just like knuckles’ chaotix

Hey! There are a bunch of mp3 rips of Cosmic Carnage floating around the internet, but I had trouble tracking down a FLAC copy. Would anyone have one/be willing to perform a kind rip? Cosmic Carnage might have sucked but I really feel its music needs to be heard by a larger audience. There’s some excellent FM work here, like a hyped-up tribute to wild guitars and twangy synth, and if you’re any bit receptive to Genesis/Mega Drive music, you might find something to like here. Double thanks!

you could do a VGM to FLAC conversion, unless you want a hardware recorded version.

I wouldn’t mind either, I just don’t have the know-how to do it myself (plus, being an audiophile I’d rather trust someone with the proper qualifications).

Cylic’s Stage (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MLgUYWQIw-k) is an excellent example of late-era FM synth at its best, as well as being a pretty good indicator for what the rest of the stage theme sounds like. Killer riffs, excellent instruments, and some of the best use of percussion I’ve ever heard from the system. I know most of what we’re hearing is actually coming from the Genesis, but is it -all- of it, or does the 32x play some small part?

and i uploaded a VGM to FLAC conversion here (http://www.mediafire.com/download/eoos09nndsgeu1a/Cosmic+Carnage.rar).

and the game uses the extra 32x soundchip for it’s better sounding percussion samples. all FM/PSG instruments are still produced by the YM2612/SN76489 though.

Thanks a ton! And I knew the percussion sounded a little different than what I’m used to, thanks for the bit of info 😀
