But there’s some interesting material here. You can tell he’s a new composer to Hollywood. There’s quite a bit of RCP imitation here, but also lots of South American percussive influence. There is a theme for Robocop himself, but it’s completely atypical for a film of this type. Lots of people will dislike this, but I’m open minded. I look forward to seeing the film this friday.
And thanks for the share! 🙂
Edit: According to iTunes, Gavin Greenaway and Everton Nelson have been involved, too.
Thanks for the share.
Now, it is so sad to listen to this "music" when you know the Poledouris score for the original Robocop…
The score is awful anyway.
Transformers: Rise of the Fallen.
REVENGE of The Fallen
Listening to it, it feels a little generic. that one moment where Bromfman references Poledouris’ theme is really cool. Sadly it’s the only time it’s used. There are some nice moments in it, but all in all I feel it’s a bit of a let-down. Not because it is bad, but because I have heard all the stylisms in other recent scores so often. Will see how it works in the film tho 🙂
Damnit, I was just going to ask this. That’s disappointing. I figured it would be in "RoboCop Presentation", simply because I think that would be a good scene in which to play the original theme. Ohh well
It’s in the third track and gets a nice manipulated work-out. It would have been really cool if the guys decided to do that more often cause the theme would have worked so awesome. But no, themes seem to be a thing of the past. Now it’s only ultra simple progressions … :/
Ya I hear it in "Title Card". Shame that’s the only occurrence. BUT….no one’s seen the film yet, so perhaps it’s in there more than once. I mean, clearly this isn’t the complete score
true! is it only me or is this OST feeling somehow incomplete? there is no real resolution at the end or something, it just ends.
let’s wait how it all turns out in the film tho – or how the film turns out for that matter!
It does show what a massive change there is in film scoring with the rest of the score having that impossible-to-avoid RCP sound with a big bold melody of the original film. It doesn’t fit in that sense. It sticks out because if the score were one style and not the other, it would be fine.
Really what’s wrong with Mega?
Nothing just dont seem to ever wonna work for ME lol. I really need to hear this score too.
That’s probably because you’re not using Google Chrome, in which case…you SHOULD be
That being said, this score is horrible. I’m getting really sick of the Remote Control sound dominating every darn score for every darn film. I will be incredibly thrilled when this awful trend dies a very well deserved death.

Everyone’s a critic… but I cannot put the blame on you.
Lol thanks ill look into it. Ive just brought it anyway lol.
If you need I can upload my copy.
It’s hilarious, btw, reading you guys’ reactions. I lamented back when that it is a shame more of Williams’ Superman material was not used in Man of Steel (among other examples). And many of you were like"that’s so outdated and old school. Gotta make way for new work"…., and now many of the same members are lamenting the lack of a very bold, very old school theme in a new piece. I really think y’all have no idea what you really want. I am gonna bet that like with the New Conan, Clash of the Titans and Man of Steel/Dark Knight films, this score is going to be completely generic, lacking in any personality and mostly a tone/ambiance sort of groove. Just a guess…

Iran Inspection sounds like the main theme as well? I don’t know, I don’t really know either score really well. Waiting for the CD to arrive still. I have not seen or heard the other movie score/film either. So, anyways, that’s my input.
you REALLY need to see and hear the original before this….**reinterpretation**. Twas a classic score, and a classic movie. The original, NOT the sequels. Robocop needed no sequels, and needs no remake, for any reason. It IS a must see movie and a must hear score…
Amen to that. Quoted For Truth. Cheers sir. 🙂
I never held out much hope for this score, knowing full well it would be another generic coaster, but I am still somewhat disappointed (maybe because I was immensely surprised by the score I, Frankenstein yesterday… check it out if you can!!).
Also, I am not a fan of the inclusion of Poledouris’ original theme in any capacity… from what I understand of the movie (and partially why I am not so upset with the idea of a new Robocop), they are reportedly veering away from the original themes and narrative in the 1987 version, and I am more than happy to give a film that tries to separate itself from an original version a go. However, trying to tie it in musically makes me concerned that the film won’t be that far removed from the original overall.
Huh? So this is a joke? There isn’t a new Robocop movie?
Hmmmmmmmmmm… the original post, or even (2014) in the thread title didn’t give it away?
Perhaps head over to imdb.com and search for Robocop and see what results you get!
It doesn’t make much sense to include it then (I read about this so I don’t know if it’s entirely true) feature a moment in the film where various RoboCop design ideas are presented and the 1987 original is shown, only to have Michael Keaton’s character make fun of it by saying it looks like an 80s toy.
Ha… yeah, go ahead and make fun of the original then. The original will be still be loved and well remembered looooooong after your remake can be picked up as a double feature with 2012’s Total Recall for $2.
Reading everyone’s comments about the soundtrack, made me want to waste minutes of my lifer and heart it. I NEVER had faith in this movie, remake…. whatever. If they gave some other name to the movie like, and not really relating it as a remake of Robocop, no one would complain except the fact that they based on robocop to make the movie. From what I see in the trailers, the movie seems to have great action scenes, and I might like to see the movie, but only if my brain stops thinking "Robocop Remake! No WAY Robocop Remake! No WAY Robocop Remake! No WAY". I would almost only see the movie because of Michael Keaton.
Oh, and we have that all issue with… PG-13… what?
The guy suit looks very cool, I like it, but I most likely see the original Space Sheriff Sharivan in him then a Robocop…
What about epic robocop quotes? "There will be… Trouble!" and such… does this new shrimp robocop says them?
Anyway, I am masochistic and I will give a listen to it.
Thanks for the share. But VladlenCry don’t be angry about people being complaining of how bad this ost is. Opinions are Opinions, but Sharing is always thankful for the others. 🙂
I also enjoy it.
Sure, it doesn’t have the thematic intensity of the Poledouris score, but the orchestration is intelligent, and I suspect it’ll work well within the final film.
The only one that I’ve heard so far in a preview was "Dead or alive…you’re coming with me".
I’m actually surprised – read a couple of ‘positive’ reviews today (be warned – some may consider some of these reviews as spoilers):

Check out the Empire review. They gave it a mauling.
it’s not sampled and not wub wub crap

People think he’s a Zimmer-hater. Personally I’m more an overall RCP…not hater but ignorer (is that even a word?)
The good news is that Michael Bay isn’t the director of that remake picture.

PLease. Every Robocop Fan and not. Don’t go see it in the cinema. Don’t you give them your money for the tickets. Be Internet pirates. Wait for eh movie to be released in Dvd or BR and download. Not it was not good.
I swear. I was giving the benefit of doubt for this movie. That I might like the movie if I disconnected my brain and not related the names to the original stuff. I even thought that movie would have some cool action scenes, judging by the trailer. I even got the idea that this might be a good movie if the city had a another name and the characters had different names, but they would pop up references about the First Robocop Prototype, the 1987 original movie.
But no!!!!
First: I am getting sick of this new idea of monkeys with epilepsy filming action scenes. With this I mean, you don’t get to see nothing clearly or understand what the fuck is going on. Yeah, there might be some cool choreography, but it is bad.. bad filmed. Like I said. They gave the cameras to monkeys with epilepsy .
Second: What has been the problem in the last years with the screenwriters? They write total bullshit, non-sense, and non logical, giving DAMN PLOT CANYONS in the plot….. in this is the case.
If some of you want spoilers, just to get angry or having proof of why I am angry, read the spoiler codes.
But please, even those that might like the movie, Don’t give them money, don’t make them feel successful in the Awesome Rape they did to fans. The end of the movie is a Epic Spit on the fans. Fans don’t care about a remake, the original was perfect, A piece of art in how it was done. CGI nowadays kills the concept of a REAL PIECE OF ART.
I beg you people, wait for the dvd release and see it for yourselves.
I respect Everyone that may like the movie, even when I hated it. I just can’t stand not to warn fans.
MAJOR SPOILER
I can’t be the most clever person in the world to make these questions:
1 – murphy is investigating his murder. Wait what??? What murder? He didn’t die. Attempt of murder…. maybe.. But he his alive, he only lost a 1 leg and one arm.
leading me to ….
2 – ….so he only lost 1 leg and 1 arm. But the whole process of making him robot will be to replace the body parts they were functioning (more or less), and his right arm, where the famous Human Hand is out, ….. is replaced by a robotic arm!!!! SO,… why the fucking hell is that human hand doing there, if the arm was replaced???? They got out of stock of robot hands, was that it????
3 – Action scenes…….. awfull
4 – lets go back in time… back to 1987, original robocop movie. So his origin was told in less then 30 minutes in the movie….
5 – ….Basically all of this new movie is all his origin. yes becaaaaaaause…..
HYPER MAJOR SPOILER COMING: BECAUSE IT SEEMS THE PRODUCTION OF THIS FILM WAS ALREADY BEING KNOCKED OUT BY THE RAGE OF THE FANS.
SO THE PRODUCTION GOT THE ACTORS TOGETHER AGAIN AND MADE SOME NEW SCENES TO TRY TO SAVE THE MOVIE
Robocop original color is only used once, then he goes black ALL THE MOVIE. Until in the end, the scene that was made new to try catch the fans He is again with the original color.
And… robot movements don’t sound or look robotic and the sound effects for his movements are horrible.
Apparently this robocop actor was the one that chose not to wear the helmet all the movie because "A real actor acts without masks". OK Douchebag. Frank Welker , original Murphy and robocp actor, went to mimic lessons to learn how to do robot movements and act 10 …. no 100000000000% times better then you with a helmet, then you without it.
This robocp moves FAST
Specially when he enters the car. XD

Wow. It’s just a movie…
It’s fine that you don’t like it, but others clearly did.
And yeah, it isn’t as good as Robocop ’87, but who cares? Who really thought it would be?
The original movie isn’t going away because this new one is here.
I thought it was fairly clear from the new movie that the human hand was supposed to signify a human hand pulling the trigger, which is what Sellars wanted from Robocop. He wanted Americans to fully believe a man was in control.
Nope. It was in the script that new Robocop would be unmasked, again to make him ‘more human’ and give a face that the American public could ‘rally behind.’ Not Joel Kinnaman’s decision.
Oh and btw, Peter Weller played the original Robocop.
And he only learned those movements (based on Russian mime i believe) because the day the suit turned up, already weeks into production, they discovered he couldn’t run in it and Orion pictures threatened to shut the production down. New Robocop moves exactly how original Robocop was initially intended to.
Yes, if I am objective and I stop comparing it to the original movie at every turn, I can still say the ending ‘confrontation’ of Robocop 2014 was weak and underwhelming. But the film is not without merit, and judged on it’s own, it’s not a bad movie at all.

And Weller made the whole damn thing work with those movements. His movements defined the character as much as his voice did.
Agreed, but that iconic movement and Weller’s iconic performance were a product of that film and its time – absolutely no reason why the new film should feel obliged to mimic it entirely
Overall 8/10. Go and see, especially if you like Verhoven version.
Thanks for the share, VladlenCry!

It’s not a great film, but it certainly isn’t a bad one. Definitely worth watching I’d say. I too agree that this unwarranted hatred towards it is getting old now.
And the endless comparisons to the Total Recall remake…. urghh.
Total Recall wasn’t awful because it was a remake, it was awful because it was directed by Len Wiseman. Did you really expect the hack that gave us Underworld and Die Hard 4.0 (Live Free or Die Hard) to make a decent movie?? Wake up people…
Padhila on the other hand is a Brazilian documentary/thriller filmmaker, trying to break into mainstream Hollywood. He may have fumbled a bit with his first foray into studio movie-making, but atleast with his ‘remake,’ he’s trying to deliver a message of his own. And more power to him for trying to steer away from the original movie as much as possible, and take it in a new direction
All the more reason not to use the Poledouris theme.

Padhila was nothing more than a director for hire for Sony… that’s all…. all of his ideas were shot down for this diluted , convoluted mess that is Robocop 2014 …. it is an abomination of a movie not because of Padhila but because of Sony …. It’s nothing more that a cash grab…… the movie is Garbage …… bottom of the barrell ….. I’d watch RoboCop 3 before I’d ever watch this abomination again…. at least RoboCop 3 had a decent score….. this on the other hand…… fuck me talk about Garbage
And, I ask, what is wrong with 80’s toys, or designs??

I hope you speak Russian.
I don’t recall the new film having a stab at the original at all. In the scene with Keaton and the classic Robocop design, they show a transforming concept model of the suit, with Baruchel’s character saying it’s ‘all the rage with the kids these days’ or something along those lines. That’s a stab at Transformers, not Robocop.
I watched the original film again yesterday to refresh my memory, and it’s close to perfect. Such a genius slice of movie-making.
While i would rate the remake as a lesser film on most counts, I don’t think it’s bad at all. Just competing against a classic that was never going to be bested.
I suggest to you to try this link instead.
