There was a firmware update to the Wii U today (version 5.0). I updated my console and was greeted with crappy video quality and terrible sound. The console sounds congested, and there are jagged edges everywhere. Colors also seem washed out.

I have the video/audio settings set to HDMI, 1080p, and stereo. Quick-start is enabled.

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone have any solutions?

Thanks.

So, the typical Nintendo Console?

Please explain further, do you have before/after screenshots?

Nintendo is starting to get sort of a reputation with firmware issues.

Oh, I fixed this long ago.

Turns out I needed to update the TV of all things.

I plugged in a USB with an update file, and it changed the way the TV deals with HDMI connections. Problem solved.

why would you reply to a half year old thread just to stupidly bash nintendo? (and finding out you were wrong anyway)?
