I haven’t heard of an official release date of the soundtrack? Is this from an official release or a promo? Anyone?

It seems to be a European digital release.
My expectations for the movie are higher than for the score, but let’s see, or better: hear! 🙂
Thanks for the info!

I’m kinda bummed Silvestri didn’t get to do the followup. I think Jackman’s has been pretty good so far, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed, but i still wonder why it’s not Silvestri.
Now, the score itself, I’m very disappointed. In the first Captain America, Silvestri created one of the most exciting super hero themes since William’s original Superman IMO. So what do the filmmakers do for the sequel, throw out a very talented composer for another Zimmer clone and boring noise. I know there will be plenty of people who will praise this thing but, I’m so sick and tired of this style of music in film. You could just interchange most recent super hero scores and nobody would know the difference. I really should have just avoided this score when I saw the composer but, I really enjoyed the first CA score and wanted to give it a chance, just not my cup of tea. Guess this explains why I’ve really gotten into classic scores a whole lot more in the last year, stuff from the 50s, 60s and 70s is far more enjoyable to my ears then most things in the last decade.
Sorry for the rant, thanks again for sharing.

Yeah so far I would prefer the original even with its poor use of the actual theme but then what can you do. I wouldn’t say Henry Jackman is incapable of writing a Silvestri style score though. He writes what he is asked to write. Anything too traditional and he would be kicked off the score. I do agree with you though that classic scores are generally much more interesting lately.
I think its modern tone goes well with the fighting style shown in the movie.

Here’s a quote from Henry Jackman talking about Track 6.
“So I said you know what, I’m gonna do something completely crazy and dark for the Winter Soldier, and I’m just gonna go for it. I hadn’t worked with these directors before, and away from picture I just wrote a suite for the Winter Soldier that was about six or seven minutes long that I spent ages on and treated it like a record. The idea being that if I get this vibe right, if I nail this six or seven minute thing which I think is the essence of the character and it’s super radical and it’s not that traditional and not completely orchestral because I want to save some of that for Captain America, let’s just see what these guys say. I played it for them really loud, and after they were finished there was a bit of a silence, and then Joe [Russo] went “I love it! Awesome!” (laughs) What was really cool about it was that he said that piece was so great and unique and it doesn’t sound exactly like film music, do me a favour and don’t do that thing when once we start working on the movie it gets sanitised or watered down. Whatever it is I just heard, I really want to hear that in the movie and not just 20% of that in the film, and that gave me all the information I needed about how creatively brave these guys were and it works in the film, and I’m really proud of it. And this track that I’m talking about will be on the CD in it’s original form”.

I think this has to be the concern I have when I first learned Jackman is to take over the scoring duty for this sequel. It has some moments but the rest are drowned in the obscurity of the prevailing RCP tone, generic sounding temp music more akin to noise and special sound effects. I thought Jackman is capable of doing better music than this one. To be fair I’ll go over the score once again after I see the film and heard the music as to how it stands.
Perhaps the complete version has some other hidden sparks to offer but judging from this line up. The cons has just overcome the pros for me.
We’ve gone from Silvestri to this…. Jesus H F’n Christ …… speechless …. has anyone seen the film…… did any of this shit make it into the final film ….. I heard that the music was so bad that they eventually just tracked some of Silvestri’s Captain America score into the film….. Fuck me we’ve hit a new low with this shit
Hmmmm….interesting indeed. 🙂

Enjoy and Please Say Thanks 🙂
Thanks for the score! I loved Silvestri’s Cap March, but never really felt the majority of the score (or his Avengers score) was anything noteworthy.
I have to agree. I know that some people feel differently, I have to say I’m glad that Silvestri isn’t returning. The main theme for Captain America I enjoyed, but the rest of the score was just plain flat. Similar thing with the Avengers score. The main theme was excellent (though WAY overused in the film imo) but the rest of the score is nothing to write home about. I’m not really familiar with Jackman’s work, but at least it will be something new. I’m still hoping for Brian Tyler for Avengers 2. 😀 😀 😀
reminds me of his score for Vampire Hunter and Brian Tyler’s Bug.
well, i love nin and tool so this kind of scores really make me happy and i know this score will be hated by orchestral score fans.
So far, I’ve only been able to give my 100% backing to Mr. Tyler’s Iron Man 3 score, and that hasn’t changed. There’s nothing spectacular here. Thank you all the same.
Edit:
Holy crap this soundtrack is amazing – Captain America (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdGFUrtTPS4)
Nuff’ said. Not the richest guy in the world but I feel like buying it since it’s so awesome. xD

WOW!!! Dude you nailed it,… what made you want Brian Tyler for Avengers 2? And how did you know it was going to happen?
