THANKS A LOT!
i asked james gunn on facebook if there will be a score release and he said yes there will be
To be honest, I’m surprised you haven’t started a request for it yet. You have a reputation for that
It’s like the Watchmen OST. Some good classics.
Some repeats that’s probably dirt cheap to recycle in every film or "public domain"-type licensed.
Can’t wait to hear the score.
well whats the point its not out yet, i’ll do it near the release lol 😉
All the tracks have very different tags.
Different genres, different comments and even two of them have the same errors when using Foobar’s "Verify Integrity".
I downloaded twice and got the same errors on the same two tracks.

I just re-configured my internet yesterday but saw all the tags on the tracks.
Some of the tags have websites embedded still.
EDIT: Plus half of them have ReplayGain tags embedded (Which is nice).
And some of them are encoded using very different software and libraries of FLAC.
Is there a prize? Oh please let it be an awesome remix of "Hooked on a Feeling" using the actual song remixed with the audio stem from Hack3rman.
That would be just swell.
That would be just swell.
What do you mean, like the stem and the original track mixed together? Or the stem version in full?
And who here (that lives in ‘MURICA) is going to the 17-minute preview tonight? I am. I know absolutely nothing about this film except that it’s next in the MCU, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or shoot me a PM after tonight, so as not to spoil anything
This one.
Are you not capable of doing that? Because I am, I guess. I’ll take a look at it after I’ve tweaked the audio of the trailer 2 stem. I hate how the track dips down and then goes back up when there’s dialogue, but I guess you gotta hear what the characters are saying.
I just got back from the preview and it was awesome!!!! Anyone who wants to know anything, feel free to ask 🙂
Awesome is the word. Just got home from the preview. Gunn, pardon the pun, hit what he was aiming at. The preview, which focused on the GOTG’s prison break, hit every dramatic and comedic note just right. The actors are their characters (Groot and Rocket are scene stealers but everyone brought their A game.) and the IMAX conversion – I usually avoid up converts because they are generally crap – popped off the screen. I will see the film in IMAX. Even Bates’ score worked. Maybe he was inspired.
August 1st can’t get here quickly enough.
What was the score like?
———- Post added at 05:55 PM ———- Previous post was at 05:38 PM ———-
I’m not a big fan of IMAX. It’s miles away from me .
I’d be all game for seeing movies upconverted to IMAX.
The technology has come a long way so it won’t be amateurish.
What was the score like?
i’m curious about that too!! 😀
GOD DAMNIT! I wanted to go so bad, but there was no theater close to me that was showing it, and I have a IMAX theater 5 miles from me! Which is odd, considering that Disney did this same thing for TRON: Legacy 4 years ago, and they played that at the theater I just mentioned… which I managed to make!
So what was it like?! I NEED to know! 😛
BTW, I’ve got a feeling this film (and soundtrack/score) will be epic! If this film is anything like the comics, then I will be fucking ecstatic!

Ya my theatre was laughing at all the right parts, as was I. How many times did Groot say "I’m Groot"? Haha. I’m glad you can tell Zoe Saldana is Gamora (unlike Avatar, where you really have to focus to realize it’s her), and Rocket and Groot really were great together. Funny, too. I knew he was up to something when he pulled the alarm. And settle down, August can take it’s damn time. I wanna enjoy a long summer lol.
What was the score like?
Surprisingly good for Tyler Bates. I really only like his horror stuff (Devil’s Rejects, Dawn of the Dead, Halloween I and II), but this was a different Tyler Bates than the one I know. I sat there specifically thinking to myself "try and focus on the score and what you can compare it to, cause everyone on the shrine is gonna want to know", and I finally came to the conclusion that it has a slight Giacchino Star Trek vibe to it. The main theme is really good, I’m looking forward to the release.

My local IMAX theatre (where I saw the preview) is a fake one. There’s a list of legit theatres and what’s called liemax, and mine is fake. There’s one that’s 2 hours away from me in a ginormous shopping mall, I go there about twice a year for IMAX movies, and I choose them carefully (that, or whenever I feel like it / have the time and money). TDK was my first movie there, and my first IMAX film as well. After that was Eagle Eye, Star Trek, Avatar, Alice in Wonderland, Oblivion, Star Trek Into Darkness and Transcendence. Next I will be going to see AoE. I don’t do 3D-converted movies (with the exception of Alice and STID, because they were in IMAX), and I don’t do IMAX up-converted either. Waste of my money. I want a movie that was filmed in 70mm IMAX and projected onto a 15/70 screen.
Here’s that list. If your local IMAX isn’t on there, then IT’S A LIE!!!!
Q&A: How Do I Know If My IMAX Theatre is Real 70mm IMAX or lieMAX (Digital IMAX)? – Page 2 of 2 – /Film (http://www.slashfilm.com/qa-imax-theatre-real-imax-liemax/2/)

Well, now we’re even. I was on my way to TRON: Legacy when my Dodge Intrepid broke down and that was that. It died that night, I had to call AAA so I obviously didn’t make it. I was so fucking pissed. Not about the car, I was more pissed on missing Legacy haha.
So what was it like?! I NEED to know! 😛
It was great. 17 minutes came and went. James Gunn introduced the preview (he does not look like what I was expecting, I was a little surprised) and then it just up and started. They were all cuffed and in processing for the prison. Then it was basically their escape, then that scene ended (and some guy down in the middle let out a long "Nooooooooo!!" and we all laughed at him), the new animated Marvel logo came up and then it was basically an alternate extended trailer / montage with Cherry Bomb playing (it’s actually what plays when Groot presses play on the boombox), and then a scene with Quill and Rocket arguing about having a plan, Quill mocking Rocket from the scene earlier when they escape because his "plan" failed.
BTW, I’ve got a feeling this film (and soundtrack/score) will be epic! If this film is anything like the comics, then I will be fucking ecstatic!
I’m very happy with the OST selection. What annoyed me is that I have 2/3 of it already in my collection, but none of it is in FLAC. So I scoured the internet yesterday and compiled this to kinda hold us off for the physical OST. The score as I mentioned above is was actually really good, and I’m excited for it. I was really bummed when it was announced Tyler Bates was writing the score, but I like what I heard 😀
And thanks for the stems, I just finished tweaking trailer 2. Spirit in the Sky has been one of my favorite songs for years, and I love that it’s not only in the film, but used in the trailer as well.
Ooga-Chaka Ooga-Ooga Ooga-Chaka*
I mean,, I watch movies in 60 interpolated frames per second (23.976 -> 59.94).
And with the Pulfrich Effect (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulfrich_effect) (pseudo-3D; I even have a few pairs of "Pulfich 3D glasses" just for giong to movies if the movie isn’t 3D already :smrt:)
Here’s what that site said about my location: (from comments about 3 years back)
I live in Vancouver and the only two IMAX screens near me are Colossus in Langley and Silvercity in Richmond. They seem pretty legit but does anyone have a definitive answer? They don’t show up on that map.
Check the Google Earth map linked here: http://www.lfexaminer.com/Imax…
Seems to be a bit more comprehensive.
Awesome, thank you! Turns out they are both ST 1570. Kind of weird how Vancouver Metro has two real IMAX theatres and other cities don’t have any.
Both Silvercity and Colossus are 15/70…for now (conversion to digital will happen in the spring). There’s also the OMNIMAX at Telus World of Science which is 70mm, but they only play documentaries.
Whatever that means. Good on us. now to just get out there to watch a real IMAX film (or thereof).
I live right beside a theater that has: UltraAVX, Dolby Atmos, Dolby 3D, and now D-Box motion seats.
IMAX is a low priority for me since it costs an arm and leg (to get there, to get in, to get back…).

But, GOTG is in no danger of failing. I think it’ll be judged on whether it surpasses Avengers or CAP:TWS. I was surprised, pleasantly, when Marvel announced it was bringing GOTG to the screen. And I was really surprised when James Gunn got the gig. He was perfect for the film but his movies are outside the mainstream taste. So, a round of applause for Marvel. (BTW, Bautista surprised me, the man can bring the funny.)
Now, we need another "Awesome Mix Tape." (Damn if "Cherry Bomb" wasn’t a perfect fit for the end trailer.) And a listen to Bates’ score.
I caught that Bautista had a slight accent, but couldn’t make out what it was. He spoke so little.
I’m also down for Awesome Mix Vol. 2

I have yet to see a college course on being a critic! (Critic 101) All critics are nothing but reporters that can not write the news. I stopped listening to critics when they said Star Wars was a crappy movie.
Scott
Amen to that. I stopped when critics said Alien was just another horror movie. Talk about not getting "it." My contention is when it comes to science fiction unless the movie is preceded by the names Spielberg or Lucas (to a much lesser degree today than 20 years ago) no one pays any attention to the film. The same way animated films must have Disney or Pixar before the title or the public ignores them. (Look what relatively poor business Miyazaki’s final film The Wind Rises did at the box office.)
I always respected the now deceased movie critic Joel Siegel. He was the only one who recognized Blade Runner for the landmark film it is.
He’s come a long way since Tromeo & Juliet.
It was announced some time back in 2013 it would be Bates, I don’t know where you’re getting Stephen Price from. Although I think he’d be a good fit. But from what I heard of Bates’ score in the preview Monday night, it was good. I mentioned above it has a slight Giacchino Star Trek vibe to it.
ahdvd was probably thinking of Ant Man, sweet love the Giacchino Star Trek Music, can’t wait to hear the twist that tyler bates does for the score!!! 😀
Well take this with a grain of salt. Keep in mind that it was only 17 minutes, I was trying to focus not only on the score, but what was happening, the 3D, the IMAX ratio, and overall just trying to have fun. But from what I can remember, that’s what I’ll compare it to. It sounded orchestral, not synthy which I know a lot of people will be happy about
so Tyler Bates took a different approach on the score, making it all orchestral, and not like his normal scores, with electric guitars, drums, etc? i’m sure he used some choir in the score too, hopefully cuz i love his scores that uses choir!! 😀
Just because he took a different approach then usual, doesnt mean there won’t still be elements of his usual style. I’m sure his style will come through on certain cues.
BTW, love your Ronan the Accuser avatar!
BTW, love your Ronan the Accuser avatar!
**about my avatar** I Know Right! pretty badass!! got it from the recent GOTG extended trailer
yeah but his usual style is pretty badass, i’m sure it’ll be used in some fight scenes, Maybe.
well, that cover art is the Deluxe Edition Soundtrack, i just forgot to add **Deluxe Edition**
Yeah, and I think the "Awesome Mix Vol. 2" are the new/missing songs on the deluxe release. I hope so.
Like DAK, I focused largely on what was happening on screen: shot composition, choreography of the action (no shaky cam!) and set design. (The interior of the Kyln looks great.) One aspect that got my attention were the colors Gunn used, they really popped out, in a good way.)
As for the score, what I heard, sounded orchestral, fully formed and perhaps, just perhaps, on the John Williams side of scoring. (But that could be me projecting. Gunn has said how much Star Wars and Raiders are some of his favorite films.)
This summer has lacked a truly-rousing-go-for-broke-hell-bent-for-leather-let-the-bells-rings-and-banners-fly-here-we-come-to-save-the-day spectacle and perhaps GOTG will be that film.
Yes, I can read the "Deluxe". I’m saying I think that that one is the combination of score and OST. It wouldn’t say Songs from the Motion Picture and then Score by Tyler Bates underneath it, as those two contradict each other. I can’t remember where I heard (at least I think I heard) that there was going to be an OST/Score combo. For all I know, I could have dreamt it.

You say Williams, I say Giacchino. Both are orchestral, so I think we’re on the same page. I’m getting really excited for the score, as I’ve never been a big Bates fan. Really only his Rob Zombie material. I’m well known for being a huge RCP fanboy, but I do have my orchestral favorites: Lawrence of Arabia, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Children of Dune, The Avengers.
Yup Basiclly.
‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ Deluxe, Mix Soundtracks Details Announced | Stitch Kingdom (http://www.stitchkingdom.com/disney-guardians-of-the-galaxy-soundtracks-71653/#)
And this is exactly what was at the end of Monday night’s preview, shot for shot
I’ll post it when I get it 😀
Easier said than done, the drums in the trailer are significantly faster than the original song, and even the isolated stem has FX going most of the time anyway. It’s easy enough to increase the song’s tempo without changing the pitch, but then you run the risk of stuttering the audio.
That said, I put together a version of Hooked on a Feeling that contains a few elements from the trailer & uses the drum sequence as an intro. If anyone wants to get more elaborate than that, I look forward to hearing it.

Boss! I’ll definitely check this out. I’d die if you could pull off the same thing with Spirit in the Sky 😀
The trailers are so damn good.
When studios want to release "remix" CD singles, they should do epic proportions like this and not some dubstep crap.
Remember when Nine Inch Nail’s "The Day The World Went Away" was remixed heavily with percussion for the Terminator Salvation trailer?
That’s what people really want.
:happycroc::happycroc::happycroc:
i just LOVE that segway from the trailer to the actual song. ahahaha absolutely stunning mix! 😀
Plus the extra bits you put in there! I won’t spoil. 🙂
This is just great and going to get overplayed way more the Inception bwaaaam!

And of course thanks for the soundtrack, great post!
Infortunately in France we have to wait two more weeks than the U.S to discover the movie… 🙁 It’s gonna be VERY long…
Thanks!

The intro is the original song with the voice stems added, up until Rocket’s "Oh… yyyyeah" and there I chose to run both the original song and the trailer music together to get the added drums & cover up the audio dropouts. I’m sure there’s a few overblown parts though, and I’m not totally happy with the transition to just the original song. I’ll tweak it further once the CD’s out.

Argh damnit! Thanks so much for doing this. I’ve been working on my own edit for like 2 hours now lol. I’m not gonna read your description or listen to it (won’t even download) until mine is done. Thanks for doing this, can’t wait to hear your take 🙂

I’m glad you think so… Now that I look back on it, I think the logo should be bigger. Plus I now have a high-resolution version of logo, so it would look better. The last one is how I imagine the vinyl release will look like!

Sergio Leone (Fistful of Dollars, Few Dollars More, Good, Bad, Ugly) and composer Morricone worked the same way. Morricone composed the music before the film began and later Leone would play it back on set to help set the scene. Worked for Leone, hopefully will work for Gunn.

They did this same thing with the TRON: Legacy Sneak Peak. A Couple of weeks after the event, they released edited versions of the clips we saw in the theater, online.
Also, is it just me, or does Zoe Saldana still look sexy with green skin?!

you think it would be possible to rip the music?
makes sense since its next tuesday its released
I think it is not necessary, because as Electra said, it is released next tuesday, and quite friendly 😀 i am not good ripper 😀 i would download the whole video, then make it to shitty mp3 and upload it 😀 we just have to wait a while 🙂 i think it will be Bates best score
The track aint that HQ, but it sounds nice!! Will probably get it’s load of haters, as usual with modern action scores, but I fucking love it!!!
(Sorry for the swear)

well i doubt that cuz it said expected release July 29th, next tuesday, so i probably wouldn’t count on it, or get hopes up.
ah, sorry misunderstood lol

No, I think you misunderstood. What I’m saying is that I got $100 on someone buying it off iTunes and posting it here, by tonight the latest. I’m betting that. In regards to me posting in lossless, July 29th is 6 days away, I’ll post it Tuesday night (the latest)
How could someone buy it? It’s for pre-order expected the same day as your physical CD.
Because what’s-his-name didn’t specify. He simply bloated "IT’S ON ITUNES!!!!" and I took that as "it’s for sale on iTunes", not a preorder. I was at work and I wasn’t about to view the score on iTunes on my damn phone.
Going IMAX 3D with GOTG. How about you?
P.S. (That particular IMAX theater also makes a really good latte.)
Hate you.
dafuq where did you get this info from
The Score is On ITUNES!!!!!

He later went back and edited his post stating it’s a preorder. If you read my post at the top of this page you will learn what went on

GOOD NEWS!!!! Previews of the score are on Googleplay!!!

And Marvel has already signed Gunn up for a sequel 🙂
I’ve never been a huge Bates fan (basically his material for Rob Zombie’s films only), but going by the score samples and what others have said about it, I think this is the Tyler Bates I have been waiting for.

I’d say you won’t be disappointed this time.
BOSS
5 days? I don’t want to be the bringer of bad news but The movie will only be released in France on august 13…
Which is one of 5 (was it 5?) recently announced, yet not titled releases by Marvel
Yeah, was just announced that Gunn will write and direct as well!
I wrote ”tomorrow or on the 29th” in hope, that it will be up tomorrow. I know that tomorrow is the 28th 😉
Yes, in some whack bitrate that’s apparently from iTunes. I’ll be posting it in lossless tomorrow
Personally I hope one of the untitled is either a Black Widow or Captain (Ms.) Marvel film. If nothing else Lucy showed Johansson can put asses in seats. So who would you want for Captain Marvel? Some suggestions: Katee Sackhoff, Paula Patton, Genesis Rodriguez.
You’re going to have to tell me who Captain Marvel is, first. Keep in mind I had no idea who the Guardian of the Galaxy were before this film was announced 2 years ago
what’s whack about it? I’ve not bothered since you’re going to be releasing FLAC soon. 🙂
Whack that it’s not straight 256k. But it don’t matter. FLAC arriving shortly 😀
The bitrare on iTunes Plus does vary, but it averages around 256k in general. Some albums I’ve bought from iTunes have (slightly) different bitrates. One track would be 236, the next 278. But I’ve never seen an album vary as much as the recent post.
But I will download your FLAC link A.S.A.P!
Shouldn’t matter. I believe iTunes AAC sales are VBR. "256" is just a "common" designation for a scale.
Mostly appropriated to CBR encodes and for the sake of just displaying an arbitrary bitrate mode.
I find that encoding to AAC with lossless sources and using highest quality settings for AAC encoding ("-V127 -q 2 -r keep"), the bitrates usually drop below 256.
But it’s still high quality because the settings operated in higher accuracy and AAC is more advanced than MP3 so a 210-256~ AAC encode is better quality than 210-256~ MP3 (even with the highest settings in MP3 encoding; without going outside of spec).
224 is usually the average for a high encode of AAC, rarely hitting >256.

I actually just remembered something: complicated and technical. :p
One track would be 236, the next 278. But I’ve never seen an album vary as much as the recent post.
I think it has more or less to do with iTunes updating it’s interface (in the past year) or encoding process (server side*1).
It’s displaying the actual bitrates more accurately.
I think before (in previous years) it just decided to round to nearest "common bitrate steps". (etc, 192, 224, 246, 320).
If you use QAAC to encode to AAC, (command-line tool, but GUI’s are available) you’ll see that it always encodes to different bitrates.
Not the normal bitrate steps that lazy software uses.
QAAC can use the same encoding library as iTunes (just use 7-zip to extract the required DLL’s) for high-quality AAC encodes.
It has for a long time and had shown actual bitrates long before iTunes showed it properly.
I remember when I first started using QAAC, I noticed the real avg. bitrates. It had been discussed
*1: server side.
How people over at iTunes encode their audio for sales may have been different than how we do it at home.
I remember reading on the HydrogenAudio forums (popular place to go for QAAC support) that people saw this same phenomenon: iTunes sales showed CBR-like bitrates (256), even when played live.
QAAC encoded files of the same libary DLL’s would show actual bitrates, like they’re supposed to.
I didn’t dive too much into it, but I believe whatever Apple devs were doing to encode their AAC sales, managed to get every software to read it as a common bitrate step rather than it’s actual true AAC bitrate qualities (be it 236, 278, or 221 etc).
Summary!
1) iTunes used to hack their containers (m4a) to show a typical bitrate step (256) rather than real avg. bitrate. (since they were all VBR encoded)
2) iTunes just changed their whole encoding process and now show proper bitrates. Probably due to complaints from technical enthusiasts and to keep up with times.
3) rest assured, even if it’s less than 256, it’s still high quality. And all your old sales "showing" 256, it’s probably really the same as new sales encodes.
4) don’t let OCD steer you in the wrong direction.
5) Can’t wait for FLAC release. :awsm:
Like you? 😉
:awsm:
Can you upload a sample for me? one track should do.
I want to know why everyone’s seeing different bitrates.

From one of the other downloads, using MediaInfo (http://anonym.to/?http://www.videohelp.com/tools/MediaInfo)…
Bit rate : 272 Kbps
Nominal bit rate : 256 Kbps
Maximum bit rate : 307 Kbps
It depends what software you use to view things.
I did mention "lazy software" earlier. :p
"Nominal" is what most software will show.
Foobar2000 also shows "bit rate" rather than "nominal". 272.
It doesn’t look like iTunes has changed afterall.
😡 Not going to see this.
Honest and for true? Or are you just fibbing?

To be honest, I didn’t plan on it. I just came across it when I was Googling a smaller size for the score cover, I didn’t wanna overpower the Deluxe cover. I saw it and thought, "What the hell? I’ll creatively work this into my thread :D"
Well, this is how it usually goes. The Score/OST are released on Tuesday, the film is released 3 days later on Friday (Thursday now, with 8-10PM screenings. Thursday night is the new Friday midnight).
And for the record, I feel all soundtracks from now on should be sold like this. A Deluxe Edition consisting of 2 discs, with the score on one and OST on the other. Marvel, ya done good with this one
And for those looking for MP3…
<a href=”http://imgur.com/ndKHXZh”>

I know i know. I’m not obsessive enough about lossless. 🙁 But honestly mp3 is what works best for me because of hard drive size. If I kept everything is lossless I’d be having to delete stuff instead of downloading more. I try to keep most things at 320kbps. A nice balance (for me) between saving space and quality. My favorite scores I do keep in lossless though. 🙂
I hear ya. A few years ago, I used to be the same way. I would only take MP3 over lossless for a.) my iPod, and b.) space. But I have 2 external drives, one of which is 3TB. I figured I should start saving lossless because you can always just down-convert. There is no up-converting (well, some people on here do that and only God knows why, but let’s just leave that to them). There have been times when I wanted to make a suite for something and it’s always good to have the lossless material for this exact reason. I wish I made my Breaking Bad Heisenberg Suite in lossless, but I didn’t have all the material in that quality so I was screwed with 256k. Anyway, at least you keep your favorite scores in lossless. Points from me.
AIFF format.
Basically WAV but designed for MAC users. (and iTunes)
It’s handy for anyone who wants to convert to APE with their own software that doesn’t like FLAC.
And the same for anyone who wants to convert to FLAC that doesn’t like… umm….
3TB??? NICE! I’ll bet that cost you a nice little sum. 😀

I’ve had similar things happen. Last year I finally realized that some scores I had downloaded years ago (before I fully understood quality) were in LQ. Had to go and find them again in 320. 🙂

I have the really really old Godzilla La-La Land release in like the lowest quality I have ever seen. It’s the expanded set, so it’s pretty hefty. I forget what the bitrate of each track is, but the whole thing is about 60MB lol

It’s not all music mind you. About just over a 1TB worth of music. Lossless (mostly), lossy (some) and other formats.
I haven’t allocated it to one spot yet. They’re all so scattered and I hate trying to organize everything. 🙁 I can never keep up…
I’ve been hearing the same thing. I listened to a few tracks so far, and it isn’t bad. It takes me a few times to really get to know something and have it grow on me.
Let’s not forget… F-O-N-T-S
Good point. In a nutshell she’s the equivalent to DC’s Captain Marvel, but unlike DC’s Captain whose powers are magic based, the powers of Marvel’s Captain are science based. For the rest I turn you over to the loving hands of the Wiki.

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) Deluxe Edition Soundtrack / Score 2CD
Composed by: Tyler Bates & VA
Yes, you did. I might scoop these up at some point, but for now I felt obliged to chuckle at the following:
<a href=”http://imgur.com/ndKHXZh”>
It might seem strange that aliens would know about a distinctly Terran obscene gesture – to the point where the video software in use can detect when it’s imminent, but when you consider all the ‘cultural SIGINT’ that’s been making its way into the stars therefrom since the invention of broadcast TV… no, not so implausible.

This movie features a talking, trigger happy raccoon, a giant talking tree, a green-skinned assassin, a blue-skinned assassin, a bad guy with a smaller version of Thor’s hammer, an alien who dresses like a seventies disco reject and a grape colored, death obsessed Titan so the notion that aliens would understand the gesture of the single digit salute, a.k.a. "the finger" isn’t so strange.
Quite so. I repeat, it might seem strange, but makes sense if you think about it a bit.
And who here (that lives in ‘MURICA) is going to the 17-minute preview tonight? I am. I know absolutely nothing about this film except that it’s next in the MCU, so if anyone has any questions, feel free to ask here or shoot me a PM after tonight, so as not to spoil anything
I just saw the film. I think you’ll enjoy it. It brings the fun back into comic book films.
I agree. The thought of aliens watching episodes of "Seinfeld," "Big Bang Theory" or "X-Files" makes me smile. (The downside is if they catch episodes of "Dads" or "The Bachelorette" or any number of other dumb-as-dirt shows they might decide to annihilate us for the good of the cosmos.)
Take my advice, boy. Don’t mess with DAK, you’ve been warned!!
Damn fuckin right, don’t mess with me. But it’s been merged and he gets no credit for it, so fuck ’em.
His is labeled FLAC, I’m tempted to download it and see if it’s actually FLAC or my AIFF rip in 1411k
The file size is half of yours, so it’s FLAC indeed.
1411 is just a constant bitrate, but the true effective bit rate is what’s found in the FLAC encode.
The difference between the FLAC bit rate and the AIFF bit rate is that the data after the effective bit rates is all mostly zerofilled and wasted space.
Unfortunately, about half the tracks (spread over both discs,) are corrupt.
Might be my fault, but thought you should know.

Don’t know what to tell you, sorry. It was a bitch uploading both discs. But…..
1) Check if your software is updated (WinRAR, WinZIP, 7-zip).
2a) Run "SpeedGuide’s TCP Optimizer (http://anonym.to/?http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php)"
2b) (top) "onnection speed", choose whatever (download) speed is promised by your ISP (25, 50, 100 are popular intervals)
2c) (in the middle) "Network Adapter Selection", choose your network card (be it internal or wireless card)
2d) (bottom) "Choose settings", choose "Default"
2e) "Apply" and reset your PC and then try again.
3) HARD reset your modem/router. A) Turn the PC off. B) Unplug the PC. C) unplug the modem/router. D) wait 5 whole minutes. E) plug modem/router in. F) plug PC in, turn and try again.
4) Download Topy’s FLAC. It will be the same (quality, etc; names, tags, covers may differ, etc etc).
5) Hail Hydra.
Thanks for posting this here.
Pure entertainment. 🙂
Oh, and: The music, both the score and the soundtrack, suited really well for this movie! The soundtrack may have songs from the 70s and the 80s, but the lyrics are kinda eternal. :p
From the score I especially got goosebumps by "The Ballad of the Nova Corps", so emotionally powerful! And also "Groot Spores". 🙂
Thanks for the links!

The movie rules, BTW-
The movie rules, BTW-
I’d like someone to tackle that along with the OST as well. I know it’s 10cc’s I’m Not in Love, then Bates’ To the Stars, then Brian Tyler’s new Marvel theme, then Redbone’s Come and Get Your Love. After that, I would say it’s Plasma Ball and Quill’s Big Retreat
Actually, I’d love a film order of everything. OST / Score combined
BTW, GOTG opened to $94 million, biggest box office ever for an August film and some projections have it earning $300 million during its run in the theaters, which would top this year’s CA:TWS.
My top three Marvel films:
3: Avengers
2: GOTG
1: CA:TWS
I saw that Variety article earlier, but I’m waiting until tomorrow night when all estimates are in and they announce the total. It’s coming awfully close to $100 mil, which Paramount claims T4 grossed opening weekend. However, there were reports that those numbers were falsified by Paramount and that it was not possible. So if that’s true and this does cross the $100 mil mark, it’ll be the first film of 2014 to do so.
We could have had iso for Tron: Legacy with Trapanese, but Daft Punk said no. 🙁
Thank god for the complete stuff we got, we don’t need to support DP anymore. :smrt:
I think Indie composers would likely have way more flexibility to create iso scores.
John Carpenter likes to have them, with the exception of "Prince of Darkness", IIRC.

It wasn’t, which totally fucking sucked. It’s very rare when a commercial song is used in a film’s trailer and is not in the actual film, yet ends up on the OST.
Unless it is like one of those Music Inspired by the Film shit compilations, not saying Great Gatsby had anything like that, (but it seems a lot of romance movies have an Inspired by soundtrack)…..but Filter’s cover of Happy Together ended up not being in the film The Great Gatsby.
(Spirit In the Sky)
Filter’s cover of Happy Together ended up not being in the film.

Hmmm… I’m sensing they’re sensing what the fans are feeling for trailers.
It’s a good trend.
Trend$ are good. I love trend$.

That’s how you use spoilers. :smrt:
or you can do them this way also. :smrt:
no idea what this does though…

But I don’t need to see the movie anymore. :smrt:

About baby Groot dancing right before the credits roll, James Gunn says that was his idea and that it was also in the script. "Litte spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me," the director revealed. "I’m not motion-captured, but I’m motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing… Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like ‘We don’t want people walking out and missing this this,’ so we put it right there after the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return’ thing."

Interesting how two of Marvel’s best films Avengers and GOTG were done by guys who started their careers in movies as writers for the screen. It all starts with words because if it ain’t on the page, it ain’t on the stage.
If said falsification did indeed occur, it’d be a very boneheaded move on Paramount’s part. One, it would make all their future claims less credible (that old story about the boy who cried wolf is an old story a reason); and two, using those figures for business purposes opens them up to a variety of charges… So you have to wonder, who there would think it’s a good idea?
On another note… that’s a good way of putting it, Killgrave. The very last sentence is quite T-shirt/.sig/etc.-worthy.
Yeah, I was really depressed we didn’t get to see green tits in the film. 🙁
And how disappointing is it that they haven’t made a "Guardians of the Galaxy: XXX Parody" yet?
Oh, I also want to give out a huge FUCK YOU to A Fire Will Rise for ruining that cameo for me at the end of the film.
I know what you mean. I was reading a history of the American Civil War and my buddy Jason spoiled it by telling me the North won.
Wasn’t the point.
Your argument is way off base on that one.
It would be apt if you said that in a thread about Star Wars and Darth Vader being
Luke’s father.
aka, "A New Hope" being an ancient movie compared to GoTG…
see where I’m going with this?
I bet if I stick around this thread long enough, I wouldn’t need to see the movie and/or support it in any fashion.
I notice spoilers are no big thing. To the ones who already saw it.
The heightened self-gratification of seeing it before everyone else, and also knowing that your peers that you respect a lot whom have also seen the film, really just does turn this place into a good ol’ fashioned internet place.
I just had someone swear at me for teaching them how to use spoilers.
This particular thread is sounding more and more like a gaming community.
I’ve had my fair share of gaming communities that are actually relentless, blood-thirsty monsters.
Just because you watched, doesn’t mean everyone else has.
Nor does it mean that those who have not watched is any less important.
Granted that the track names are spoilery, doesn’t mean every single detail about the movie needs to be spoilered.
That’s what social sites are for.
Yes, this is a social site. But it wouldn’t kill someone to put something like that in a spoiler tag. It’s a damn Marvel movie. No one wants to know, everyone wants to go in surprised. Now I didn’t care that I saw that spoiler before I saw the film on Saturday, because 1.) I thought it was the stupidest post-credits scene yet, and 2.) I had no clue what it was. But clearly other people knew of it, and they were not happy. Notice how I put spoiler tags around the shots I noticed were absent from the film after seeing the trailers? I didn’t want to ruin it for anyone. But whatever, I think by now either most people in this thread have either seen the film or the spoiler.
Many thanks
Many thanks
P.S. oh! almost forgot! Thanks for the share!
ETA: This album seems much more popular than the usual obscure OSTs we have around these boards and so GOTG is easily found as a torrent, and with 500+ peers it downloads a hell of a lot faster than a hosted file too!
Where is the closing credits track though?
Like most releases, not present. I plan on ripping it when a high quality version of the movie surfaces
It seems to just be an edit of ‘Kyln Escape’, ‘Ballad of Nova Corps’, ‘Groot Spores’ (pretty sure), ‘Sacrifice’, and ‘Black Tears’
Created a rough version of the end credits from the soundtrack album based on memory and what uminoken offered from his recollection. MP3 file.
I have to listen to Hooked on a feeling again xD
I’m Not in Love
Come and Get Your Love
Go All the Way
Hooked on A Feeling
Moonage Daydream
Escape
Fooled Around and Fell in Love
Cherry Bomb
O-o-h Child
Ain’t No Mountain High Enough
I Want You Back
You need to add Brian Tyler’s "Marvel Studios Fanfare" (from Thor The Dark World soundtrack) at #3.
Thanks to FSM.

No no, I was talking about the songs, not the score. Thanks for the chronological order of the score, though
And for everyone else anticipating the next release of GotG, here’s a little tease. Listen closely 😉

Thanks for everything else, DUDE!!! 😀
Thanks for everything else, DUDE!!! 😀
Trust me, it’s not. I would know. Spirit in the Sky always has been, and always will be one of my favorite songs ever. I saw GotG twice, it’s simply not in the film. A huge let-down, I know. It is what it is. But like TheSkeletonMan said, it was in the final theatrical trailer.
ALSO: I thought that I saw somewhere on this board the "Awesome mix, vol 2" that someone had compiled, but I’ll be damned if I can find it anywhere!!! Anybody know?
O-o-h Child – The Milano crashes and Quill starts dancing/singing it in front of Ronan to distract him
I Want You Back – The Guardians of the Galaxy take off in The Milano / baby Groot dances with Drax watching in suspicion

Player, damn good choice. Perfect. Had Suzi Quatro on my list but went with Joan. (Interviewed her. True rock and rock personality. Nothing boring about her. BTW, she’s left handed.)
And it looks like the GOTG Blu-ray hits the shelves in December. I hope Disney/Marvel crafts one hell of a deluxe package for this one. Either way I’m putting in my pre-order as soon as it pops on Amazon. (I want a dancing Groot as part of a deluxe package.)
One more song for the playlist:
ELO – Twilight

Ya because you had Joan and The Runways are on the OST, I figured I’d add Suzi Quatro. I almost had ELO – Fire on High
LOL IF it gets a sequel? It opens on July 28th, 2017.
Mondo has a special vinyl edition of the soundtrack ready for pre-order here:
Guardians of the Galaxy LP (Pre-Order) ? Mondo (http://mondotees.com/collections/music/products/guardians-of-the-galaxy-pre-order)
#yourewelcome 😉
I know, right? I ordered two of the bad boys 🙂
And to my knowledge, the Mondo version is the only vinyl version which is pressed on 180gram, unlike the other ones.
And, I can say with confidence, there will never be a volume 2 (at least, until the second film comes out).
It’s a storyline spoiler and also "vol 1" for the naming convention of the variable artists soundtrack album is largely a sales tactic.
People would buy it if it was heavily more relatable to the film.
Just calling it "music from and inspired" by isn’t nearly as inspiring as going by a title that’s seen in through the film.
Also buying a cassette version is also a neat marketing ploy.
Speaking of marketing ploys, incentives and gimmicks, not surprised the IMAX version is availably only in 3D BD.
Buy it so you can be like Quill, pretend it’s a movie prop, keep it for collector’s sake, dive into nostalgia (if you’re old enough).
Good movie, awesome soundtrack, both the various artists and score by Tyler Bates.
Speaking of marketing ploys, incentives and gimmicks: not surprised that the IMAX version is only available in 3D BD.
The film was shot with IMAX cameras (some scenes) and largely designed to be presented in 3D.
Just like with Transformers: Age of Extinction, watching it at home should be as close as possible to have had watching it theaters, IMAX + 3D.
They should release IMAX films in 2D IMAX, but since everyone hates it, it’s left only for the 3D discs since everyone hates 3D and that’s the way the film was meant to be seen.
But watching the 3D version at home as 2D just for the IMAX ins’t great because since 3D is processed differently, it needs to be remastered in different luminescence levels and color timings than the normal 2D conventional couterpart.
And it’s mostly always cropped and shifted offscreen to allow for a 3D parallax for home 3D devices. There’s always going to be parts of the movie where about 8-36 pixels are cropped off the left margin.
IMAX is now a gimmick since it’s shifting towards a single-sided coin where you can only see it in theaters.
We’ll have to wait for them to re-release the bluray in 2D IMAX with Dolby Atmos, just like they did with Star Trek: Into Darkness (minus the Atmos extension).
The song is Pilot’s "Magic", a catchy classic from 1974. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96kwILL35ig
I’m adding that to my playlist.
Wonder what else James Gunn left on the proverbial cutting room floor?
and here it is (asterisk ones were discarded):
I’m Not in Love – 10cc
Come and Get Your Love – Redbone
Go All the Way – Raspberries
*Never Been to Spain – Three Dog Night
Hooked on a Feeling – Blue Swede
*Magic – Pilot
The Pina Colada Song – Rupert Holmes
*Livin’ Thing – Electric Light Orchestra
Moonage Daydream – David Bowie
Fooled Around and Fell in Love – Elvin Bishop
*Fox on the Run – The Sweet
Cherry Bomb – The Runaways
Spirit in the Sky – Norman Greenbaum
O-O-H Child – Five Stairsteps
*Surrender – Cheap Trick
The first cut of the movie had the above songs, but he obviously made editorial changes,
and Ain’t No Mountain High Enough and I Want You Back are both from "Awesome Mix #2".

Also, don’t forget Volume 0 😉
from Listen: Awesome Mix Volume 0 From Guardians of the Galaxy Revealed (http://www.slashfilm.com/awesome-mix-volume-0-guardians-of-the-galaxy/)
I don’t know. But considering that track two is called "The Final Battle Begins" I’m guessing it’s not. 🙂

Anyone know if the score track listing is in chronological order? Been a hot minute since I’ve seen the film and I don’t have the time lately to get around to re-watching it.

28. Citizens Unite
29. A Nova Upgrade
I had this on my portable and would listen to it on random and didn’t have any jarring experiences where it would cut off.
Thanks for the track list, I’ll re-tag my album accordingly.
Or create a playlist… I don’t use playlists very often… This would be a fun time to learn playlists again.
Now I have found this track! 🙂
Now, before I post the links here, I would also like to say that the GotG score reminds me sometimes of The Fifth Element (by Eric Serra); like, "Ronan’s Theme"(or Ronan’s Arrival) reminds me of "Mangalores or "Mondoshawan".
Even though The Fifth Element isn’t the greatest movie I’ve ever seen (I mean, GotG is a solid movie compared to TFE), it has a light, entertaining feel to it. Like GotG, it shows a world that is "used", not all glossy etc. Both movies have a deep meaning to it, like friendship(GotG) and Love (TFE), and they don’t take themselves too seriously. I can honestly see similarities between them, even though they are somewhat different..
Now, to wrap it up, I found the track that I was looking for: the song that reminded me of a classical piece while listening to "Groot Spores".
Here is "Groot Spores":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UZtPBWLxw8
Here is "Claire de Lune" (originally composed by Claude Debussy) by Isao Tomita (also featured in Ocean’s 13)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cL7HcWIyFes
Do you hear the similarities, too? 🙂
Yeah, I just, I don’t know, think that maybe Tyler Bates listened to Claire de Lune when making Groot Spores, because I kinda get the same vibe from both of them. Maybe it’s the same key or mood or certain elements that both tracks uses. It’s got that "wonderous", magical feel to it..
I don’t know, maybe you’re right, maybe it’s odd 😉
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0lcdgDCytA
Also, I have not seen Ocean’s 13, but I think you meant to say that Claire de Lune is played at the end of Ocean’s 11
But yeah, Claire de Lune also plays on O’13. If you liked O’11, you should check it out. 🙂
