Music + Effects Track
Low-fidelity music/effects track. DTS audio ripped from the Arrow (UK) blu-ray, edited in wave editor. Some tracks have minor differences from the film version, perhaps different takes were used. Unfortunately cues #3 and #4 were mostly replaced with music from a later cue ("Willa’s Murder"). I edited out the repeated music, although you can hear the complete incorrect versions at the end. It’s not unusual for a music-effects track (eg. Double Indemnity; The Manster) to omit some music and repeat other cues or insert unrelated music. I checked the 5.1 regular movie audio (which sometimes has music-only segments) but all channels had dialog.
However, I did find cues #3 and #4 among the acetates (see below).
The soundtrack could be further improved with dehissing, etc. as well as patching with better sounding parts from the film or Charles Laughton-narrated version. I replaced a one-second frog effect at 1:27 in "Pearl’s Song" with a clean bit from the Laughton-narrated version. Non-diegetic ("source") tracks are numbered according to their film placement within score cues.

The incomplete, very scratchy acetate-type source contains the complete versions of cues #3 and #4. Track 6 is missing first few seconds at the start. Track 8 is actually several incomplete cues faded together (someone could take the pieces and integrate them into the MFX versions). This is NOT the clean source used in the Charles Laughton story-reading album.

I have an incomplete, very scratchy acetate-type source of music which I believe contains the two missing cues, 3 and 4. It’s not the clean source used in the Charles Laughton story-reading album.
