I am currently developing a game and am doing some research.

Hopefully your answers could help…

What was your all time favorite level of the final fantasy series and why?

Not necessarily my favorite, but a memorable one I enjoyed: Ispen’s Castle from FFIX. The castle is upside down, so you are actually walking along the ceilings and underside of the stairs. The twist they added to it that I really enjoyed was because the castle was upside down, so was your equipment. In the castle your strongest weapons became your weakest and the weakest weapons you started out with are now your strongest.

Of the few I’ve played, probably The Ancient City of Giruvegan in Final Fantasy XII. This place was just wondrous to explore, and the architecture, inside and outside was very beautiful. Although, once inside the great crystal, it was kind of annoying, but that was the most memorable part of the game for me.

Welcome!

Probably my favourite level would be the entire city of Midgar in FFVII – from the slums to Sector 8 I just loved the grimy, smoky steampunk feel to the place (and was always disappointed that I couldn’t explore more of it). Half the reason I got Crisis Core was that I could finally explore more of Sector 8 (even if there wasn’t much there to be honest :P).

Dollet and Deling City from FFVIII, and Lindblum from FFIX would all vie for second place though.

EDIT: Also forgot Academia 4XX AF from FFXIII-2 (Academia 400 AF is also good, especially the rainy night setting, the only drawback is the people being turned into C’ieth every few moments and the constant random battles every few feet really sucks. :p).

Like Enkidoh, Midgar from FF 7. The Golden Saucer, and the Northern Cave are my personal favorites.

Not from final fantasy but 2300 a.d from chrono trigger is f’in sweet. And 12,000 b.c. from the final fantasy series I’ll have to say sunken gelinka in ff7, the tower with Odin guardian force in ff8 , forgot the name of it

I was always largely fond of Cosmo Canyon in Final Fantasy VII. An entire cliff camp community based around astrological study (or at least that’s how I viewed it at the time).

That, and Nanaki was always the highlight of the game for me.
