If the URL points to the actual image file, use this:
http://server/file.jpg
# or make it clickable to link to a second image file:
http://server/file.jpg (http://server/second_file.jpg)

Thanks for the reply although I have the image on my computer and simply need to paste it.
It’s for an image of the album or soundtrack.

You need to upload it first to a free image hosting server, for example to imgur: the simple image sharer (http://imgur.com), and use the link they provide.

Is there a known preference one over another?

I guess that for the normal use here (single images), any server is good. As is often the case, Photobucket needs you to log in (and you can do it also through a Facebook account), and surely it provides some advantages to keep track and organize your images. It’s likely that those facilities are available also in imgur.com if you register there, although that’s not needed, as it allows anonymous uploads like tinypic.com , postimage.org or bayimg.com .
In any case, keeping a backup of the important images is a good idea.
