Here it finally is: the Deluxe Edition for The Amazing Spider-Man, a bit sooner than many of you expected. My initial plan involved sharing it the moment the sequel hits theaters; well, Ive decided differently. Why? Because the sequels’ score The Amazing Spider-Man 2 has just been shared here. It might be nice to compare them, especially since the version of the sequel is an official Deluxe Edition. Comparing them might prove to be interesting… I still am disappointed though that James Horner wasnt asked to compose the score for the follow-up. Not only because the music on the Edition shared here is very good, but also for consistency reasons. I believe that my version gives proper credit to Horners’ composition, it might even shame the sequels’ score into hiding 😉
I finished this release roughly three months ago and I like it. Apart from odd, occasional crossfades (did you think I wouldnt combine as many tracks as possible? :D) I cannot find any errors in mastering, placement of tracks, etc. When listening to my own versions I treat them just like Id treat something officially released, its as if they were made by someone else. Which leads me to be extremely critical with my own editions. But what did I do? I compressed dynamics with faders in order to have the most control and absolutely no artifacts caused by commonly used dynamic compression. I also changed the stage of the recording slightly and equalized it differently. The OST has always been one of the best sounding scores released in recent years. Still, it lacked a bit of ‘oomph’… which my version has. Dont worry, I didnt stray too far from the original sound. BTW, when the sessions/complete score was released I also noticed that they sounded exactly like the OST. The only differences were absent brickwall limiting and dynamic compression of some, but not all tracks. The OST made softer tracks louder in order for them not to drown against the louder action tracks… though the result was inconsistent and depended on the track that came before or after. On my version, soft tracks have been boosted so that they can be understood better, moreover, their gain is consistent, they now feel completely organic. All in all – arrogance mode on – Im inclined to say that my version sounds much better than either the OST or the sessions – arrogance mode off.
For the cover I had to choose between several high resolution poster arts… well, I didnt choose, I simply used them all. I dont think that I have ever offered 8 different front cover designs before, there should be a cover for every taste. Apart from the 8 front covers you can find 4 back covers and 6 inlay covers. Hope you like them.
EDIT: I was asked via PM why I used the film version of the ‘Main Title’; I did it because – to my ears – it played better than the OST version. I also did some mixing/edits within another track, sadly Ive forgotten which :D. I also shortened or removed silent passages within tracks for pacing reasons. Those pauses make sense when used in context with the movie, they dont make any sense however when the music is on its own. After all, the movie and the score CD are seperate mediums, one is audiovisual, the other is audio only – and therefore speaks for itself. Without the movie, a score is a musical piece of art and IMO it also deserves to stand on its own.
Anyway, as always… have fun! 🙂
STILL, A WARNING:
1. Once the links expire, I wont upload it again, someone else has to do that (maybe by creating mirrors?)
2. Mp3’s: I wont provide them either. Dont be lazy and create them yourself, you can find countless guides with google.

All these ‘Amazing Spider-Mans’-threads certainly look funny 😀
Could you possibly share a separate link for the hi-quality covers if possible? Thanks!
Horner’s music worked better than I expected, and this deluxe edition sure that does justice.
If you’ve never listened to any of this score but are starting here, still give the main title a listen as well:

This is a video sequence I edited together a while back using the full main title, something not heard in the film.
I actually did this for the entire score, so this is just the first segment.
Could you possibly share a separate link for the hi-quality covers if possible? Thanks!
Yep. OP has been edited to include an additional cover-only link 🙂

I am impressed by your work.

I thought so too (that it worked well within the movie). And I had hoped that my version would reflect that. You saying that it indeed does so, is all I could wish for.

I haven’t seen the film or listened to any part of the score, but you can be damn sure I’ll start here. Thanks for another deluxe
Its a really good score. It starts slow and after half the running time it gets faster, louder and harder. Definitely not ‘A Beautiful Mind’ (although thats a beautiful score on its own… only a bit too calm for my taste).

I hear everywhere that zimmer will be inivitably superior to horner, that his score was garbage, that it wasnt epic. I think horner did one of his best with that one, the score is really refreshing and deserves more, so thanks for that
One part of doing this release was the intention to show the Zimmer-fans that there are other composers out there, composers better suited for certain tasks. I havent heard the sequel score yet (I wont accept a lossy download – so Ill just buy the Deluxe Edition) but Im sure that itll be functional within the movie. When on its own… well, what can one expect? It will be a continuation of the style Zimmer currently likes to use. From what Ive read it has been updated with club sounds. To me this isnt surprising at all as that has been the route Zimmer has been going for a few years now. I for one love the inclusion of electronic elements into orchestral scores. If its tastefully done (like I expect for the sequel) it might work.
Having said that, Zimmer is not Horner. Horner is a fully fleshed-out, trained composer. You can hear this everywhere… and sadly, you can hear that Zimmer hasnt enjoyed traditional training. Musically, Horner is more inventive while Zimmer has been walking on worn-out paths. And that says a lot, because Horner himself is not an unknown when repeating what he has done before.
Where was I going with this?? Ugh, Ive forgotten, so Ill better stop writing.
EDIT: Now I know again 😀 In short: musically, Horner is much more interesting. Stylistically, Zimmer is more appealing. He’s always consistent when it comes to style, but lacks musical substance more often than not. Horner scores are loaded with musical substance, but they lack style on occasion (his Spider-Man suffers a bit in that regard). If you want Horner at his best, give ‘Titanic’ and ‘Perfect Storm’ a listen. Both are perfectly executed scores and should be part of any collection (preferrably in the form of my Deluxe Editions ;)). Or this one. Not his best but certainly very, very good.

Thank you for this. Kudos for helping me out by providing mp3’s! 🙂
Thanks, again!
And nice custom artwork collection, by the way. 🙂
I really appreciate the hard work you put into all this. Thanks a million!
Yeah, well… I cannot control who re-shares something I made (‘made’ is far fetched, as I myself reguritated someone elses’ work). Legitimate release? That would be a first! 😀
Thank you for this!
Great job with the covers, I’m having a hard time deciding which one to use!
Get out of here, you ungrateful bastard 😀
Haha, good point! 😀
I think I would if Id be listening to them… Ive tried again and again to do something about it – now thisll sound so stupid – but I cannot take videogame scores seriously. I know. But thats the way it is right now. Sorry.
I wish you did! I love the Batman Arkham scores in particular (they were actually orchestral instead of synthesized like most scores) because for videogames they’ve got pretty good music.
Thank you for sharing your passion for the music. 🙂

Thanks a lot!

I’m the same with with video game scores. The best ones IMO are the first gears of war which was totally orchestrated with a organic orchestra, splinter cell conviction, god of war 3 and of course shadow of the colossus which was made with an organise orchestra. You really need to try these mate
Conviction had such an awesome soundtrack, great blend of orchestra and synth. Shame the composers who took over for Blacklist ditched that style for some dubstep MoS percussion-filled music.
The links for Titanic will definitely not exist anymore… but The Perfect Storm might: Thread 166835
Gazillion thanks to SonicAdventure. Seriously thanks! 😀
(P.S. Zimmer’s score is quite fun too, though I still prefer Horner’s full orchestra… more emotionaly attractive for me)
Ive ordered the Deluxe Edition… might arrive tomorrow or the day after. From all Ive read, I could be in for a surprise. We’ll see.
As always thank you much.
As always thank you much.
And I did think ‘Should I notify her?’. But then I thought ‘Nah, she’ll see it’ 😀
Oh yes, that. Im avoiding thinking ’bout it. Until my own CD arrives tomorrow 😀
For me THE reason to give this score another go. I could never warm up to the OST, how it was sequenced, I always came out disappointed.
However, I think the score works much better in the film and I’m looking forward to hearing as it appears in the film.
So thank you kind sir.

I don’t know how many (if any of you) downloaded my video file quoted, but I’m uploading them all since a lot of people seem to have either heard the score but not seen the film itself, or haven’t done either but were interested now that this Deluxe Edition was assembled.
Thread coming…

Please disregard my last.I found a way around the maleware, but the links are still working.Apologies, and thank you to the poster.
Thank you solid for a flac version.
Why should anyone do that? There are multiple links from at least 9 different hosts online (I’ve just checked), see SonicAdventure’s mirrorcreator links in his first message.
"File does not exist," "File not found," etc. I did get the first one to work though. I had previously missed the tiny direct download link.
but only one mirror was alive and it may die soon.

Gave you both reps!
Interesting idea, but I would personally keep some silent gabs there, simply because silence is part of music, too. But your work is so well done that it’s hard to tell where it originally was anyway, so…
