightning Legion online comic, done by my friend Tom Floyd. It is a Sci-Fi/movie serial/radio show type comic.
As for Nimoy as a Air Force Sergeant, he played the same kind of character in the 1958 TV series Steve Canyon. Kind of weird to me.
As for THEM!, it was to be in color and 3D, but, problems arose and we got a black and white movie with 3D like color title. I hope they colorized in the future.
Well, then, I like it anyway! And I love old comics, even if I don’t have many – except for some movie tie-ins like Star Trek, Thriller, Twilight Zone (Gold Key), mostly as downloads. (I DO have some original Star Trek Gold Key’s, though – cost me a small fortune! LOL)
As for Nimoy as a Air Force Sergeant, he played the same kind of character in the 1958 TV series Steve Canyon. Kind of weird to me.
So then Nimoy got accustomed early on to how it felt to be typecast! 🙂
Good luck, Greg

You can read about the hack here Read PMs (PM Management Suite Lite) – vBulletin.org Forum (http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=209344) you have to be a Super Administrator for this to work.

We don’t read the private messages of our members. I don’t have the time or need to do so. The only info I have any knowledge of are ones certain members told me about or quoted. That’s on that member as I asked him not to. And, a certain member posted a message that included my reply right in his signature, thus making what was a private message very, very public. That would be your buddy score geek with the approval of your other buddy theone2000. I do believe any posts sent to members who did not appreciate them were sent to admin as a report. But I have no direct knowledge of that.
Please Greg do not forget that when you are "attacked", such as with Gwent, you quoted and posted every PRIVATE message he sent you. Doing so negates your butthurt about them not being private.
I would love to know what you think Sorei did, other than continue to be friends with me, thus breaking your little "code of conduct". I could care less what is said about me or anyone in private. I told this to Greg, and merely asked him privately to stop calling me a certain name. That is it. I asked for nothing else. You people are crazier than I am and that takes some doing.

Anybody here ever watched old Sci-Fi movie serials? Some of my favorites are the Flash Gordon with Buster Crabbe, Commando Cody:Radar Men from the Moon(rocket back pack) with George Wallace (he was also in Forbidden Planet), the sequel Zombies of the Stratosphere with Nimoy playing a Martian(typed cast alien) to name a few.
I have not seen most of those since the 70’s! other then Forbidden Planet (which I have) I do remember Nimoy playing a Marian!!! 🙂 (type cast for a long time) Are they on DVD? I sure hope so I loved those serials.
Scott
the serials alone.
One of the best super hero movie serials is Captain Marvel. Evil bad guys, and the justice he does is awesome. Hint, no going to jail.
And, it ends real good, very satisfying indeed.
One that I still have not watched is Buck Rogers with Buster Crabbe. Well, not the whole serial, they made a movie out of it, and I felt confused.

I figured they would mix them with other serials! Originally they were shown in the theater before the main movie (if I remember right, each episode was 10 minutes long! and every week they would show a new one until the end) They used to show them on TV once a week, late at night, which was about the time I got home. I’ll start looking for them, I was hoping to get them all on DVD! darn….it is what it is. Thanks my friend!

Paranoia? Reading messages is not possible? Anybody with access to the server could do so – if they wished. And I’ll cut to the chase, it gets worse. This site isn’t using a HTTPS protocol, which leaves all messages wide open. If I were you, rather than wasting time cracking down on your patrons, I’d get this site on a new secure HTTPS protocol pronto.
You’re telling the wrong person about securing https protocol or whatever, i’m not the owner of the site, i have no idea about any of that stuff. I’m a volunteer admin that deals with the problems going on in the forum, so dealing with patrons is my job.
Some of you seem to think i have something against you, i honestly don’t. I’d like nothing more than to let you guys continue in here as you’d like but I’m currently dealing with an issue that Greg has brought up. He said any admin, mod or friend can access anybodies private messages here, which is complete garbage. If you need access to the database or server to do so then only the owner of the site can do that and she doesn’t really deal with these issues, which is why you get the pleasure of my company 🙂
I remember the original Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. They were so similar in production it looked like the same show at times. The cliffhangers were killers!
I also liked…
The old Batman & Robin in b&w. I took a fancy to that show because there weren’t any fancy gadgets or swish car. Although the Adam West show I enjoyed too, along with the swish car.
Not sure if this qualifies as an oldie-oldie, but I quite liked the Lone Ranger cartoon show from the 70’s. It had a sci-fi twist to it. Blew me away.
As for the Lone Ranger, they alway added a Sci Fi twist even to Westerns.

LONE RANGER Filmation: I liked the story with the giant arrow the size of a telephone pole zooming from behind the mountains to nail some poor schlub.
BATMAN SERIALS: I love the segment in one of them where somebody says, "That’s a man-size job!" and Batman replies, "A BATMAN-SIZE job!".

In a small way though, it makes sense. Sheridan had built this huge alliance to fight the Shadows. Now he had to capitalize on that good PR to keep the station running in a ‘non-wartime’ situation from the point of view of his allies. Plus, as far as JMS knew at the time, season 4 was going to be the final season, so he had to kind of wrap things up quickly. The original Series Finale "Sleeping in Light" was filmed to air at the end of Season 4. When he got the fifth season, the quickly put together "The Deconstruction of Falling Stars". I think if he knew he would have the fifth season before season four wrapped, he would have taken more time.
On a separate note, I feel that Adventures of Brisco County Jr, Alien Nation, and Farscape were almost as under appreciated shows as Firefly has been. Any thoughts?
All good shows you list there, and another is Land of the Giants, to go with the other Irwin Allen shows. Don’t forget, besides the playing out side, school. We crammed a lots into our young minds.

B5, I like them all. I agree, season four was rushed, and Season 5 was too stretched to just finish it.
I liked Brisco when it was on TV, it was a fun show, and it was cancelled too soon. Alien Nation, was a rare one, that was better than expected. Farscape, never watched it, no access to the series.
Yep, but it sure made you go back and see the next episode! even when I saw them on TV I wanted to see the next one, the local station that showed them would after the whole series was shown would play them all together one night then start on a different series…man what fun those times were.

Yeah, paranoia, pretty sure that’s what i said. As i’ve stated before that some of you can’t seem to understand, we don’t read private messages here. Doesn’t matter if we can access them or not, we just don’t.

Okay then why continue to bring it up in this thread! move it to PM so we can all get back to what we are here for and your company can be used somewhere else. 🙂
The answer is simple, if this site is unsecured (non HTTPS) then anyone can read all the messages! it’s not that hard and you don’t need physical access to the server. All one needs to do is download a small program called Metasploit on your personal computer and off you go, this site has a non-encryption key server (HTTP) and is very easy to hack into, it has no SSL (Secure Socket Layer protocol) again making it very easy to get into the server and download whatever file(s) a person wants. Talk to the owner and see about upgrading to an HTTPS (the S means Secured) server! sooner rather then later some smart kid is going to ruin your day.
Scott
I never call it a waste of time reading your PM’s! You not the only one! I did that the other day myself lol felt like a 80 year old man! (which I’m not) with Alzheimer!! it made me laugh 🙂
I saw the same ones too, thou I am old enough to remember seeing them when they were first shown on TV! and yes we had B&W TV at one time! switched up to color real fast…watching Get Smart, The Ghost and Mrs. Muir, The Man From UNCLE, then the Girl From UNCLE (Stephanie Powers was a hot woman) Petticoat Junction, Green Archers.
I know! all the shows at that time were only 30 minutes long, which left plenty of time to burn the candle at both ends 🙂 and to make the runs to the bathroom in-between commercials!! boy do I remember those times! my brothers and I would run like hell to the bathrooms (there are three of us and two bathrooms) and I can’t tell you how many times I slid into the bathroom just ahead of one of my brothers LOL he who was last did a lot of hopping 🙂 That is the big difference from kids today, none of them now have no idea what it is like to ride your bike on a beautiful warm summer evening and enjoy it with the other kids in the neighborhood.
Scott
I first saw it in re-runs, but I loved the show so much I got the DVD set and watched it with my mother! she loved that show, I think we watched it like 3 times together!! for an 86 year old she sure enjoyed it! that is the one thing I miss the most, is not watching the old TV shows together. Good Memories!! 🙂
I still watch B5, the episodes "Passing Through Gethsemane" and "A Late Delivery from Avalon" " G’Kar" "And He Made A Loud Thump When He Hit The Floor!" is some of my favorites. I loved G’Kar! A Warrior Poet with some of the best lines…"Of course. LOVE to say, can’t, have to go, kiss-kiss, love-love, bye!" G’Kar: [Zack Allen finds G’Kar in Garibaldi’s quarters] I was studying this image. Is it one of his household gods?
[G’Kar points at a framed portrait of Daffy Duck]
Zack Allan: No. That’s Daffy –
[laughs]
Zack Allan: yeah, well, in a way, I suppose it is. It’s sort of the Egyptian god of frustration."
"Citizen G’Kar: That hurt.
Na’Toth: Ambassador, it was the only way to disable the pain-givers. I had to hit them as hard as possible, as often as possible and still make it appear as though I were beating you into another incarnation.
Citizen G’Kar: And you didn’t enjoy it in the least.
Na’Toth: I didn’t say that."
One could go on for hours…That guy could make me laugh!!

Yeah that’s back when I lived out west, now I’m stuck in pudunkville in the Mid-Atlantic, I’m still not used to it here and it’s been 35 years, 29 years where I’m at now. People tell me it’s not the same in the Valley east edge of L.A. That it’s changed a lot since the 60’s and 70’s. I still miss the beaches, mountains and especially the desert. Booo hoooooooo, I made myself saaaaaad. Those were the days indeed.
Well I’m only 4 hours from the L.A. Area and I know about change! the city I live in as a kid went from 140,000 people to now being over 500,000! I’ve lived back east for a while, I did not like seeing rain going sideways! the snow did not brother me! it was the tornadoes that suck the roof off your house or deposited you in the next county that made me move back.
I used to live up in the foothills (about a mile from Pine Flat Dam) loved every minute out there, but come winter we get whats called Tule Fog! man you can not even see your hand in front of your face! try driving in that stuff! most of the time I drove with the driver side window down, doing about 5 miles an hour, trying to see the white center strip on the road!! sure give you the pucker factor plus 5. 🙂

Yeah from what I read it was to be a big time sci fi better then Star Trek, with even writers from Star Trek and others and to be based on real science and what could be out there in space, but it fell apart when they chopped the budget sent it to Canada and gave it to a second rate crew to handle effects and other production areas. Harlan Ellison told them to take his name out of the credits. It fell apart. Oh well.

The town I live in is 500,000 people but a little short on good record shops (which sucks) all we have is the big box stores (Best Buy, Walmart etc.) the last good record shop around closed several years ago 🙁 Guess I have to travel 4 hours to L.A. to find anything good now a days.

burned DVD, I did not get far, I got bored. I will have to try again to watch it.

Earth II was a TV movie pilot, that never sold. Earth 2 Started on a Space Station, then they landed on Earth 2, their new planet home.It lasted about one season.
Holly Crap!! I almost forgot about The Starlost Show!! I have the VHS version! it figures they release it on DVD now!! damn. I have the book "Phoenix Without Ashes" (paperback) by Harlan Ellison (aka Cordwainer Bird that’s what he went by after Canadian CTV network took his script and raped it) man that show was a stinker!! thank God it only lasted 16 episodes then FOX put a round right between the eyes on that show. The book is great and I highly recommend reading it! Thanks AZ! now I have another show to watch :p
The Book has a forward that Harlan Ellison goes into about what happened to his story and all changes that were made, to the point he walk away from the whole thing! That’s why I was so surprised to see him writing for B5, guess the money was good and they left him alone to do his thing. If I remember right Mr. Ellison did a small part on B5 playing a Psi Cop the episode was "The Face of the Enemy" I think that was his only screen time for the whole 5 years.

I remember watching that one! I know how you feel AZ, it got me interested in stop motion too when I was in high school (film class) Planet of the Apes was okay! could have used more production value but in the end it did not lost long enough to really get on its feet…to bad.

I am a big fan of Babylon 5, and as it was a Warner Bros. production, JMS included a scene in the first season of Security Chief Garibaldi sharing his second favorite thing in the universe with something, Duck Dodgers in the 24th 1/2 Century.
A weirdly funny movie, and cool Lego sets. A fan, no doubt.

A fan, too, of both.
Then I saw "Tammy", which was produced by that GOD AWFUL Wil Ferrell, and the even worse Melissa McCarthy, who also wrote this screenplay. The film wasn’t too bad, once you got past the first 30 minutes or so, Melissa was not playing her usual over the top, loud, obnoxious foul mouthed person. They had Susan Sarandon as her grandmother, which was a bit of a stretch, since she is MY AGE! (hehehehehe) and I swear, Susan didn’t have ONE wrinkle on her whole face! Anyway, Melissa gets a makeover about 1/2 way thru, and she starts to look cute, so that helped. But all in all, wait for it to come onto TV for FREE, then you are only wasting TIME! 😀
"This is Captain John Sheridan. We are here on the authority of a multi-planetary force, that can no longer stand by and watch one of their greatest allies falling into darkness and despair. We are here on behalf of the thousands of civilians murdered under orders from the current administration, who have no one else to speak for them, and on behalf of the EarthForce units that have joined us to oppose the tyranny that has darkened Earth, ever since President Santiago was assassinated three years ago. We are here to place President Clark under arrest, to disband Nightwatch, and return our government to the hands of her people. We know that many in the government have wanted to act, but have been intimidated by threats of retaliation against your families, your friends. You are not alone anymore. We call upon you to rise up and do what’s right! We have drawn their forces away from Earth and disabled them. The time to act is now! This is not the voice of treason. These are your sons, your daughters, whose loyalties have never wavered, whose beliefs in this alliance has forced us to take extraordinary means! @Scott The 80s weren’t perfect, but they were definitely quieter, and one had a more positive outlook.
That’s for damn sure!! and more respect!!!
I love the sound of a Huey!! nothing like the WOMP WOMP WOMP of a Huey!!
We have a AVCRAV building at our airport, they repair the Apache AH-64 so I get to hear them all the time, and some Huey’s, plus the Air National Guard Unit fly’s the F-16 and F-15E Eagles (their new, replacing the the F16’s) to much noise for those that live in front of the take off pattern (of course the Airport was there long before the homes were built [the airport is what was called Hammer Field during WW II] but you can’t tell those home owners that) not the F15 are quieter then the 16’s (which there not) so the F15’s have to do a steep climb (almost on there tell) so they don’t break the windows, and a hard right turn over what is called "Leaky Acres" a very large holding pound (and where aircraft dump fuel in an emergency, which goes back into the ground water!), they can save them so much trouble if our city would just buy them out…but no there to damn stupid!
Scott
In terms of noise, nothing, but nothing was as loud as the Concorde. That was truly deafening.
As for a Huey, I had one in the 90’s hover over our home garden, with a man hanging out the door looking for Marijuana plants. I too, like the sound of a Huey, I know when one is near.

WOW! that’s a little old way to do it! and a great way to fall to ones death.
Here they use FLIR! Marijane plants put off a lot of heat and can be picked up really easy with FLIR! probably why we have 4 Law Enforcement helicopters in our county alone, all with FLIR!
I think the whole State is covered in asbestos! I know personally all my schools were, the Court House, The Sheriff Department Building, The Old Jail, County Records Building and just about every old building in the downtown area and all the welfare buildings (all from WW II, they were sold to the county for one dollar after the war) hell even the old county hospital is full of asbestos!!
Scott
LOOL yeah If the Commander In Thief can do it and talk about it like it is nothing…then anything is possible! The only draw back is Federal Law, since it supersedes State Law and Mary Jane is still classified as an illegal drug, then it won’t go anywhere! the only reason some States are Allowing the sell and possession is the Feds are not enforcing the Federal Law right now! which is to be expected as long as we have Holder as AGUSA nothing will happen…whoever takes over for Holder is going to have a real mess on his or her hands and is going to take years to clean up.

With this Administration nothing surprises me anymore!
Mark my words! when people start seeing a climb in Auto deaths of there children because of Mary Jane they will vote to stop this crap!!

Woke up at 1:30 PM and loaded up the wife and oldest grandkid. Went 15 miles away to a principality that allows fireworks. Then we spent about five hours blowing them all up with some out-of-state friends that we only see this one time a year. It was GLORIOUS! Even though I had to threaten a few Yahoos who were playing Roman-Candle tag much too close to my family.
It’s a good thing we had set up a portable canopy, because when we took it down at 10PM, there was about a ten-gallon-hat’s worth of paper and burned debris that had tumbled from the sky! Burnt-out rocket pieces, etc.
It’s great to celebrate the freedoms of our heritage. At least in the Oklahoma heartland, being corny and patriotic is alive and well! As I reminded my wonderful wife at bedtime, "The American system is the worst in the world … except for ALL THE OTHER ONES!!!"

This was back in the 90’s when Clinton was in office (don’t get me started on that POS) but there was a building at Groom Lake (aka Area 51) that the maintenance crew painted with a few words on the roof in Russian (they know the USSR spy satellites were taking pictures of) that said *uck you! the POS ordered it painted over because the Russians got upset about! Not sure if it’s worth watching the rest, if it picks up a little with a good plot, but it looks like they have to fight through the Bio-Spheres battle other people from different cultures. Like the 2nd Amendment actually means everyone has the right to have Bear Arms hanging in their living room.
Trust me on this, I have the VHS of all the episodes, it just gets worse! there is one episode were they find a sphere with some of the original crew! now this whole story is supposed to take place 405 years after launch from Earth! talk about longevity! but there they are, studying the stars as if nothing has happened. This show was originally supposed to last 5 years, because that’s all the time they have before the ship (Ark) runs into a sun! and the three from the dome Cypress Corners is trying to find the main bridge, so they can change the course of the ship, but in the first or second episode they find the main bridge! WTF!! now their quest is to find the backup bridge!!!
If you want to read the real story read the book by Harlan Ellison "Phoenix Without Ashes" it is far superior to the TV version. There is a reason why Harlan Ellison changed his name on the screen credits to "Cordwainer Bird" It is a Royal Stinker! Harlan Ellison writes a forward about what CTV did to his story and behind the scene’s of the producer’s and writers. I hope you did not buy this? if you did you wasted your money.

It is a comedy, on the spaceship Red Dwarf. If you ever heard the phase Smeg Head, you will find out watching the series. I recommend it!

Our catalogue of rare, old, or simply odd-ball sci-fi shows has to include The Highwayman starring Sam Jones (1987)
A small Trek connection is that Tim Russ appeared in a few episodes and a few episodes were directed by Rob Bowman. Also Michael Berryman was in the pilot episode.
A small B5 connection too, Claudia Christian was in a few episodes. There are also connections to V, Project UFO, Galactica 1980, …
The pilot episode also featured Roddy Piper (who was in the classic They Live) and Jimmy Smits (Star Wars: Sloppy Seconds).

I really feel that Crusade did not get the chance it should have. JMS tried to run a continuation of Babylon 5, but TNT wanted more immediate gratification and wouldn’t stop changing things. The broadcast order was screwed up, the uniforms changed halfway through. But the highlights are Captain Gideon and Galen. Those two actors had good chemistry and it showed in their characters. Plus, who wouldn’t want to watch a show with a Technomage?

How many of them have been flops?
Where have we gone?
Over the edge, my friend! Out into left field, down the rabbit hole, warp 11 into wacky land. Oh, the places we’ll go!
If I can only remember where I put the keys to the shuttlecraft!
Have a great weekend, folks!

I have the complete set of BAB 5 movies
Extracted from Babylon 5 – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Babylon_5)
The widescreen conversion thing was executive short sightedness at it’s finest!!! We offered to do ALL of Babylon 5 in widescreen mode if Warner Bros would buy us a reference monitor so we could check our output. (only $5000 at the time) Ken Parkes (the "Business affairs" guy) and Netter (penny wise, but pound foolish) said no! So we did everything so it could be CROPPED to be widescreen! Each blamed the other by the way. Doug Netter said, "Ken Parkes said no". Ken Parkes said, "Doug Netter said no". SHEESH!!! So for $75 an episode they could have had AWESOME near Hi-Def.

While the series was in pre-production, studios were looking at ways for their existing shows to make the transition from the then-standard 4:3 aspect ratio to the widescreen formats that would accompany the next generation of televisions. After visiting Warner Bros., who were stretching the horizontal interval for an episode of Lois & Clark, producer John Copeland convinced them to allow Babylon 5 to be shot on Super 35mm film stock. "The idea being that we would telecine to 4:3 for the original broadcast of the series. But what it also gave us was a negative that had been shot for the new 16×9 widescreen-format televisions that we knew were on the horizon."
Though the CGI scenes, and those containing live action combined with digital elements, could have been created in a suitable widescreen format, a cost-saving decision was taken to produce them in the 4:3 aspect ratio. The intention was to then crop the top and bottom of the images, and upscale the resolution for any future widescreen release or broadcast. In 2000, when the show was transferred to widescreen for airing on the Sci-Fi Channel prior to its eventual DVD release, the plan was not followed, as John Copeland recalls: "They did another video hack, and simply used a digital post production device like a DVE (Digital Video Enhancer) to blow the material up. They essentially stretched it approximately 1/3 to fill the larger aspect ratio."
The scenes containing live action ready to be composited with matte paintings, CGI animation, etc., were delivered on tape already telecined to the 4:3 aspect-ratio, and contained a high level of grain, which resulted in further image noise being present when enlarged and stretched for widescreen.[112] For the purely live-action scenes, rather than using the film negatives, "Warners had even forgotten that they had those. They used PAL versions and converted them to NTSC for the US market. They actually didn’t go back and retransfer the shows."[113]
With the resulting aliasing, and the progressive scan transfer of the video to DVD, this has created a number of visual flaws throughout the widescreen release. In particular, quality has been noted to drop significantly in composite shots.
Not you!

Tonight I may start watching Crusade. My wife sat and watched the last of BAB 5 last night with me, she also likes DS9 and TNG. It’s great being married to a woman who understands and appreciates good SiFi. My daughters watch and enjoy them also but my son prefers shows like family guy 🙁
Where did you go wrong with your son? I guess you can’t win them all over to Sci-Fi.
Never seen Alien Nation.
Never pearl!! 🙂
Sorry I have not been around these past few days, but I needed to to relax, the old heart is not what it used to be.

Farscape, never watched it. Alien Nation, is a good series. I like it that it is about people, not a lot of FX. So, if you like police/family dramas, you will like it. Oh, and they do have these spotted, bald headed people in it, kind of alien looking.
Shame On You!! You never watched Farscape!!! it’s a great show 🙂 I have the whole series and have watched it several times, I highly recommend it.

Warner Bros is no different then any of the other studios! they want to spend less on the product for a bigger return! All they see is the bottom line. WB and TNT made millions off of B5 and continue to do so today! None of them understand the close relationship between the producers, actors, writers and the viewers! all the studios see is what they can make! they (studios) could care less what we the viewers think! just as long as they are making boat loads of money! If a studio would pump good money into B5 or a Star Trek series they would make there money and then some, but no! they will do whatever it takes to spend less and make more in the short run, never thinking about 5 or 10 years down the road….very shot sighted view. The other sad part is, it will never change!

It’s okay my friend 🙂 God gave us the wisdom to use our planet wisely or to abuse it like fools! When the time comes that we can leave this world and travel to another planet, my hope is that we well leave it in good shape, because there will be others that will not leave at all and still have to live here, but knowing humans, we will do whatever we want to to this planet knowing that it is just a thing for us and walk away from it with no thought about the future, just what we want or need to make us happy and content. If we as humans continue in this way, we will leave a string of dead planets in our wake with nothing to show for it and a total disregard for what we have been given and are unworthy to inherit the star’s.

Yes I do, but, I usually buy from Amazon. Until you get me a personal Transporter, I will stay home and shop. Besides, I hate to fool with my Handicapped Scooter.
Unfortunately profit comes first, along with comfort and happiness! We as humans need to know what is out there! that is what drives us, and could drive us to our own ruin if we are not careful! Wisdom is something that takes time and mankind is not very patient! instant gratification is our current curse! we only gain patients as we get older, some not at all. It is a no-win situation! mankind is destined to reach for the star’s, but it’s how we got there that counts! if we are worthy then we will leave this planet (Home) in good shape, if we are not worthy then we will all die here and leave our home in ruins, with nothing to mark that we were ever here in the first place. This planet maybe left here but unlivable by anyone! and others will come by and wonder what did they do to there home world! and we well be nothing but a footnote in galactic history! hopefully someone will leave a marker that says "This is what happens to a people that were not worthy to reach for the star’s" as a warning to others. If we cannot take care of our own home world, what makes anyone think we can take care of another planet! but that won’t stop some of us, the others will mow over the others to get the resources that are needed to live on another planet and move on and on and on! Humans are like a virus, we multiply with no thought if we can take care of what we have created! let others take care of them, or just let them die! and all we show is our unworthiness to reach for the star’s! common sense is not taught anymore! because we can create something does not mean we should! everything has repercussions! but when you take away personal responsibility nothing is learned and we all suffer. We have all watched many a scifi movie or read a book that talked about the once great human race! either we learn or we all die here, never realizing our hopes and dreams and the star’s stay out of our reach forever.

Large pieces 4×1
H=9.6mm
W=31.8mm
D=7.8mm
Slim top pieces
H=3.2mm
Using these figures, the build would be 7.8 x 31.8 x 73.6 which equates to approximately 1 x 4.08 x 9.44. Close enough for me!

I for one, will never except that my ancestors swung from a tree and ate there own feces! I was created in the image of an all knowing , all loving and all powerful God. Everywhere you look there is order! Space is a prim example, there we see order in all it’s glory! No Chaos! everything moves according to the laws of physics (as we understand some of it, still have a lone way to go) we set our clocks by the pulse of a dying star, "a pulsar" and of course a Cesium Atom’s Resonant Frequency to measure time and to cross check between the two, if there is no God, then we don’t need moral laws or any laws for that matter and just do what we want to do! Let "Festival" began!! and Landru step forward!

Well I am not an Animal! (I know Mark your not making that clam) I have yet to see any animal write music that would bring tears to a grown man, or words that could effect people so profoundly that we created several Nations that continue to live in peace to this day, or to see an animal cry over the death of a child or it’s parents! If anyone looks at the odds of this planet of ours being 90 million miles from our sun (any further and we would freeze or closer we would fry), tilted at 23 degrees (one or two degrees either way this planet would be almost uninhabitable), rotate slower (and we would float off the surface) any faster and we would all be a lot smaller, and the Moon being not that there at all! we would have massive tsunamis! or if it was further away we would have no tides, any closer! well we would not be here.
I think that is why we are having eye strain 🙂 and a very nice female form it is! got to love the female shape!!! nothing that would not put steam in a mans stride 🙂
p.s. I wear glasses and need a new prescription hehehehehe

There is a old joke that goes like this….
Sometime in the far future three scientists walked up to the thrown of God and said "God we don’t need you any more because we can create our own life!"….God said "Show Me"…One of the scientist’s bent down and started to grab a hand full of dirt and just then God spoke "Oh No you Don’t, Go Create Your Own Dirt!" 🙂
There have been debates, but they happened years ago (before TV) and none were recorded or even broadcast on radio, thou some were written down and printed in books, but none are in print today. The odds that all that we are, all the plant life, all the animal life, the air we breath and the water we drink was started from some rogue meteorite is to great to even calculate!
When my first son was born (man I’m old) and I held him the first time, I looked and counted all his fingers and toes, but I was so humbled to think that he came from just two microscopic cells, to grow into a living, breathing and thinking human being and now has a nine year old daughter of is own (well that is debatable…grandpa believes she is his LOL) and that all came from blind luck? I don’t think so!
It has always been harder to believe we were created by God and to continue to believe in that, then it is to believe we came from whale shit or some blind luck indecent that struck this planet in the far past.
Scott
I will just tell you the answer, it is……42!
Really what is the big deal about Creation or Evolution? I know where I came from (Mother’s Womb), I know how I was created (I don’t need to explain that), and I know why I was created (Mother wanted Children). What else is their to know? Really, where life, the universe and all that jazz, ain’t important in the day to day struggle to pay pills, and taxes, keeping a job, and where the next party will be. We are all created, born, grow up, get married (most), have kids (most) grow old (all) and die (no way out of that).

What I love is how for a show that only lasted a single season (thank you again for that FOX), is how the main title theme by Randy Edelman is now been incorporated into the music used by the Olympic Games along with his piece from ‘Dragonheart’, ‘To The Stars’.
Charles Darwin did indeed believe in God and states that fact at the end of his book! I have a second edition of his book from January 7th 1860 in my collection (know thy enemy), but if you try and point that fact out, all hell breaks lose!
I believe that when everything was created, it did not start silently! it did indeed start with a bang! Something as massive as a sun is, sure does not go out with a whimper either!

I was state-of-the-art (I told myself) on Friday, August 27, 1993, as I set up to video-record both new FOX TV shows. I had a T-160 videotape, meaning I could record at the SP speed (fastest speed, best picture) for more than the two hours that I would be recording. I would record the two one-hour shows directly, and then sit down with my second VCR and dub them to compilation tapes without commercials. Eventually I would have a tape with all the episodes in order., no commercials. As the box art for the plastic VHS case, I’d keep all the TV Guide listings, ads, etc.
The two shows that started the same night were "The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr" and "The X-Files."
I can tell you that the former holds a much higher place in my heart, character-wise and FUN-wise.
I still get a thrill when the wife watches the Olympics and they continue to use the Brisco County theme (by Randy Edelman) as background music sometimes (see post #224 too).

Wow. That book’s got to be worth something. I’m sure I’ll be hearing on a rainy day in your neck of the woods, "Kerrr-ching!"
The sun relative to the universe is miniscule. We’re aware of billions of stars in our galaxy alone. And currently only aware of billions of galaxies. Dark matter, which apparently makes up 90% of our universe means that there’s a great deal more stuff out there. And to paraphrase that ‘genius strategist’, Donald Rumsfeld, there are a lot of unknown unknowns too. There may or may not have been an explosion, but in space, no one can hear you blow up. I’m just paraphrasing my ass off tonight.

Cool, I used to do the editing/dubbing Video too. I would, when possible, do it on the fly live as it recorded the show. Got pretty good pausing and un-pausing at the commercial breaks. We’re such techno-geeks! It’s really cool having digital video capturing now, and makes the precise editing so easy.
I guess! I have not really checked into it, the book is in pretty good shape, believe it or not I found this book several years ago in a used book shop and bought it for $3.00 dollars (the owner had no idea what it was) and I did not tell her, her lose!
Most of us have no idea how big space really is! and it is very difficult to comprehend the size or even try and describe the distances between star’s to someone else! I even have a hard time fathoming all this without shorting out my brain!! One of the greatest wonders of the Universe is every time we think we have it figured out! something we never saw or heard of pops up and puts us back at square one! all most like a dog chasing it’s own tail! 🙂

I was a pause button user too. Old Sony deck with frame advance. Sweet.
I believe that when everything was created, it did not start silently! it did indeed start with a bang! Something as massive as a sun is, sure does not go out with a whimper either!

I saw the movie in the theater, and have the Special Edition DVD. If is from the Firefly UniVerse, I have seen it.

I would also recommend the Dark Horse comics that pickup after the events of ‘Serenity’. And also there is an episode of ‘Castle’ that the first few minutes have a spectacular reference to Firefly: here is the youtube link:

Yeah $3.00 Dollars!
It was printed by Geo. M. Hill Co. Chicago (went bankrupt in 1899), at the end of the Introduction "Historical Sketch" at the end of the page XIV it says "The first edition of this work was published on November 24, 1859 and the second edition January 7, 1860" the book is red in color, Hardcover book (the ones I have seen on line have a green cover and are printed in London) I assume this is the second edition printed in the USA, so is not as much as the London copy’s which go for $15,000.00 and up! so far I have only found information on the publisher, but nothing on the copy I have! for all I know this copy maybe worth $10.00 dollars!!!
Edit: I forgot to say it has a four leaf clover stamped in the middle of the cover to, along with little four leaf clovers on each corners! whatever that means…beside "Good Luck"?
It must be! but I was not as skilled as some of you 🙁 I still managed to get a few commercials in my tapes!

Yep, our first VCR was a rental-return VHS model. Retail price $1000, wife bought for $400 as birthday/Christmas. It had a wired remote that was *only* pause/unpause.
I call these old things "piano key" models because they had separate levered buttons that depressed like piano keys. When you set the time, you set the digital clock (no more than 24 hours in advance), turned the power OFF/TIMER, and then physically depressed the PLAY + RECORD buttons (like an old-time cassette recorder).

Do you have/heard all the radio series including "Life, the Universe and Everything", "So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish" and "Mostly Harmless"? These were produced by Dirk Maggs and reunite the original cast. They are also really good.

I watched a real classic Sci-Fi last night, Creature from the Black Lagoon. I did not remember, that it came out in 1954, so it 60 years old. The Creatures STILL looks real, even at 60. I saw it was originally in Polarized 3D. I saw 3 movies in the early 80’s in Polarized 3D, only Friday the 13th Part III was good 3D, and it was the ONLY redeeming quality about that movie.
What made the movies look good, were up to the projectionist having the projectors aligned just right. I have not watched the newer movies in 3D. Just don’t care for a headache.

A great movie for sure, even for being 60 years old!
I saw the House of wax in 3D once, and yeah it did give me a headache! The newer ones I have seen have not left me with any headaches, just sore nose and ears (I ware glass’s) so those newer 3D glass’s are hard for someone that does ware glass’s.

In fact we (humans) don’t see in 3D! so using 3D in movies is just another way of getting more money out of us…I’ll pass to.

"I’ve never seen anything like her. And ion propulsion at that. They could teach us a thing or two."
Mr. Scott, "Spock’s Brain"
You seem to be quite fond of this kind of propulsion, it seems! 🙂
Ion thruster – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ion_thruster)
An ion thruster is a form of electric propulsion used for spacecraft propulsion that creates thrust by accelerating ions. The term is strictly used to refer to gridded ion thrusters, but may often more loosely be applied to all electric propulsion systems that accelerate plasma, since plasma consists of ions. Ion thrusters are categorized by how they accelerate the ions, using either electrostatic or electromagnetic force. Electrostatic ion thrusters use the Coulomb force and accelerate the ions in the direction of the electric field. Electromagnetic ion thrusters use the Lorentz force to accelerate the ions. In either case, when an ion passes through an electrostatic grid engine, the potential difference of the electric field converts to the ion’s kinetic energy (in the reference frame of a spacecraft).
According to Edgar Choueiri ion thrusters have an input power spanning 1–7 kilowatts, exhaust velocity 20–50 kilometers per second, thrust 20–250 millinewtons and efficiency 60–80%.[1][2]
The Deep Space 1 spacecraft, powered by an ion thruster, changed velocity by 4.3 km/s while consuming less than 74 kilograms of xenon. The Dawn spacecraft has surpassed the record with 10 km/s.[1][2]
The applications of ion thrusters include control of the orientation and position of orbiting satellites (some satellites have dozens of low-power ion thrusters) and use as a main propulsion engine for low-mass robotic space vehicles (for example Deep Space 1 and Dawn).[1][2]
Ion thrusters are not the most prospective type of electrically powered spacecraft propulsion (although in practice they have worked out more than others).[2] Technical capabilities of the ion engine are limited by the space charge created by ions, that limits the density thrust (force per cross-sectional area of the engine) at a very small level.[2] Therefore ion thrusters create very small levels of thrust (for example thrust engine Deep Space 1 approximately equals the weight of one sheet of paper[2]) compared to conventional chemical rockets but achieve very high specific impulse, or propellant mass efficiencies, by accelerating their exhausts to very high speed. However, ion thrusters carry a fundamental price: the power imparted to the exhaust increases with the square of its velocity while the thrust increases only linearly. Normal chemical rockets, on the other hand, can provide very high thrust but are limited in total impulse by the small amount of energy that can be stored chemically in the propellants.[3] Given the practical weight of suitable power sources, the accelerations given by ion thrusters are frequently less than one thousandth of standard gravity. However, since they operate essentially as electric (or electrostatic) motors, a greater fraction of the input power is converted into kinetic exhaust power than in a chemical rocket. Chemical rockets operate as heat engines, hence Carnot’s theorem bounds their possible exhaust velocity.
Due to their relatively high power needs, given the specific power of power supplies, and the requirement of an environment void of other ionized particles, ion thrust propulsion is currently only practical in space.
"If I recall correctly" you mean …
BTW we own two HHRs, they just notified us the parts are in.

My question is, which causes the greater logistical challenge … What you have to feed the hamsters, or what comes out, AFTER you feed the hamsters?
I guess that’s why the wheel is made of mesh … it’s a pass-through wheel…

You seem to be quite fond of this kind of propulsion, it seems! 🙂
I don’t know what it is, but yeah your right! ion drive has always fascinated me 🙂

I was told by an ex-employee of the Golden Arches, that if you get a dry burger(or what ever it is), it was because they did not wet it down. I think that by the taste, it is in salt water.
Also, the take out from Space Station K-7, except the Tribble Burgers.
They have made some good ones for sure! The original Sci-Fi channel started that way and built up a very good standing, that is until Comcast (Universal) bought them out! lets hope The Asylum does not go the same way.
From what I understand the golden arches is the worlds largest beef buyer in the world! thou no one has ever said what beef they buy! whatever it is, is not normal beef that’s for sure! personally I like CJ’s (Carls Jr’s, or back East it is called Hardee’s) at lest there burgers have taste and are broiled, instead of the golden arches which is fired in it’s own fat.

I here their stickin’ them with steroids now, nothings safe anymore!
They have been doing that for years now! all meat products sold in the major stores today use steroids! the only way around that is buying your own calf and have it raised on a all natural farm, then having it butchered. Most city folk have no idea how to care and feed any animal (other then their own pets) today! I sure would love to see those that live in a major city today grow there own vegetables! none of them would know where to start LOL

As long as they get contracts, we will see their movies. They are surprised they lasted as long as they have.

Yeah I spent my summers (until I was 18) on my grand parents ranch, picking and turning grapes trays (Thompson seedless grapes, there known as Sun Maid Raisins) and shucking almonds (you use a long pole, grab a branch and shack it until all the almonds fall down to the ground…a very dirty job), feeding the horse’s, cows and chickens, and taking care of the garden. We had a small garden in our back yard as a kid, love my veggies 🙂
I have not seen much from them lately (with the exception of Sharknado 2) some repeats on the syfi channel, I just hope they don’t go away.
Sounds like it might be time for Starship Troops 4 "Attack of AZ Garden" 😉 or a big can of DDT 🙂

Those were hard working days, but, well worth it. I do miss working in the garden with my Mother.
I have bought many of The Asylum movies at Wally World, for $5. A lot of well known actors AKA down on their luck, needs a job.
Starship Troops 4 "Attack of AZ Garden" , I would rather watch the movie, not live it.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v218/lloyd2/thumbup.gif

I have been watching Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea the series. It still holds up almost 50 years later. The Seaview and Flying Sub are still my favorite subs. Since I like to play with editing music, I’m playing around with cutting the dialogue and a lot effects out to make suites from certain episodes. Nothing fancy, just for fun. Since the software will not work on double mono tracks AKA Stereo, I just pick at the tracks and more so, I find some easy to listen background music.

Your so right my friend! hard work but I enjoyed those days with my grand parents and mother too!
I always loved the first season of Voyage better then the rest, it was more drama and in b/w! if you ever what to share what you’ve made let me know I would like to hear what you got!
I’ll have to keep my eyes open for there stuff at my local wally world! I do love the movie (the first one anyway) I have the other two, not that good as the first one..but what the hell.

If it’s the fool’s paradise, sign me up! I miss those days of relaying on ones self, family and friends! and as you said "we know where it came from" and it is safer and heather for you!
Max I’m with you, I love canning your own things, there is nothing like grand moms and mothers canned goodies! there is nothing wrong with being poor, my parents did not have it very well either, but those were some of the best days in my life as a kid! 🙂 we did not have a lot either but we were richer then most others that had a hell of a lot more then we did…we had each other and I would not trade that for anything!
Scott
If we compare our self’s to those that live in third world banana republic’s, you will find out that we are far richer even if we were poor as kids! At lest we had a roof over our heads, food in our stomach’s and clothes on your back’s…We had it pretty good and still do today.
Salsa is natures way of cleaning out the body lol Unfortunately I can’t have salsa any more or anything spicy for that matter…acid reflux! but don’t let me stop you from having the sweats on my account 🙂

The same here! and my mother said the same thing 🙂 I ate anything as lone as it did not bite back! now I have paid for it! I did have a great time eating what I wanted…oh well! You got to love getting older….Not.

I already heard they are putting some fruits — watermelons e.g. — into forms as they grow so when they take on the shape, they are easier to pack and ship.

I take one Omeprazole 20mg a day, as long as I don’t eat anything spicy I don’t suffer from acid reflux! it sucks but it is better then waking up in the middle of the night with heartburn so bad, I could light half the city I live in. You should check with you doctor, acid reflux could be signs of heart problems? you don’t want that…trust me on that.

Not anymore then the rest of us! if you watched and loved the Grove Tube, Monty Python and the Holy Grail or Flesh Gordon your in good company Mark 🙂
This weekend I saw "Guardians of the Galaxy" (loved it by the way) and before the movie the theater showed some clips of films from the 80’s and they were going to re-release Monty Python back on the big screen again!!! My brother and I Can’t wait to see it again on the big screen 🙂
Scott
I sure fit in.
Scott, lucky you to go see movies in the theater. Gas cost ther and back, and the ticket cost, I can get the DVD, and watch it as many times as I want. Of course, I miss the big screen.
I am watching Gamera, the older movies. I’m am currently watching Gamera VS Gaos. My Mother like him, before I did. She corrupted me.:)

That you do 🙂
I don’t live that far from several multi-screen theaters, that helps, but don’t get me wrong my friend, we all have to live with in our budgets (unless you print your own money, like our government does) most of the movies I go see play at the $3.00 theater 1/2 a mile away from me. I watch quit a few old movies during my day and some times at night to! nothing like the old Toho movies, the old hammer films or TV shows…good thing I have an extra DVD player, in case I wear out the one I’m using now lol She did you good 🙂
Scott
As for movies on the big screen, I hope to get a projector for my DVD player, and use an old pull down screen used in schools, I found at a Thrift Store. Then I can pause it, go to bathroom, or get more popcorn, without missing the movie.

My brother has one of those projectors in his house, don’t forget surround sound! nothing like having your windows shack and the floor vibrate when Godzilla goes into action 🙂 the one thing I need at our age…the pause button! and bathroom breaks lol

Don’t get me wrong, he was a good actor, but every time I saw him in this movie, all I could think was his old TV show "Ironbutt"

Amanda…go away!
Thanks.
Your not welcomed here and you know it! by your words you have once again proven you are no lady in any shape or form! go and take your medication and go back into your drug induced dream world, where you are some one and others care about you!
