I’m going crazy this days trying to find this in lossless.
Now I’m trying with torrents… I found one of the Limited Edition of The Two Towers in Apple Lossless, but I’m not yet receiving a bit of it. :/

Possibly, YES! 😀
The spectrogram shows a higher frequency (22 kHz) than the iTunes quality (18 kHz) and the 320k mp3 quality (20 kHz).
So, I’ll assume it’s lossless.
Thanks a lot, PeterJJ! You quickly managed to end a very long search!
I’m always a bit baffled with those frequency responses…sometimes the difference is obvious, other times it’s hard to tell….:-)

Thank you, PeterJJ! This has been keeping me up at night for three years 🙂
Do you happen to have "Use Well the Days" in lossless too? Then I would be eternally grateful!
is this even available on CD?…it’s my understanding that it was released on a dvd…so technically there wouldn’t be a "lossless" version
I found a (fake) 320 and some 160/128 mp3s
I remember sinus has a link for this. Not entirely sure if it’s true lossless or not, I guess it should be.
Try ask him.
If he doesn’t answer, I can send you his link.

Got it! Thanks for the tip. It sounds pretty good–definitely a huge improvement over my current track.

Superb! Much appreciated.
I own a copy of the Complete Recordings for the Lord of the Rings trilogy which is said to be the most comprehensive edition of the soundtrack (9h44 runtime) and this is nowhere to be found in the tracklist…
Since the link is dead, should I take it the actual track you are refering to is this one ?

From what I hear there is a segment heavily similar in the Complete Recordings of the Fellowship of the Ring.
That would be on disc 3, track 4 The Fighting Uruk-Hai, starting around 2:27.
See for yourself there:
