Finally.

Honestly I’ve always felt it would be better to simply wait for the gamerip version. CC2 is always so stingy with their OST releases and they never even release HALF of the total music in the games they make. Not something i think anyone should go out of their way to get tbh.

I’ve always been fond of Chikayo’s work but it would be nice if she was given a real orchestra again like with Asura’s Wrath.

It’s an android social card-based game.
All the music you hear here, is all that there currently is in it.
And since the music is downloaded "as you play", and is in fucking parts (I know, I’ve tried to rip it) it sounds horrible. The quality isn’t too great.

As for Chikayo… well, I honestly prefer when she doesn’t do purely orchestral stuff. I like her more when she mixes synth with that. I mean, I like her orchestral stuff too, but Solatorobo’s soundtrack, albeit nice, is kind of boring imo. Asura’s Wrath was awesome, but at the same time, it was kinda different from her usual, that and she had an orchestra.

Then there’s Naruto series, which music I enjoy, but even then ,she fucking overuses that east west quantum leap ra shakuhachi sample.

To this day, Chikayo proves to be at her best when she works on the .hack// series, but that’s just my opinion.
Though Asura’s Wrath is close after .hack//
Then goes Naruto.
Lastly Solatorobo.

Nothing against against Chikayo but i don’t think she knows how to properly use an orchestra by herself that is. Kaoru Wada was the arranger for Asura’s Wrath so i think he helped quite a bit with that issue. Paired with a good arranger she’s perfect imo. She probably isn’t as comfortable with it and would rather go with her usual synth heavy scores instead (see plenty of her usual antics even in Asura’s Wrath). That’s one thing that has urked me with her Naruto scores. At this point there are only a couple worth while tracks while everything else just kind of feels………redundant. I guess it doesn’t help that the game recycles pretty much 80% of it’s already used assets which doesn’t give her much to work though. It would be nice if CC2 wasn’t so cheap and would do a complete overhaul on the series so she could compose a completely new score (wishful thinking i know).

I haven’t listened to her scores for Hack yet so I’ll have to give them a listen to get a better understanding for it.

Try to start with .hack//G.U. onwards. I mean, the first four games have some good tracks, but comparing to what came with G.U. and later… it’s just isn’t that good. Of course, you could listen chronologically, but don’t be put off by the stuff you hear in the IMOQ soundtracks. Because I know it can put off many people.
I consider .hack//G.U. to be my favorite, but so are the games.

Also, everybody seems to blame CC2 for their laziness, but Ps2 only had like six or five fucking Naruto games in the span of couple of years. Then came PSP games and PS3. It seems to me like not only are they getting shit funding from Bandai Namco (they are a part of it, after all), but are also sick of working on these fucking Naruto games. I know I would be.

And oh yeah, her Jojo ASB stuff is good too.
