Note: this release was created using the Decca Records release which contains the complete final score, and the original soundtrack album. The original album was interesting in that it had none of the score used in the film so I’ve included those tracks as extras.

It’s pretty weird how it works, really. Unusually, the original album is comprised of completely different takes from what was actually used in the final film.
Actually, Williams had a completely separate recording done for the Jaws LP. He did the same thing with Close Encounters. Used to be a fairly common practice.

Actually, it’s the other way around. The Anniversary Edition is the main project (CD1) and the original soundtrack is bonus material (CD2).
They did it that way because it was actually cheaper to rerecord the score instead of using the actual film score.
