I’m not quite sure was it on a discussion previously, but still, I, as an Elfman-fan, find this one funny and embarassing at the same time. Fells strange… Look for yourselves:
The Nostalgia Critic – Alice in Wonderland (2010) Movie Review – Part 1 – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RpSU08d5Bo#t=2m58s)

So, guys, what do you think about it, does some of our favorite composers are getting a bit… well, in a maneer of speaking, lazy? It’s not about talent, skill, or imagination. I’m talking about the very process of creation and how it’s become more auto-pilot thing than a real artistry of it’s kind. For instance, same Elfman can produce the sound that drives you to the other worlds, made of sound and emotions, but in the same time he can make something ike Mr. Peabody which is a nice bubble-gum for any movie-music enthusiast, but nothing more than that. The other example: John Williams, which literally made my childood whith his music copying himself rather blatantly with his The Book Thief… which is Angela’s Ashes 1.5… No pun intended.
So, yet again, what can you say about it?

P.S.
The Unknown Known is such a great music, btw!)

well, when comparing his masterpieces like batman\returns and ed scissorhands, yeah, hes getting lazy and unimaginative. to this days i still remember the main theme of ed, while i havent seen the movie nor heard the theme in quite a while. i dont remember a single piece of music from alice.
