As Sekiria (Thread 169218) / NO OBLIGATION / AS SEKIRIA (Thread 169216)
Itās my opinion, not that I love the 80ts style of the original BGC, as you know I am open minded to these things, but the soundtrack is not enjoyable unless you hear it with the anime.
"BUBBLEGUM CRISIS COLLECTORS FILE 1999" is far better and much more enjoyable for me, not to mention those edited versions that sound much better, and vocal tracks⦠ok some I still dislike.. but they are somehow, better then the original versions. Also, my favorite tracks, are much more audible in here then in the versions in the ost. Yeah, they sound some, but at least they donāt take too much time evolving. Thatās the problem with Korenaga. You get sick of his composing easily, because he takes too much time to evolve a composition. all of the BGC Tokyo 2040 soundtrack is like that. If I am going to my congratulations to someone, it will be to Yasunori Honda, the sound designer, as he edited a lot of the soundtrack to place it properly in the anime. He made an awful soundtrack sound cool to listen in the anime. Why couldnāt he do the same with the releases soundtracks? :/
You donāt like Hiroyuki Sawano or Tatsuya Katou. I do.
You seem to like orchestral scores. I canāt stand them.
Maybe thatās why Korenagaās work appeals to me more. Havenāt seen the anime yet (including the original) so I canāt judge if it works better with the pictures.
I like the music anyway. The songs are still awful though.
Btw, I would never go so far and call someoneās work awful or say that someoneās a bad composer just because his music doesnāt appeal to me. I think itās a bit unfair.
I mean, there are several composers who are considered masters of their craft and their music does nothing for me. I would still never call them awful or bad. Itās just not my cup of tea (and thatās definitely not their fault).
Btw, you said that his music works great with the pictures. Isnāt that what itās supposed to do? So he obviously did a fine job š

I was not trying to make you feel bad because you like it. Tastes are not something we can really argue with. What fills your heart, maybe not fill mine. No one better then yourself can understand why you like certain things. So that was not my subject.
But I still find a big difference hearing File 1999 and the soundtracks.
The songs are still awful though.
Yep they are, though that NO OBLIGATION mini album was surprisingly good. Not the best the thing ever, but at least good to listen. Too bad it ends very quick :/
You donāt like Hiroyuki Sawano or Tatsuya Katou. I do.
Again, matter of taste yes. I donāt like them for what it does not fill me. I donāt like Sawano, but the only thing I got to like was Basara. Everything else he did, I donāt know. I keep on getting a sound he uses so much that getās annoying to listen. I donāt know if itās the synths work or something but it annoys me a lot. Though I do give some chance to hear more Sawano, but so far results were not that good. Tatsuya Katou, I really donāt like. I just know he lacks something but I canāt tell what. And I canāt hear his soundtracks to the fullest. I end up stopping and start listening something else to wash my my hearing. xD

I get your point and I do understand that it might be unfair. But "awful" was the experience I get with it. He tried his best? Maybe, but it was not good enough for me. I know, they donāt soundtracks they people want, and that is not even my point. I might be unfair, sorry for that, but the whole listening experience and enjoyment starts good and dies right away. That is what I feel with this.
I like the music in the anime very much. Itās stupid, but I like it. I donāt like the way it was released in the soundtracks.
No hard feelings boogie š
