I believe that the FYC to Gravity contains the exact same material as the OST. Maybe it doesn’t, but anyways; here it is 🙂

Thanks, btw. 🙂
Hoping that, if the sessions are ever leaked, they ahve alternate versions of tracks. There is one of Gravity in the extras, and sounds amazing. Love alt tracks 😀

Christ there was music in the Film …. didnt hear a note of it …… once again Williams was robbed
thats partially what ruined War Horse

What? Come again? "music that’s in your face is still music!" but RCP generic temps that’s in your face is just basically special effects & noise masquerading as music!
Indeed!
James Horners The Amazing Spider-Man…. I was Humming that tune for months after the film…. still am….. 🙂
And it has music, at the end of the soundtrack. Yes, it wasn’t full orchestral, but it couldn’t be really. But they did use it to record some parts, and the singers were not syhtn. It was music, not everything but yes it was, and one of the most heroic themes in the last two tracks.
Iron Man 3, Man of Steel

Agreed. It had a very fitting score, and felt perfect. The last time an Orchestral score worked in space was Star Wars. I don’t know what "noise" people are talking about. Ya there’s a few beeps on the OST, but I kinda like that. Stephen Price did his job right: he made me (the audience) feel what I was supposed to feel, and I loved it. It’s why he won an Academy Award. Williams has enough, let the new guy shine
Sorry, but that’s bollocks. Star Trek, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3, etc.pp. – all fine "outer space" scores.
Price’s "score" is sound design. Nothing more.
but there were better scores this year. ‘Her’, ‘The Book Thief’ and of course A. Pintos ‘The Host’.

Agree to disagree. I’ll give you Star Trek (2009), but the last Star Wars film wasn’t 1977. Remember, it was 2005. 9 years ago. I wouldn’t consider Alien that orchestral. A little, but not Williams orchestral. And you just said it yourself – "Stephen Price’s SCORE". Now The Social Network – that was sound design. I’ll even go so far as to say Inception definitely has some sound design, but it works and I love it
I personally wanted Saving Mr. Banks to win Best Original Score, but I also have no problem with Gravity winning at all! I think its a great score!
but then I listen to Inception over and over again, so I am sure that makes it easy to disregard my opinion

Same here, music is music. And your opinion is your opinion, no one can disregard that. Did you see my comment about Inception (post #32)? A lot of it is noise, but it perfectly fits the dreamscape of the film. I listen to it over and over as well. In fact, almost every Sunday afternoon I take a nap while listening to the complete score
I agree with both of you guys. Music, like all other art forms, is all subjective.
But I do have to say that the users on here who say that all the score is just sound design, obviously havent listened to the whole soundtrack. There are some great themes in this score…
Gravity probably being the most significant of them all. My 2 favorites are Aurora Borealis and Aningaaq. To those of you bitching about no orchestra, I found this on Wikipedia (so therefore it may not be entirely accurate):
Composer Steven Price was originally called in to help out for a couple of weeks on the music design of Gravity. After having a creative discussion with director Alfonso Cuarn, Price began coming up with a template of sounds and noises that eventually led to him being hired as the film’s composer. As work began on the film’s score, Cuarn and Price set ground rules for distancing the score from conventional Hollywood-style action scores such as omitting the use of percussion. “Ordinarily in an action film you’re often competing with explosions and god knows what else, whereas with this [movie] music could do things a different way,” said Price. “With everything we did we would try and look beyond the normal way of doing things. [For] some of the action sequences where there are explosions, I knew that […] those explosions had to be inherent.”
The score was recorded in small groups or single instruments as opposed to a collective orchestra in order for each sound to be electronically processed and mixed individually to create a layered and surrounding effect
And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why this is no John Williams score. Game. Set. Match.

I think I remember reading this interview some time ago last year… so at least the quotes from the interview are accurate.
"Magneto," the last track (and theme for Magneto) from X-Men First Class. I’ve had that tune (and its variations) in my head since that film CAME OUT. STILL DO.
And yes i do hum it.
love this score.
Ha ha ha this made me laugh what you said here….. I take a nap while listening to the complete score …. I was thinking ……… jesus that Inception score puts me to sleep ….. so then I re-read what you wrote and mis-understood it …..lol still made me laugh though
Haha no it doesn’t put me to sleep. I intentionally put it on and then slowly fall asleep. I usually make it about 1/4 of the way in, pass out, and then wake up just before "It’s A Trap" and finish the rest in that half asleep/half awake phase. I love doing it
We are at the edge of a new revolution.

Music does not have to be loud and in your face all the time
thats partially what ruined War Horse

Ok, I’m just commenting because of the discussion… I’ve got the movie on my hard drive and will probably watch it soon…
I feel sorry for both Thomas Newman and John Williams; both have had Oscar nominations in the last 2 years and some surprise entry has buggered it up for them.
We are at the edge of a new revolution.
The score was recorded in small groups or single instruments [U]as opposed to a collective orchestra in order for each sound to be electronically processed and mixed individually to create a layered and surrounding effect
Now this scares me..If it means chopping down, muting and drowning the brilliantly conceived cues with the deafening bass, synths and all that zimmerish generic temp then it’s the end of music artistry but rather all sound designs. Why learn music and all it’s intricacies in the composing business when you’re with the biggest marketing organization building up all this copy paste temps ready for the taking. To hell with the real maestro’s because all you need is a technical prowess with the electronic tools and your a master yourself!!
Score of the future= Stepford Wives!! (Dream within a dream within a dream within a dream = Nightmare)
Last movie score I qas left with stuck in my head? Moonrise Kingdom and Pacific Rim. Both get a daily play.
but i like! thank you lockdown! 🙂
EDIT: the last track "gravity" is very nice, reminds me of pearl harbor 😀
but an oscar for this?…mh i don’t know…
Why not?
As is The Social Network, and that won. So there you have it
You hit the nail on the head!
I have listened to this every night since I posted this. It helps me fall asleep. 🙂 But yes, it is the exact same.
I think I’ll try this tonight, give something other than Inception a try
Thanks 🙂
When was this? Like what part of the Oscars…?
I’m guessing it was nearing the end. I went to bed when they mentioned ’12 Years a Slave’ as Best Film of the Year.
Thanks 🙂

Seriously, when was this? I watched the entire show, didn’t miss a second of it. Was this televised?
That is why I was really confused when some people told me Gravity was conducted by Joseph Trapanese at the Oscars. I was like, I watched the whole thing and missed that?

Sure. You’ll fall a sleep, gravity has a higher effect as same as Old Souls.
I don’t listen to the OST anymore. Ever since the complete score leaked, that’s what I’ve been listening to. So it would be 4m25 Mal & Cobb. Love that cue
Gravity OST – Gravity (alternative version) – YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrTl1rZ2LSA&feature=youtu.be)
I see. Just wanna hank you for sharing here man .
Gravity Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (PRE-ORDER) (http://www.mondotees.com/Gravity-Original-Motion-Picture-Soundtrack_p_1392.html)
Can anyone rip that image (hi-res) from this site?
Thanks though. Um, does anyone have like the definitive version of the soundtrack because there seems to be a copy which has cutoff issues(talking lossless versions) and don’t really know if anyone topped that with proper rip. But if there’s complete/expanded/RS(wishful thinking, I know)…..
Sorry, don’t know how to delete :/
Nope.
Why not?
plz
I don’t have the 24bit version. He just sent me 320kbps mp3 version :/
Please share the FLAC FYC if you have it.

Could you send me the FLAC version hi res audio please?
