So what the hell is this? I’ve always loved Akira Yamaoka’s work on the Silent Hill soundtracks, especially the melodic / vocalised rock music he’s done so based on the recently released Sounds Box I’ve compiled an album of just these. That means that only the more mainstream, casually listenable songs remain with a few extra tracks added (the original version of the Alex Theme from Homecoming and Silent Scream from the SH Revelation movie) for a complete experience and the tracks that are not enjoyable without the games (like the ones that are mostly made out of noises) are completely cut out. Also the tracks are not in the order like what you’d see on a usual soundtrack collection (for example first disc – first game, second disc – second game) but organised in a more stylistically natural fashion to keep the flow of the music constant and to provide the feeling of listening to a huge concept album. So at the end this little "Song Box" is a more than 3 hours long, more or less complete compilation of the rock music of the Silent Hill games Akira Yamaoka had worked on. It may not contain all your favourite tracks but there’s a 99% chance it does.

I made a similar compilation in the past for personal use, though you have more stuff here.
While I don’t think that’s the best (it’s missing Mary McGlynn :D) I do think that was the most unique soundtrack. That vinyl effect is something he should have used more in the later games too, "Traversing the Portals of Reality" and "Killing Time" sounds super cool with that. However to me the best one will always be the songs of SH4, "Cradel of Forest" (Joe Romersa should sing more, he has a cool ass Bowie voice :D) and "Room of Angel" are absolute masterpieces imo.
I tried to make something before putting it up but my Photoshop skills are not high enough to produce something of quality. Anyone would be more than welcome to try. 🙂
