Another Great score, by the very underrated Fenton, but he is a Wonderful Composer, my second favorite English Composer, after Barry of course.

I’m so glad that you are liking him, he’s a Great Composer but a liitle bit underrated though.

My first Fenton score was Memphis Belle. I was younger then and looking for more bombastic scores, like those of Williams, Goldsmith, or Barry (his 007 scores, or The Black Hole fit that category nicely), so i wasn’t able to appreciate Fenton’s score. I haven’t listened to it in years, but now that I’m older i have a much greater appreciation for quieter scores and/or more interesting compositions. I still like the big over the top scores, but i like the more subtle scores equally as much now.

Actually that was also my first Fenton CD that I bought, back in 88, 89 something like that, and from that day on I fell in Love with his great gift for melody.

He’s not particularly great in action movies, like Williams, Goldsmith, Silvestri;, he’s more adequate for Epic Dramas, or Romantic scores, like Delerue, Barry and Morricone.
