Augustin Dumay, violin
Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo
Manuel Rosenthal, cond
Christine Allard, harp
1985

1. Chausson, Poeme
2. Faure, Berceuse
3. Lalo, Intermezzo/Symphony Espagnole
4. Massenet, Meditation de Thais
5. Saint-Saens, Prelude Du ‘Delugue’
6. Berlioz, Reverie et Caprice
7. Ravel, Tzignane

I bought this disc 29 years ago along with my first compact disc player. The disc skipped in one track but I could not find another copy to make an exchange and I wanted the extraordinarily beautiful Meditation de Thais. Turned out that future compact disc players had no problems playing the complete disc.

I knew a young man who asked me how he should propose to his girl friend. “You play the violin, right?” I asked. Yes he did. “Take her to a restaurant, pull out your violin and play this piece of music by Massenet." They married and have one child.

For all the romantics out there, enjoy while the link functions.

You are such a romantic soul, my friend!
Thank you once again.

So your friend knows who to blame…

Augustin Dumay in 1985…

…and in 2013.

I have read a lot of your comments on your previous threads
(but, alas, I haven’t found an active link).
Your thoughts have reminded me of Oscar Wilde’s quote:
"A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his
punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world."

Yes, it is. Look at how many people checked out the thread… and how few posted any comment. That is how people kill a thread. Lack of appreciation.
