Toki Tori is an adorable puzzle/platformer which leans heavily on the puzzle side. Toki Tori needs to collect eggs in each level and has a solid collection of tools to navigate the areas, such as freeze rays and buildable bridges. The trick is that each is limited in quantity depending on the level, and getting around while making good use of your tools gets pretty tough, especially in later levels. The game really ramps up the difficulty, and you’ll find yourself staring at each level for a very long time, considering all the possible routes you could take and hazards you need to bypass. If you want even more challenge, there’s even a slew of Hard difficulty levels to keep you busy.

This soundtrack has been ripped from the Steam version.

This game only has 4 different worlds, but the level themes are incredibly infectious. The developers apparently put the soundtrack up for free download on their site some time ago, but the links are now broken. So I thought I’d take things into my own hands.

The music files are simply stored in ogg format in one of the game’s directories so they were very easy to find. The catch is that the level themes were done in a peculiar way – they were each stored as 12-20 chunks with names like block2b or break1a or modulation1, with each chunk being about 20 seconds long or so on average. Reconstructing each tune was a confusing task indeed. Thankfully, the playlist files the game itself uses can be opened in Notepad for easy reference. Here’s where things get a bit messy: there’s 3-4 different versions of each level theme, with each version using different pieces arranged in different ways. For completion’s sake, I reconstructed each one separately and gave them the "Loop twice then fade" treatment. I was then curious if I could simply make a "Complete" version by combining all the other variants end to end. Turns out they sound pretty good! Because of the length of these I didn’t make them loop twice (they only play once, loop back to the start, then fade after a few seconds), otherwise Creepy Castle would have been over half an hour long!

So to sum up, this game’s level themes are surprisingly good, and this rip includes a load of different versions for you to enjoy! This rip also includes the AMAZING/TERRIBLE Toki Tori rap from the credits. Don’t lie, you know you wanted it.
